I think it is a good move to put Pennington at the tailback position he hits the hole hard and doesn't dance around in the backfield. Will be even better to get Chapman back soon.

Tonight was a tale of two halfs. The adjustments were made and Giles came roaring back. Radford was keying biedleman in the 1st half so an adjustment was made. That's great news if Chapman may be back soon.

I don't think the Giles front line has blocked very well at all for the backs to do anything with the ball. The fact that Chapman is out has really hurt Giles. Defenses are just keying on biedleman.

7+ stalled drives in the opponents territory is back breaking for last 2 games. They need to stay aggressive throughout the whole drive. I think that is the reason they are 3-2 and not 5-0. Still proud of how they are playing thus far. They've proved that they can hang with the best of the best

Glenvar is not the same team they were earlier in the year also....all the suspended players have been back for a couple week. The Mullins kid at QB is very dangerous and they now know they can beat us so like in years past it's not in their heads that they can't beat us. Because they now have...3 straight times too.
 
Coach Clifford does a great job and will have his team ready as will coach Williams as well...should be another good Giles-Glenvar matchup.
 
Giles HAS to start holding on to the ball...May have cost us the game last night but again Galax is a very very good team and deserved the win.
 
And a note to some(not all) of the Spartans fan base.....You guys need to listen to something Aaron Rodgers said last year and just R-E-L-A-X.....In the last 2 weeks we have lost to 2 pretty damn good football teams...one is unbeaten and the other very well could be unbeaten....one is the defending state champs and both have a shot to win it this year.....it's not like we have lost to 2 teams that will finish 2-8.
 
Every smart Spartan fan knew this year would be a rebuilding year and if Coach Williams and staff can get this team to 8-2 they have done a hell of a job IMO....Two of our best players injured(1 is out and the other can only play one way)....you can't rebound from that in D2 or D1 especially against very good teams...A LOT and I mean A LOT of youth on the field right now....Kids are fighting and just figure out just yet how to close games against very good competition...it will come people just R-E-L-A-X and support these kids...they are doing everything they can to win, just hasn't went our way the last couple games.
 
Come out and get a win against a good Glenvar team and finish out the regular season strong and see what happens in the playoffs....remember Galax was 1-4 after we beat them last year......did pretty well after that and haven't lost since

Giles' offense has been driving the ball all night. Should have 28+ points but they kept stalling near the red zone

This game could go either way IMO. I think if Giles controls the line of scrimmage and can contain the speed, wrap up..they Win. It will he less than 14 points whoever wins

I believe whoever wins it will be by less than 10 points.

Not so fast! The Vols are going to need Lady Luck on there side. AppState's D is good but Tech's is better and Tech is going to score. If they play like they did last week Vols will lose on prime time and in front of the biggest crowd ever. If the play up to there potential they will win hands down. Let's see who shows up to play?

Article in this mornings Roanoke Times stated Brian Mann from Giles has earned the starting TB spot at Ferrum and will also be the primary returner.
 
Kid was certainly impressive at Giles.

I could see them finishing 2nd in the RRD. The only regular season teams I could them losing to is Giles and Salem. Tonight against Giles could be a toss up, but Salem will just be too much to handle. Blacksburg could make a good run in 3A with that new coach. He seems to have brought the spark back that they've needed

Giving any team a short field is not a good idea much less Giles.

We not only lost a talented back in Brian Mann but we lost one hell of a good High school football player in Brian Mann...The kid was one of my favorite players to ever watch at Giles. Great RB and DB and very good on special teams as well....and we have NOBODY to replace this kid. Plus we lost other seniors that were very good football players as well. Just ran into a very very good Glenvar team the last 2 years. We will be young and a lot of underclassmen playing major roles...good for the future. We will be pretty good but not top level good....goes in cycles and this happens to be one of our down cycles. But I will be there supporting these kids and coaches every Friday night cause I know both will give it all they have to win games and that's all you can ask as a fan

Agree they lack sportsmanship. I witnessed many unsportsmanlike actions when Giles played them the first time.

Union 28 Glenvar 27 -final

Glenvar will get a lot of pressure on the QB they have all year. They were in the back field on just about every play against Giles and the week before against VA High. Good luck to Union though I really hope you guys win.

Sorry this is so late but i've been out of town all day....First i want to say to Glenvar players and fans you guys have one heck of a football team and i'm man enough to admit you were by far the better team last night....Your front 4 on defense is something special especially at the D2 level....Stanley,Alls,Deck and the other kids are flat our studs on your DL...and you are a well coached football team as well....as Giles is also.
 
Union may beat Glenvar but I promise you if they or anyone else does they will know they have been in a dogfight....this team is physically and mentally tough.
 
On offense Manns is a quick,fast shifty little back with a burst and he is tough as nails too.....and Stegall(#7) is just flat out a play makers....kid made 2 of the best catches last night i've seen in a long time.

Spread teams may have more success against them than Giles does with the compact single-wing....their defense is perfect for our offense...and a guy asked me last night "Do you think Clifford(coach) has figured out how to defend the single-wing?"....my reply was "No but with this class of players they may have figured it out"
 
And I also want to thank the Giles coaching staff and players for a great season...10-2 is nothing to be ashamed of...and they played hard last night and just got beat by a better team.....and I personally am going to miss Brian Mann...Kid is a special type of player and he is sorely going to be missed in Spartan land....a hell of a career for a great kid ended last night...I've been watching Giles football for many years and this kid was one of the most fun players i've ever watched.

I'm not what you could call a die hard Giles fan but I love watching them play. The first time they played Glenvar, I do think the refs determined the outcome. Tonight, Glenvar just showed that they had the better team. As a mutual observer the officiating was great. Both teams got penalized and the calls were all obvious. #7 for Glenvar is just an amazing athlete. Some of those catches he had you would see at the NFL level. And hats off to Glenvar's defense once again. They gave Giles great field position all night but Giles could not do anything with it. Their coach called a few questionable plays but Glenvar was just too much. Keep your head up Spartans, yall did a lot better than expected. Glenvar, congrats. Best defense I have seen in years.

Have to say, I'm pulling for the Giles Spartans and Coach Williams to make it to the 3rd round.  It's going to be a doozy, but I believe the Spartans can prevail in this rematch.
