Reading some post on VA Preps and it seems there may have been a fight between the players and a player was hit in the head by a another helmet? Just trying to find out the details.

That did not happen, Richlands player was the only one with his helmet off. Now think about this, why would a GC player being up 27 - 0 be so frustrated to cause a fight. I was their and to me it looked like a couple of blocking shots after the play was over, the ref ejected both players and the Richlands player took off his helmet and began a crying fit right there on the 50 yard line. Then player then came shot the GC fans a bird several times before the coach came and escorted him away to the other side.

Hit him so hard he still had the ability to turn to the referee and beg for the call, before falling to the ground in excrutiating pain for about 20 seconds, before calmly walking off the field. Kinda odd nobody has mentioned #5 for Richlands kneeing one of our players in the chin as he was flat on his back. Let the VHSL handle it. If he did wrong it'll be dealt with I assure you.

I have seen a film and the GC player should have been ejected for what happened and it appears that the helmet hit the Richlands player just above his number on the top of his left shoulder.....and this comes from a big GC supporter.... also I'm sure it will be dealt with by the VHSL and internally also......

SO, I guess being as the young fella did'nt make contact with the helmet causing a broken neck, brain damage or death it was just a minor infraction?

I've not been to many games that a knee did'nt go to someones chin sometime during the game but I can't remember many, if any, helmets being swung at opposing players.

It's always the same with you folks, if someone mentions anything negative about the actions of your team or fans, it must be squashed as soon as possible and made into a minor incident or an out and out lie, even if you know it to be true.

You know, it just might be possible that you have some outlaw players and fans just like every community, including mine. You can polish it, shrug it off, try to act as if it did'nt happen....whatever. Nonetheless, it's a darn serious action and needs to be dealt with harshly.

Whoa Whoa Whoa there fella - I believe I said he SHOULD have been ejected, the VHSL SHOULD handle it - as well as internally.....I dont condone what happened in any way and I'll GUARANTEE you that the staff at GCHS doesnt either...the incident SHOULD NEVER have happened.....period.

I was'nt replying to your post Herbie, I'm sorry you took it that way. Your post was a very sensible approach.

Sometimes I get tired of people that think their team can do no wrong. I know that I've seen incidents by my team that should have been dealt with much harder than they were.

The risk in football is already great and we accept that risk to play the game. There's no need to add avoidable risk to this game we love.

Nobody from GC said it wasn't wrong, actually we've all said it WAS wrong and it WILL be dealt with. The coaching staff and administration won't tolerate it, and it'll be handled properly in the coming days.

gimme a break, his first reaction after he was hit on the head while on his hands and knees defenseless was to grab his head(yes on the head luckily his pads caught some of it),i've seen the film too,gc has a class program i think they will handle it and word is they already have and yes he probably did flip off those behind the bench taunters of children and by no means do i imply all gate city fans are this way, every team has it's bad fans, so tell this garbage to someone who hasn't seen the film they know better

more garbage, richlands player wasn't ejected, he was knocked out of the game as a result of this, his helmet luckily came off during the 360 degree 2 handed face mask that took him to his hands and knees b4 he was hit with the helmet, yes let gate city and vhsl handle it but don't tell a bunch of lies and put down the richlands player then start saying lets not talk about it and let them handle it...i hope he did flip off those manly men they deserved it

no neither are acceptable and if true and intentional they should pay a price too, but your the same guy that stated as fact that the richlands player never left his feet and how the first move by the richlands player was to cry for a flag so can any of the above be believed either? i am sure colobro and mance have seen the film and if they have concerns with what your claiming they will address that also

i'll tell you this much. i've seen both gate city and richlands in action and neither team is a classy team. those are the 2 most foul mouthed teams i've ever seen and the coaches let it slide. fans of both are awful. ban both players and both teams.

Wow, you lost credibility by implying that Mance and Colobro let things slide. Just as your Mom/Dad may control what you say under their roof....once you walk out that door....you're the one accountable. The fans are yelling/cheering, players are yelling out schemes or whom to cover and the coaches are listening for "foul mouthed" language....yeah, right.

Mance and Colobro are premier coaches.....they're not "ugly" language enforcers.... that's up to each player to decide how they want to be perceived.

These seem like the words of someone whose high school team regularly gets beat by one of these teams. Just sayin.

How about this - since I've never seen a school in our region not have an unsportsmanlike call against them and have seen on the field incidents very frequently between many schools, why not just "ban" all schools within SWVA from playing - except your precious little snowflakes at the school you support and crown them champs. I guess that would make you happy, wouldn't it?
