I don't think we will know for sure until Friday night, but like Larry said, possibly Richlands. Could also be Appomattox or Dan River. I'm afraid that there's too much that could happen to make a prediction on that.

If everything plays out like it should, barring any crazy upsets, Battle will probably be going to Richlands.

I agree. I used to put quite a bit of stock into 8th grade ball and guessing when the varsity would be good again. However, for years Pennington Gap was the toughest team I remember GC playing in 8th grade and it wasn't even close. Would have expected Lee to be a powerhouse with those kids at some point at least.....yet nothing would ever come of it. (Nothing against Lee and you fans) I honestly could never figure that one out. Didn't know if alot of those kids just chose not to play varsity ball or what the deal was. Maybe this is an example of an exception and not the rule.

Congrats to JSB! Glad to see them tally up another one in the win column.

I think JSB wins it...but that's based solely off the way they played last week. If they play that way again I think they come away with a 7-10 pt win.

I wasn't able to go to Lee but Battle played well Friday night.

Battle can still get in even if they lose their final 2 games, but a win against Lee will almost certainly guarantee a spot. I think this game is a complete toss-up.

I favor Battle more so. Lees a solid team, but Battle knows they can win this year and its a big difference just in mindset. They also did well against Collier and GC and he's basically Pendergraft on steroids (not literally an expression) and its at JSB.
 
I'd say its tight, but Battle pulls out a TD win.

Union has too travel to Battle to end season, and while Union would likely still win tiebreaker, if Battle wins, it'd be three teams with 1-conference loss. I know everyone expects Union to win, but it's a road conference game and Battle is much much improved. GC played Union very close at GC as well, Union managed a win but Battle was only one yard away from likely sealing a win and making the finale a game for the conference.
 
Union seems to be playing very well, they coulve literally scored 100 or named score last nig but Eastside is terrible, but a game against a tough Letcher Co school followed by a road trip to Battle are two very tough games. Just hope Union realizes how important winning out really is.

Battle is going to be the 3rd team in the mountain and might challenge next year for number 1

I admit seeing how well Battle is playing, how close they game at a red hot GC team, def has me worried about Unions season ending trip to Battle.

Battle has proven to be an improved team this year as Gate City is improving weekly. Glad to see Battle playing competively on a weekly basis.

John battle is very dangerous this year they play very solid defense.

Battle looks much improved. They seem to keep getting better each and every week. I expect a dandy of a game. Safe travels to Legion Field on Friday. Looks like it could end up little wet.

Hopefully this wet junk will be over by game time. Ain't nothing worse than wet popcorn.

If the offense can get going Battle will be fine! The defense is solid. And I believe they can stop Gate City's offense. But if we allow their offense to stay on the field long enough they have athletes and will adventually break one for a big gains or touchdowns. Gotta put more points up than we have the past 2 games or Gate City will pull it out.

Surprised no one is talking about John Battle. They have made enormous strides since September, and they've got a decent shot of making the playoffs

They are having a great boys tournament next week (Dec 10 - Dec 12) at VA High School in Bristol VA. I attached a file with the bracket showing the teams & times. This tournament will feature Oak Hill Academy (Grayson Co VA), Evelyn Mack Academy (Charlotte NC), Hamilton Heights Academy (Chattanooga TN), Covenant Christian Academy (Marietta GA), & Faith Assembly Academy (Durham NC). There will also be 3 local schools playing. They are Abingdon, Lebanon, & VA High. This should be a very good tournament with 8 Division 1 commits & 5 kids in the ESPN top 100. Tickets are only $8 per day. It might be your only chance this year to see this much High School talent in one gym. Scan2.pdf

Yeah... I just went to vhsl site & saw that... I probably should have done that before I posted. Looks like it's still only 4 teams at VCU & they added one extra round before that. More money for the vhsl that way I guess.

Changed it. All 4 teams that won tonight are guaranteed a regional semifinal, either a regional championship or 3rd place game, and a state quarterfinal.
 
8 teams advance to the state playoffs now, instead of 4. The winner of the two regional semis will host a state quarterfinal.

Battle/Ridgeview really surprised me. I thought with Harris out that Battle most likely would go down. I've never been so wrong.... All I know is that my daughter gets to cheer at least one more game in her Senior year.

Actually Honaker only returns 1 starter! Casey Dye, Casey Harman, Hunter Lester, and Sample all graduated. Robinette is all that returns starting wise from last year.
