SWVA_FootballFan 8 Report Share Posted November 14, 2015 Is it just me or do I remember Abingdon playing Northside in the preseason and winning? I don't remember, what are your thoughts on this game?
EHC87 60 Report Share Posted November 14, 2015 I was at the pre-season controlled scrimmage. It appeared that both teams were evenly matched. Northside has a good running back who is shifty and runs hard. Northside also has a solid defense as well. What is really hard to tell is how much better did both teams get since that time. I believe that the Falcons have a chance if we play well in all 3 phases of the game. I will be there cheering on the Falcons. Good luck to the rest of the SWVA teams next Friday and Saturday. Hope everyone plays well and stays injury free.
Bigrhsfan 884 Report Share Posted November 14, 2015 I'd love to see the Falcons beat Northside, but it will be tough. Both sides of the Falcons line will need to play well. The O line will need to give Sturgill time to pick out his receivers and the D line will need to eat up blocks so the LB's can stop the Northside running game. I will be pulling for you guys and hope you guys take another big step ! Good luck Falcon fans !
LegendatLegion 109 Report Share Posted November 14, 2015 Abingdon is a bit of an enigma for me. They will go three quarters and not score then throw 3 quick td's. They have managed to win the close ones this year, but i am afraid this one won't be close. I am for Abingdon, but i expect Northside to roll on to the next round rvtne216
BigO 316 Report Share Posted November 14, 2015 I think they called that scrimmage a tie, 7-7.
Falcon Mania 235 Report Share Posted November 16, 2015 Likewise guys I would like nothing more to see Richlands keep rolling. There were plenty of moments this past friday where the Falcons could've laid down and quit but they didn't and once Sturgill and Co. found the chink in Rustburg's armour they took full advantage. Thank goodness this season the Falcons had to win a close one in OT with Blacksburg. That definitely helped them maintain their composure and pull off a win in the face of adversety. I was shocked to see them go for the 2pt conversion in the first OT. I guess it just proves sometimes you just have to go for it.

BlueRazor 1,147 Report Share Posted November 18, 2015 Well i personally think this one comes down to Abingdons defense. I think they can score on anybody. If Abingdon can hold them under 27 points.....I think they win. I believe Abingdon can and will score at least 28 points. I'm hoping this happens. The Falcons under Reed and Colobro have brought a different swagger to the players and they love it. They play with intensity and want to knock you back to your bench so to speak....lol. I really believe they have a better chance than most expect......Good Luck Falcons! Abingdon 31 Northside 24 EHC87
oldfalcon56 23 Report Share Posted November 18, 2015 What's the status on Yates? I know he went out of the game last week after the head to head hit and never came back in.
SWVAgridiron 1,469 Report Share Posted November 18, 2015 Definitely pulling for the the Falcons. Northside is tough, and should be favored to win. Could come down to a shootout, and Abingdon has had success in those types of games

Falcon Mania 235 Report Share Posted November 18, 2015 What's the status on Yates? I know he went out of the game last week after the head to head hit and never came back in. Yates is back at full speed. He was kept out as a precaution. He is fine. Did lose Vandyke though. But from what I understand there will be a few that will play both ways. I think the Blankenship kid and Crosswhite will platoon to fill his loss.
tbgfan 855 Report Share Posted November 18, 2015 The Falcons impressed me with their composure against Rustburg last week. I picked up the game right before Rustburg scored their last TD in regulation. I thought, that's the game, but Sturgill took command of the situation and marched them down the field, with 3 helping penalties from Rustburg. Reed going for the 2 pt conversion in O/T--he knew it was do or die time for the Falcons. I have a feeling that the Falcons are going to make this a game. Their offense is not in question, but they will have to bring their "A" game on defense. With Sturgill's leadership, and aggressive play calling by the coaching staff, taking the Falcons for the win. GO FALCONS
