Congratulations to the Chilhowie Warriors on a great and enjoyable season. Hold your heads up high, you have nothing to be disappointed about. You played till the very end. You all are a great upstanding group of young men. You made your community proud and showed true Warrior pride. Every game you gave it your all. You all accomplished so much this year!! Something that hasn't happened in 40+ years. That is a lot to be proud of. I just want to say thank you for making this such a memorable season!!! Go Warriors!!!
I also want to Congratulate the Riverheads on another state title.

Congratulations to the Chilhowie Warriors!!!!
This game was the pinnacle of your season, but does not define your season or the goals you achieved. May your young lives build on this accomplishment with the brotherhood of the players, the commitment of working hard to go farther and even more than possibly dreamed. It is a building block for next season for those returning, and an integral part for the seniors that hopefully will forge their lives in the future.
God Bless

I think there is enough time in between games in Salem for UVAO and futbolking to duke it out for a few rounds at midfield...

They are either first or 2nd generation coaches. They either played for him, coached under him before coaching elsewhere or played for coaches that coached or played under him (2nd generation such as coach Palmer is).

Thanks for sharing @Bluefield researcher.
I just read where Merril Gainer coached both Glynn Carlock and Joel Hicks at Big Creek.
Needless to say, the communities of Coalwood and War have produced some phenomenal people.

Merrill Gainer's legacy off the top of my head. Joel Hicks did not graduate from Big Creek. He did not play for Merrill Gainer. He graduated from Richwood, WV. He did coach at Big Creek, Beckley and WVU (assistant) before Pulaski County

Glynn Carlock - Graham (player and assistant coach under Gainer and Chmara)
Nick Colobro - Tazewell - Gate City (player)
Tim Sarver - Harrisonburg, Osbourn, Bath County (player)
Tom Farrell - Fauquier (played at Welch member of the 1963 undefeated team under Tony Colobro - assistant under Chmara)
Fred Simon - Bluefield (player and assistant coach under Chmara)
Dave Litz - Tazewell (player for Chmara)
Dave Rider - Tazewell (player at Big Creek)
JIm Hammond - Richlands (player at Big Creek)
Tom Buzzo - Liberty Bealeton - Brooke Point (player under Chmara)
John Lilly - Beckley, Shady Spring (player under Chmara)
Tony Palmer - Graham (player under Carlock)
Mario Poletti - Big Creek (player at Big Creek)
Carl Mams - Big Creek, George Wythe (assistant at Big Creek)
Jim Hickam - Pulaski High, Northside (player at Big Creek)
Barry Reed - Pocahontas and long time Coach and AD at Virginia High in other sports (played under Carlock)
Buster Large - J. I. Burton and current Bluefield basketball coach (played under Carlock)

ARE YOU KIDDING ME.....If this was in SWVA the VHSL would have someone's head, but it goes back to the same thing we've seen before, any team in the Roanoke Valley an eastward can do whatever and VHSL turns a blind eye. If Union had received a couple of tranfers from Graham would VHSL have allowed that??? Can not imagine what the rule is that allowed this to happen. Richlands has had transfers, but I thought the rule was that the kid had to have a semester of education under his belt at the new school, if I'm wrong, I must have fell asleep during the rule change meeting.

This would be the equivalent of a player playing for one Tazewell County school in the regular season and then playing for a different one in the playoffs.
Oh, the possibilities.

Liam McPoyle reacted to BigWinners in Title games
Holy shit. That's one of the shadiest things I've ever seen. How TF was that allowed? Three days??!? You can't possibly say this transfer was anything other than one school recruit a kid for the game. It's ridiculous and I hope the VHSL looks back and vacates this whole mess. You cannot allow this precedent. It opens up the entire state to recruiting kids for playoff games in the big three sports. Disgusting.

Too bad Gate City isn't in this tourny... I'd love to see Mac dunk over a full-size China Cabinet or maybe a stacked up Living Room suit.

Bad news for the rest of 1A.
"...I only have eight seniors on this year's team and some of them weren't even there two years ago. We've got a ton of sophomores and juniors and we start two freshmen. We truly are a young football team."

-Rick "Bear Dog" Blevins was a stud on the wrestling mat for Chilhowie. Well, maybe he was a "steed". He was whichever one is more impressive.
-Entertaining show, guys...Thanks

I still maintain that Fulmer doesn’t have the intelligence, wherewithal, and personality to run a $110M athletic department. Very different matters to run a football team and run an entire athletics department.
