I think dropping Marion would be a dumb move IMO. The travel isnt great but outside of VA high I am not sure anyone else in the SW would be any better. That would be a class 2 school that they should win most of the time. GC is 4-1 in the last 5 games 2 of those have been one score games and the spring ball matched looked like big noon kick off with two big 12 teams that forgot how to play defense

I think the streak ends here. Rye Cove is very improved but so is Lee. I think Lee walk away with this one easily

absolutely no way this is close.. Gate City has a pretty good team even though no one wants to admit it. The only way this is kinda close is if Union throws it 50 times just to work on that and TW picks them off a bunch! They should just hang out in the T and do what they do best and run the ball stay healthy get a running clock by half time and move on.

Common sense football says when the other team has an explosive offense and you have a run first offense use every second of that game clock and shorten the game. Thats not playing not to lose that a pretty decent game play that works for a lot of teams

I think it's better they stay down in class 1. It really screws up post season in all sports when they are in 2D because they dont play in the Southwest or the Mountain 7. I am sure they will be competitive in everything but they are not gonna Riverheads this thing so I dont see anyone having a big issue with it.

This part right here. Fans for the most part are adults. Talk crap to other fans who are also adults. Say what ever you want to the coaches that is just part of the job. Heckle the officials not that it helps but if it makes you feel better go ahead they know what they signed up for. Dont say a word to the players.. These kids are 16 17 years old you are a grown ass man let them play. Now the players shouldnt be talking to fans either but at the same time they are playing an emotional game and are still children. I blame the dude that had one too many natty lights before the game and "paid his 6 dollars"

lifting is a lot more single leg and stability type stuff because very rarely in football do you have both feet in the ground AND two hands on your guy. Its geared more towards explosion and stuff like that. If you want to prevent injury your need to make your body strong in those positions where those injuries occur.

The main philosophy of feed the cats is if you get faster you got stronger. If a kids squat max goes up 25lbs that doesnt mean that he got any faster in his flying 10 (which is what they measure) but If another kids runs 0.01 faster on his flying 10 then for sure got faster. Faster=stronger stronger doesnt always mean faster tough. Most of these feed the cat teams do not max squat, bench, cleans, ect. They only care about the speed.

I would say the most brutal place to be is on the side line as a coach of a team that had high expectations and your teams falls short or someone you should beat beats you. I have heard some nasty things over the years yelled at coaches that would make your grandmother blush. I feel for the wives and children of those guys because it can get pretty ugly. I can think of 2 games this weekend that I am sure were very bad.

So back on topic.. I think Wise Central is a pretty good team. I know they took one in the teeth last week but I dont think this is a team you want to see come playoff time. Their offensive philosophy really hasnt changed from years past they just moved the Q back in the shotgun which gives you another running treat. If #3 was on my team I would have done the same thing. They have pretty good size and fly around on defense. VA high has looked much better the last 2 weeks. The win against PH was a good win IMO. However they are gonna have to buckle up their chin straps on this one. I think if they can match Wise physically in the trenches then it will be a close game. If not Wise by a lot.

Lebanon big they have impressed me so far and Chilhowie has struggled to score and turns the ball over a lot. I agree better than the 0-3 record but I don’t think they can put score the pioneers in this one. Lebanon-48 Chilhowie-14

PH is a solid team and may have the best player on the field in McFail, but.. The injury to their QB is going to hurt them (I really hope that kid is okay). Lee is coming off a bye week and PH is coming off an emotional loss. I believe that it too much to overcome. Lee-34 PH-21

It we are looking at individual teams I think the Mountain 7 has a leg up with Union, Ridgeview, and Central at the top. As we saw last Friday the middle of the road teams can beat each other on even given Friday. In the Southwest its Graham and everyone else as far as teams go. If we are talking about an All-Star game between the to it would not be as lopsided as people think. I believe that if you took the best football players form each district (Marion has some kids you would take believe it or not) and coaching was even on both sides it would be a close game.

2004 was the last time they started 3-0 I think they have a great chance of starting 4-0. I am glad they are moving in the right direction its not good for a team to be down for that long.

Rye Cove looks like a completely different team from last season and good for them! They should go to 3-0 this week for the first time in God knows when.

From what I've seen PH should run through region D easily if they stay healthy. J-Kwon is an animal on both sides of the ball. I am not sure if VA high can stop the run game of PH but I also dont think PH has anyone that can run with Poku or little Thomas. Being able to run the ball with Brody Jones would be a huge help for VA high. This game will come down to if VA high can big play PH enough to have a chance at the end. The old saying that "3 things can happen when you throw the ball and 2 of them are bad" will come into play on this one. The run game of PH will be too much for the bearcats.

Lebanon wins big Eastside is on the struggle bus this season

In 2A Union is just a different atmosphere than any where else I've been. When Bullet is rocking its hard to go in there and get a win unless you are Appo. Even though I am sure it was different when they were making deep playoff runs but Gate City is also tough just for the fact the the visitors stands are right on top of the field and it is full of blue. Ive been there when the student section was on the away side which was different for sure. IMO no body is the southwest has much of a home field advantage. Tazewell, VA high and Marion really dont have the crowds that make a difference. Graham plays in such a big stadium that unless they are playing Bluefield it just feels empty. Richlands would be the best I guess but its no where close to Union or GC. I have said on here before Chilhowie has to be the toughest 1A place to play. The crowd is rowdy and they usually always get the bounce of ball plays when they play at home. I dont know this for a fact but I would say Chilhowie has the widest gap in winning percentage for home and away games. I could be wrong but they dont usually lose at home. Rural Retreat is a dark horse in this conversation. The atmosphere feels a lot like Chilhowie it may just be a mascot thing but who knows. I've only been to Giles once but that was an experience for sure. You really do feel like you are behind enemy lines on that one.

And never ran more than 3 plays on those drives but in the second half those same guys that dominate looked like they were in slow motion. That will hurt central later in the year

Central hasn’t played a full game of football all years their starters that they decided to keep in the game against Marion where absolutely gassed. If they don’t start getting in game shape ridgeview could walk away with this one in the second half
