  1. Florida just came out flat and Louisville came to play. That onside kick to start the second half was just a bad move. Florida was outplayed and out coached tonight.
  2. Bluefield is by far number 1. Many championships and deep playoff runs prove that. For a while James Monroe put together some good teams, losing to Bluefield in the state title game 4-5 years back, not really familiar with Monroe County, but it seems they fell off pretty quick after average 9-10 win seasons for a long time. Any idea why they just fell off so quick, they use to have some big boys on offensive/defensive line. River View def has a soft schedule, hopefully they can play against the big boys upstate in the future. Westside and Wyoming East are basketball schools, but they have athletes, not sure why they haven't developed better football programs. Wyoming East hasn't done anything since 1999(seems like a long time ago...).
  3. I figured Malzahn would go to Auburn, I watched him on ESPNU The Experts talking about what a great, storied program Auburn is(a few days before the Alabama/Auburn game). Other than getting paid more money, which program would you rather coach-Wisconsin or Arkansas? I don't think I would have left Wisconsin to coach Arkansas. On some of the Badger message boards a lot of the fan base seems to be glad he is leaving. At the same time If I'm Arkanasas's A.D I wouldn't have chosen Bileima unless there wasn't a better coach out there.
  4. Belfry has a solid program, they have a great youth football and junior high system. Some teams just have your number. Congratulations to Belfry!
  5. 1997 Bailyesville Vs. Oceana football game,(now currently Westside High in WV). Oceana was our biggest rival and we always had the worst luck them. Our running back Kyle Webb was nicknamed Superman and the morning of the game several Oceana people had drove by his house and put up posters/signs with anti-Superman and kryptonite on them. We go on the road that evening to Oceana and Kyle Webb goes off and scores 7 or 8 td and the final score was around 72-12. Greatest game and one man performance in our school history.
  6. That was a great finish, Bayern had all the opportunity to win it, but it just seemed Chelsea was destined to take it. It's games like this that get me into soccer.
  7. It's goin to be the new Rt.460 from US 23 to Ky/Va state line, it will enter around the Elkhorn City area.
  8. A little too late for action I believe, everybody is already dead. Go to the graveyard at Roderfield,WV and see all the young people dead. Something should have been done back in 1999-2001 to curb the problem, but Purdue Pharmacuetical made billions of dollars and Doctors got kickbacks. Regulation of Pharmacuetical companies, strict guidelines to Dr's on how to write and when to write scripts, Rehabilitation, and alternative medicines are the only way to ever truly alleviate the problem.
  9. Came thru Williamson tonight and I hadn't even thought about the Title game til a couple of Tug Valley fans had their cars painted up State Champs. Stopped by the Southside Mall and overheard a few talking that it was a good game. Congratulations both teams for representing SWV again in Double AA B-Ball, Good Luck next year1
  10. I've always thought a 9:30 A.M. game was just a bit too early,imo.
  11. I just hope RGIII doesnt blow out his knee, I hope he's durable enough to take the hits.
  12. That has to be rough for Scott, 3 straight runner up finishes. Finally the first championship for Westside and the first championship of anykind for the kids that are from Baileysville/Hanover/Brenton area. The curse is lifted finally!
  13. I think Wyoming East will pull it off this year, but I'll be happy if TV or Bluefield wins it.
  14. I think Marshall is one of the most ghetto places I've ever been too. There making a lot of improvements here at UVA-Wise, it's starting to be a decent place with the new buildings and Convocation Hall. When I first moved here I was surprised that it was associated with University of Virginia. Then it was explained to me it was originally Clinch Valley College. UVA is a very nice campus, even better than WVU. Butler University in Indianapolis is also a beautiful place in the fall.
  15. I wouldnt be surprised if the Rams try to shop Bradford around and take RGIII. I dont think Bradford is goin to shake out as a good NFL QB.
  16. With that schedule, they should at least finish 10-2 or 11-1 regular season with a spot in the ACC title game.
  17. I had moved to Flint, Michigan a few years ago after this lady I was seeing moved to unfortunately. I started working at a restaraunt, the Manager hired me on the spot just because of how friendly I was and my accent. I was in a pretty rough neighborhood in East Flint, they were some cold hearted people up there, very dangerous place. Everybody I was around was glad to see someone who was nice and had manners, I guess they just dont teach those things up there anymore. Finally the me and the girl I was with parted ways and I had 3 more ladies beggin me to move in with them, Those Northern girls love us Southern Boys. But since I had no family up there I came back this way, Flint is no place to live, or better yet any part of Michigan!
  18. That is just a mess... I dont think they will ever get BCS AQ status, but there isnt much of a difference between this new conference and the new look Big East.
  19. Not knocking Snake handling(grew up around it when I was younger) but I loved it when Rusty chooses Beautician school over The University of The Penisular State Just Below Georgia., He had been practicing something fierce!! I lost it when Tom Trebow was handling those snakes and speaking in tongues!!! You got the stuff!! Classic Episode, right up there with the original Gator Hater!
  20. Any other Squidbillies fans? Would you name your child after Hershel Walker?
  21. I lived over 17 years in McDowell County, having last lived there in 2009. I left the Iaeger area and moved to find a job and more oppurtunity. I agree with most of what other people have said here. There is a cycle of Poverty there and it does start at home, most of the parents dont care and have lost hope, and their kids follow suit. There are people that care and there is success in some circumstances. But to characterize McDowell County as a cancer spreading to other counties that has to be the most ignorant thing I have ever heard anyone say. There is poverty in Bluefield Hill(both sides), Montcalm, Lashmeet, Nemours, Matoaka, Princeton, Mullens, Itmann, Simon, Glen Rogers, Glen Fork, Hurley, Whitewood, and on and on, I've seen it first hand. Did McDowell County spread its cancer to these areas? Any area that you find high unemployment, low income, substandard housing, water, and infrastructure your goin to find poverty, drugs, hopelessness, and despair. Kids in poor economic areas are always going to have lower test scores than more well to do areas, thats always been the case.
  22. That 2nd quarter looked like the WVU game, the Broncos receivers dropped several balls and the defense just couldnt handle Tom Brady and Company. I just dont see Tim Tebow being a long term quarterback for the Broncos.
