  1. Never played... Lol. But yeah, Grundy is one of the absolute worst places to go watch a game if you're a visitor. Everyone says it's Richlands, but Grundy has them beat by 10,000 miles. The PA announcer is terrible and they play music at a million decibels on the visitors side which deafens you for about a week after the game.
  2. Nope because Central is worse than Burton this year. Besides, Ridgeview has a much tougher challenge before they play Central and that is Grundy at Grundy. Where the PA announcer influences the refs with his commentary.
  3. I've been wondering that myself since we are supposed to play Crockett at Crockett before then. As of now, I believe Boone anticipates having theirs fixed by their second home game and Crockett by the time they play us.
  4. There are three fairly big Northeast Tennessee rivalry games that week: West Ridge at Tennessee High Cherokee at Volunteer Daniel Boone at David Crockett Only other Virginia game that could compete with Abingdon/Ridgeview that week would be Virginia High at Chilhowie. I would say it comes down to the Musket Bowl and Ridgeview/Abingdon. If the Musket Bowl is for the 1-5A title, I'd say it gets the nod.
  5. Casey Goetz just posted the first three weeks on Facebook: Friday -- Science Hill at Elizabethton August 26 -- Daniel Boone at West Ridge September 2 -- Twin Springs at Holston I believe this may be the first Cumberland team to be featured on Friday Night Rivals. Regardless an all 1A game is pretty awesome.
  6. Yes... My meaning of significant was to say that it wouldn't be the straw that broke the camel's back, but it wouldn't be a "Meh, next man up..." type situation either.
  7. I heard it was Koda Counts for Ridgeview with the shoulder injury (#5). Not sure how serious it is, but if he's out for an extended period of time, that's a significant loss.
  8. She's credited with a lot of the Bristol Herald Courier photos now, so doesn't she work for them? If so, I'm sure she'll be an exception with a media pass... Most places won't let you bring in outside food at all these days. At Dobyns-Bennett you can't bring in food or umbrellas. That's probably why last year's game against Science Hill was only attended by about 100 diehards like myself who didn't mind sitting out in a monsoon for three hours.
  9. I heard you were a leading candidate based on your undying love for the Twin Valley nachos. 😄
  10. I know one for sure and that is the Elizabethton at Greeneville game which is on a Thursday night. September 1 I believe.
  11. You're forgetting Twin Springs... 1D is wide open... could be any of the four you mentioned as well as the Titans.
  12. Lol. I like both sides of the line as well as eastern Kentucky and southern West Virginia. I'm sure you can tell by the little Facebook group I operate. You need to post more Giles stuff in there by the way. My little Dan River buddy posts his stuff in there, even though Dan River isn't really part of the coverage area. How's the train horn coming along this year?
  13. Jeremy Ward has stepped down at Twin Valley due to health issues. Wishing Jeremy well and hoping everything turns out ok for him. Not good news for the Panther program though with it being three weeks away from opening night.
  14. Are you going to be in the dunk tank? If so, Imma showing up! 😄
  15. I assume Volunteer and Cherokee's stadiums are exactly alike. Their basketball gyms are with the exception of school colors of course. I just look forward to visiting any stadium for the first time. Guess I'm a stadium junkie. Lol. I will have first time visits this year to Volunteer and David Crockett. West Ridge is away this year but I went to a Thursday night game there last year. Best stadium I've been to on the Tennessee side so far is Farragut by a pretty good margin. Oak Ridge would be up there if you were sitting on the home side but sitting on the visitor side sucks because of the incline to reach the seats and being so far away from the field.
  16. It is a lot. Lol. A lot in Knoxville area do too though. William Blount, Bearden, Heritage, Jefferson County all have seats on one side. A lot of seats mind you.. but all on one side. Heck, D-B may as well have seats on only one side. With the band now taking up the first section of visitor seats at J. Fred, it doesn't give very much space to the visitors.
  17. I look forward to seeing Volunteer's stadium for the first time this season when the Tribe go to Church Hill.
  18. I quit going to games when it no longer was a minor league. I had season tickets for several years to Bristol Pirates games. I was able to take in a game in every single Appy League park before it turned into the college league it is now with the exception of Pulaski's.
  19. I think @Counts was referring to "that bunch" as the Ridgeview OL, not the former Union QB. 😄
