In 2004, R4D3 had probably its weakest year ever.  You had a 9-1 Grundy team that was the victim of one of the biggest screw jobs in SWVA history against a 4-6 Virginia High team in Round 1.  You had two mediocre (putting it kindly) Tazewell and Graham teams sitting at 6-4 and 5-5 respectively in the #2 and #3 spots.  Tazewell beat Graham 19-13 in a very poorly played game in Round 1 (also known as Carlock’s last game).  Tazewell then beat Virginia High 26-7 in another poorly played game in Round 2.  Tazewell won R4D3 and got boatraced by a Gretna team that obviously overlooked them yet still won handily.  Tazewell ended up making it to December by playing 2 playoff teams with a combined record of 10-13.  And that Tazewell team was 6-4, winning 3 games by 2 points or fewer (Carroll County, Graham [1st game], VHS [1st game]).  
 
2013 was not AS weak, but it was pretty much Giles, Gate City, and everyone else.

Did they change after each play or each series? Or did the offensive team get the cleats while the other team played in socks? Or was it the defensive team that wore the cleats? Did they change by position? That would suck if you were a wide receiver who wore a size 9 and the opposing wide receiver wore a size 13. And this begs the question, why couldn’t Richlands or Salem afford their own cleats? Why did they have to wear the same cleats? And how in the hell did one of these teams make the playoffs playing an entire season without cleats? This needs to be an entire podcast episode, like a 30for30 or something

It is still relatively early for any meaningful ranking, but I would say without seeing the rest of 1A that the ceiling for Hurley this year is top 5. They play a relatively week schedule out of the district, but I'd say the worst case scenario for them is 6-4.

Of course, he did not say that.  He simply juxtaposed Putin’s response with what our intelligence personnel have told him with Putin standing right beside him.  People want Trump to act more presidential, but want to crucify him when he doesn’t bite off another foreign leader’s head, with that leader right beside him, while on an entire other continent.

All Vocational schools are Federal and State money . All the salaries are funded by state and federal, no local money. The only thing county is on hook for is the upkeep and utilities. Would be crazy to close it. The school should be generating money through their programs. Greenhouses, carpentry all are big money makers!

Not trying to pick a fight or be a major smart a--, but this does seem to be a good time to interject an observation about public debt.
If the functionality of the proposed schools is maintained for as long as our great-great-grandchildren will be alive, why is it unreasonable to finance the construction of those facilities in such a manner that they will share in the cost of them?  Of course, from a literal standpoint that isn't likely to happen -- most traditional issues have a limit of 30 years for repayment.  In terms of scale, I don't know how far out of whack that $2 billion dollars is for a market of the size and nature of Charlotte-Mecklenburg.
Don't get me wrong.  I'm not a fan of debt (and I'm currently on track to make my own organization debt free by 2026).  But for major capital improvements, there are many facets to that discussion.  And if a community truly values public education, debt for schools is a concrete political example of "putting your money where your mouth is."
Reading between the lines, I assume that sixcat's brother lives in Mooresville.  I've been gone from that area for a while but based on my understanding of that community's demographics and economic trends, I don't think an additional debt load of $245 million is going to place a huge financial burden on Mooresville.

I think people are mistaken if they think much of the money that Bluefield, Bluefield College and Graham were paying was being used for the upkeep of the stadium. It was going into Bluefield's general budget.

Gate City fans... how come you don’t want to go to the game?? A few hundred tickets left unsold this morning and the athletic director is having to offer to pay for 100 tickets + the bus himself to get the students to go?
Lucky for Mr. Roberts that it’s at TMS. He might've had to take out a second mortgage to pay for all the tickets if the game was played at Cassell 

I can promise you that these kids don't care where it's played...it could be played down at the park, as long as the winner has a shot at state...

And the VHSL said Tazewell would be fine...end of story...

Honestly, any other venue in far Southwest Virginia would be closer to Gate City than Graham, thus being an advantage to the Devils.
If the Gate City and the fanbase wanted a better venue then they should have beat Graham last weekend.
Graham earned the right to host and have hosted state playoff games at TMS before so that's that.
Despite everyone thinking this is just the Mac McClung roadshow it's actually still the VHSL playoffs and with the system put in place this year, be it as bad as it is, this is what we have.  

I really don't think that they care about the people. They do care about their family's getting to see them. Now having said that they would think it was cool to play at a venue that they have seen on TV etc such as Virginia Tech or UVA but anything thing else below that they don't care about. My nephew plays for Graham and he has never even heard of VCU until recently. What the situation demonstrates is the lack of a good neutral facility in SWVA that is more centrally located. West Virginia does the final rounds of the basketball tournament much better. They reserve the Civic Center in Charleston and play the final eight in each class at a pre determined neutral site.
