Hello everybody. 
 
It’s been quite a while since I’ve been on the boards. Nearly 5 months now. While I won’t go into exact details — I felt it necessary to get away and take a break from most forms of social media. I left the board and also left Facebook for over 2 months. I used that time to look inward, instead of always looking outward and trying to find the negative around me. 
 
Through it all, I feel like I’ve started to turn a corner in my mental health. My family has went through the gauntlet this fall and winter. Multiple deaths — many due to Covid — have taken away people I loved dearly. Rifts with family and friends. Personal health and financial hardships. We’ve been through it all and come out (so far) stronger. 
 
Over the last several years, I’ve become unnecessarily combative to those around me — and that includes many of you here. For that, I am sorry. I’ve seen the pattern of who I was as a human, and continue to strive to correct that flaw on a daily basis. I don’t always win the battle — but I am determined to win this war. I hope that you can forgive me for things I may have said or done in the past that were out of line and unnecessary. If not — I understand that as well and truly respect where you’re coming from. I did years of damage to relationships and friendships that aren’t easily repaired. 
 
In any case, I am excited to get back and talk local sports with all of you. We are so lucky to be alive and healthy and able to talk about our amazing athletes from Radford to Ewing (hey Brady). 
 
Also, a huge thank you to GMan for checking in on me in what was a low point. I really do appreciate it.

That bill also contained provisions that extended COVID-19 relief funding through December 31, 2021, which was crucial and essential for state and local governments.  He would have been drawn and quartered by both parties had he desk vetoed it.  Trump had no leverage, and honestly worked it about as well as he could.  He’s got the Democrats in line for the increased stimulus payments, and there will be enough crossover in the Senate to get that through.  He made chicken salad out of chicken s*** there.

Wow, that's a big deal for Oak Glen.  I've been researching them some the past few days and it looks like they are actually good enough to win a state title.  Not saying they would or will, but from what I've read, looking at their scores, talking to officials who have had them, they are very, very good and good enough to beat any of the 3 remaining teams including Bluefield and Fairmont.  If Oak Glen doesn't play in the semi's, the Bluefield and Fairmont winner may have got a gift.  CalPreps has Oak Glen by 11 over R.C. Byrd.   I know a few people down this way have penciled in Bluefield or Fairmont as the state champs, but I'm telling ya guys, Oak Glen is just as good or better this year than Bluefield or Fairmont.

There are going to be some software updates very soon that are needed ASAP.  Unfortunately, we will be sent back to a default skin and lose some of the uniqueness of the board.  But it has to be done just to keep this thing rolling.  Changes will likely take place sooner than later.  Please be patient...and although our look will change, we will remain the same...

Bluefield benefited tremendously by not having to play Lord Botetourt, Graham, Richlands and Tazewell.  Those would have all been good opponents for Bluefield this season.

They should.  They did last weeks game for Princeton too.  Good quality and play by play.  First broadcast at Mitchell was a little laggy, but I think that was because it was at Mitchell.  Last weeks broadcast went pretty smooth.  I'll post the link, Im planning to watch.

I just really enjoy the challenge. I actually did not know about this and was not contacted. Tim Hayes pointed it out to me. The interesting thing is that while I know a lot about Virginia High School football and her history I know much more about WV high school football history. One because I have been researching WV much longer and Two) there is much less to learn because of the smaller population. I still have a long ways to go before I can claim to be an expert or THE AUTHORITY on Virginia high school football. If I had to do one thing over in hindsight I would do Virginia research first because when I started Marshall Johnson was still alive. By the time I really got into Virginia he had passed and all I have is his scattered notes and notebooks. BTW. There are literally dozens of notebooks by Marshall Johnson containing Virginia High School basketball history and scores. I know where they are.

Congratulations, Rick!!  It is so awesome that we have such an amazing source for high school sport history right here on this forum!!!  I am very thankful and grateful that you are here and share your knowledge with all of us.  Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine that this little forum covering sports in southwest Virginia and southern West Virginia would have such an outstanding gentleman in it's presence.

He definitely played football in '97.  That's was back when kids played all sports, they didn't "specialize" in any certain sport and it made them better athletes.

Lol. You are funny. 1999 and 2003 Graham was the home team. Virginia refs.  2019 Graham deserved every penalty and probably more. That is why they had multiple TD's called back in every game. lack of discipline. Has haunted Graham for years. I will go back and look at the 2005 and 2015 film to see if anything was called back.
