Let Grundy back into the SWD for its closing years. They’d probably still finish 5th above Marion and maybe even compete for 3rd/4th with Richlands, Tazewell and Virginia. as for Hurley, Council, and TV, they’re out of luck. Council especially since they’re basically a basketball only member. Hurley and TV should just feign independence for their waning years and play a schedule made up of Grundy, Honaker, other assorted SWVA cupcakes (Castlewood, Northwood, Rye Cove, etc.), and teams from SOWV and EKY.

If he hadn’t raised a fuss then maybe he gets reinstated in a year or two. But this has obviously burned every bridge in town.

Grundy, Hurley, and the Council basketball team moving out of the BDD really only matters for 1-2 seasons. I’m sure by 2025-2026, Buchanan County High School will be built and BCHS will join the M7 or SW Districts. council of course will remain in the Cumberland, but that’s likely only going to include basketball trips to Council and whatever other sports they can offer to the 75 kids that go there.
