Hokies_rulz 3 Author Report Share Posted November 10, 2016 Thanks for those. I guess we are waiting on 81 and 83? Does anyone know when Hurley,Garden,Honaker,St. Paul joined the BDD? I know St. Paul left at some point and I think Honaker did too and then came back? If you have when they joined and left I would appreciate it. redtiger 1,740 Report Share Posted November 10, 2016 86 and 88? Any idea on 81? Originally God made all Tigers RED, but over time the weaker, inferior ones faded to orange big ugly vol
Hokies_rulz 3 Author Report Share Posted November 10, 2016 I just asked Greg Tester and he said that Hurley only won 3 BDD titles. 1982,1992 and 2016.
1inStripes 932 Report Share Posted November 10, 2016 I believe it was 89 that St. Paul left to join the Cumberland after Jonesville and Pennington was closed to form Lee.

cowboysnskynyrd 74 Report Share Posted November 10, 2016 Not sure when Haysi joined the BDD but their only state title (Boys BBall) was in 1962 as a member of the LPD.

I think they won about 4 BDD titles. Don't hold me to this but I think Garden won in 81, 83, 86 and 89. The Dragons were hard to beat back in the 80's. Hurley is 82, 92 and 2016 as previously stated and all the rest look correct. redtiger

Hokies_rulz 3 Author Report Share Posted November 10, 2016 Thanks, Is this the original BDD Members in 1978? Haysi, Hurley, Garden, Pocahontas, and St. Paul? Then St. Paul left after 1989 season and Honaker joined in 1988? I am a little confused on Honaker winning in 1988, the reason is I don't show them playing all the BDD teams that season(They only played Haysi,Garden, St. Paul and Hurley) it shows that they didn't play Pocahontas until 1990. It looks like they didnt start playing all BDD teams until 1990. I am told Pocahontas stayed in the BDD until 1995. Could someone confirm that Honaker actually won in 1988? MrSocko 136 Report Share Posted November 10, 2016 I played during that time and the best that i can remember is that Pocy. didn't play Honaker initially due to some reason that was never disclosed. I think Pocy either forfeit or didn't schedule Honaker. Could been a bad experience from a previous game in the early 80's or maybe the AD didnt want them in the BDD and they wouldnt schedule them. Honaker had a senior loaded team and did win the BDD in 1988. They were rebuilding in 1989.
redtiger 1,740 Report Share Posted November 10, 2016 Original Members - Haysi, Hurley, St Paul, Garden, Pocahontas - Whitewood and Council were members but didn't start playing football until 1990(I think), Council folded after the 94 season and Whitewood played until consolidation after the 00 season(Garden and Whitewood formed Twin Valley). Honaker was not an original member, joined in 88 and won the district or were co-champs(Garden and Honaker had the same record but Honaker won the head to head, Region D runner up). Pocy leaving in 95 is correct
