Tim Hayes said Rye Cove has 47 players which is an incredible testament to how far the program has come in the last two years

I remember them struggling to field a team in the pre-Covid years

I understand the desire to play for a higher-level program, but he's already got his college choice sewn up & I wish he would have stayed local (even though he plays for our arch rivals)

The Two Bluefields will both bring home state titles for the first time since 1962 (first time in the playoff era in Virginia)

 

Jenkins cancels their season before Virginia High can play them and we wind up playing a different, more respectable, team from the Bluegrass State

I, along with most others from our area, assumed Battle was the favorite to win Class 2 baseball this spring and so I was shocked to see not just that they lost in the state quarters but the margin of defeat as well

Was it just an off night or is Patrick County that good?

Couldn't be happier for the young man, especially after the catastrophic injury

He's the first Virginia High player to commit to an FBS team since Ian Frye, who played kicker for UVA from 2011-15

I am so proud of our guys for rallying behind Brody and to our coaches for making the quick adjustments to give Deshaun the best opportunity to succeed. Lee played a hard fought game but ultimately I think our speed made the difference

 

Please keep Brody in your prayers, he's got a compound fracture in his leg and underwent surgery last night

Also I found out some more info regarding the change of venue from a source on the inside 

 

So the city of Bristol owns the field & they decided the game couldn't be played there due to poor field conditions, despite protests from the superintendent, AD, coaches, players, fans, etc

Brody Jones was carted off on VHS's first drive and is in a leg cast. Disaster for the Bearcats, hope he's okay

Another note on this game:

Out of the 11 current Region 2D teams, VHS and Lee have the least and second-least playoff wins since 2000.

Given that this would have been our 3rd home playoff game EVER, I can't believe they would move to a neutral site

Crazy fact: 

Including the pre-1970 championship games, Virginia High has never won a home playoff game. Not one. All their previous playoff wins have come on the road or at neutral sites

The only wins in the modern era:

That depends on the outcome of Lee/Abingdon & GC/Ridgeview. The points are incredibly tight between Lee, Union, GC, and VA High right now

If my assumptions are correct & the games fall as I think they will (Lee and Ridgeview victories), a Richlands victory over VHS would produce this:
