I don't see Foster as a tried and true #1.  I could be wrong but I see him as more of a Mike Stoops type.  Very good #2 but just not a #1.

Be careful what you wish for!  Prior to Beamer, and even his first few seasons, VT football was a joke.  Every career comes to an end at some point but don't forget where VT football came from!  You could easily be right back in the midst of a 3 win per season average.

Guys, I'll tell you up front that I keep stats for Tug Valley. I met some nice people from Haysi on Friday night, but I have to say the whining from some fans is absurd. First of all, the refs were horrible. They were very inconsistent with their calls, but to say that Tug Valley got every call is just incorrect. It shows that fans remember what they want to remember.
 
Haysi had 11 penalties for 91 yards.
 
Tug Valley had 9 penalties for 93 yards. 
 
That's not exactly an unbalanced stat line. Also, the referees did not throw 4 interceptions for Haysi, and they didn't fumble the football. Want to know what really happened? Haysi came out flat in the first half. They were sleep walking through the game. Tug Valley held an 8-0 lead at the intermission. Haysi came out and marched the ball right down the field to start the 3rd quarter and tied the game up. Haysi then got a long TD run from Turner to take the lead.
 
Tug Valley fought back with a drive of its own and tied the game up after a 5 yard TD pass on 4th down. On that play, a Haysi defender had the QB by the jersey but couldn't bring him down. I guess the refs kept him from making that sack too. After that, you could see Haysi tighten up. Then, Haysi had a chance to win the game in the final two minutes of regulation. But the QB misfired on a third down pass where the guy would've either walked into the end zone or been tackled inside the 5-yard-line for a first down. On fourth down, the pass hit a back in the numbers, but he dropped it. I'm sure the ref must've thrown something in his eyes before the ball got there.
 
In the first OT, Haysi went backward 10 yards after a Tug Valley sack. Then, Tug Valley had its possession and drove down to the 1-yard-line. Haysi stopped Tug Valley twice on the doorstep. Tug Valley's coaches were trying to call a timeout on the fourth down play, but the officials didn't give it to them. When one of Tug Valley's assistant coaches argued about it, Tug Valley was flagged with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. So, Tug Valley started from the 35-yard-line and drove down to score. I'm sure the officials flagged Tug Valley to help them out. I mean, every team wants to start OT from the 35-yard-line. You typically start from the 20-yard-line in WV.
 
Then, Haysi had its opportunity and threw an interception in the end zone. Again, I'm sure the officials actually grabbed the ball and put it in Austin Baisden's hands. Look, I put a lot of sarcasm in this post, but I stumbled across this thread when I was looking up what had been said about this game. It may be the biggest Tug Valley football win ever and is surely the biggest in the last 15 years. I have nothing but respect for the Haysi football program and the people I met, but it annoys me when I read these things saying that Tug Valley cheated. No one cheated. We were all a victim of some of the worst officiating I've ever seen in a high school game.

WVNS is the Bluefield area's local station now.  WVVA could care less about Bluefield...

Williams has to score as much as he can to make his PF/PA look better.....

Just some questions about this bothers me.  1. Was this act done on school grounds?  2. Did this act happen during school time? 3. Have they had their day in court? 4. Why would the school have anything to do with this, if the answer is no, to the first 3 questions? I am old school and think they should had their tails blistered along with going back to each place and replace any damages. If it were one of my sons, the school would not have to suspend him, I WOULD!!  Once again the parents need to parent and not expect the school to parent for them!

Well I would be over on the Richlands sideline, so I wouldn't expect any issues with your people there. If I really wanted to "avoid" the VHS folks i'd just go down to the endzone and hang out.

Nothing else going on other than calling it like I see it..I've always been honest about stuff here and just like now, it's not always the most popular discussion for some folks, but I tell it like it is.  I did mention a kid at Grundy once sitting by the field house saying the F word about 3 times per sentence and a couple of shirtless idiots from Grundy there with her running their mouth, and that was dealt with and I haven't seen it since. I've also told kids walking around the track running their mouth over on the visitor side to knock it off and have a little class. If I see it happen, I try to do something about it so people don't get on places like this and talk about how bad it is at Grundy...people already whine about how horrible it is to drive there and how horrible the field is and all that sort of thing, they don't need an excuse to go on about anything else. (Like it's shorter for Grundy to travel to wherever they play or something? but whatever...that's another argument)
 
Anyway...the problem I have, and I've said it several times now...every trip to VHS yields some sort of drama or low class interaction or display of poor sportsmanship...going back many, many years. 
 
You may not like me, you may not like Grundy, and that's ok...but I'm giving you specific reasons as to why I don't like VHS...first post I made in this thread said "I try not to hate VHS, but damn it's hard not to" and that's where I stand...I don't want to...but it's just hard not to when you constantly have to deal with the low class attitudes and behavior. I'm not saying it's you or jblank or anyone in particular...maybe it's just a select few that I've had the pleasure of encountering and that's all I have to base my opinions on...but that's just how it is....for me anyway.
 
 
I can't make it this week, wish I could as I'd love to see it....but I'll be at the next game to take pics though...or plan to be anyway.
