  2. IMO, if Graham doesn't turn the ball over and cuts way down on the penalties it will be a good game. If not, then it may be a long night for the G-Men. But like everyone has said this Graham team will hit hard and they create turnovers. Good luck to both teams but I believe this will be a competitive game.
  3. I hear they are picking up Grundy again.
  4. I was at the game and 90% of the calls against Graham were legitimate calls. The fumble/strip was a bad call...inadvertant whistle I believe is the reason they called back the play, but they did award Graham the ball. Graham did look sloppy with the holding, blocks in the back etc. Hopefully this week they can clean up the penalties against Grayson.
  5. Hopefully he was just trying to get some other kids some experience. The only offense I see Graham having this year is Sheets running for his life. I don't think Graham's line will be able to pass block or run block very well. Maybe the line will be better in games that count than the scrimmages. Spread the offense out and let Sheets and Jackson try to make something happen.
  6. Wish I knew more about the MED to make a prediction for Graham. I do think they lose to Bluefield, Richlands and Princeton. I see Marion and Tazewell going either way. Graham will be much better in another year or two. This year I will be happy if they are competitive.
  7. I could live with Coach Palmer if he was to get the job. He didn't buy into the Marrs/WeeCee way of doing things and the kids seem to really like him and respect him.
  8. Amazing how many rain-outs Graham has had and it's not even raining!!! We have only played EIGHT games so far and the season is almost over. We have yet to play Tazewell, Marion, Grundy, or CC. I wonder if any other teams have played so few games??
  9. Would be nice if they (TCSB) would be more open and honest about the hiring process. I hear from very good sources that Wyatt has the job and is planning on bringing in some former Tazewell coaches. But, I've also heard that Wyatt is planning on retiring in a year or two after this coming season.
  10. I hear it's already filled...could be just rumor though.
  11. Oh boy ... here we go! LOL
  12. You are right about the gym at GIS being the only part of the original building to survive the fire. That has to be about the oldest gym in any school anywhere. I love going in there and am always amazed at how small and old it is.
  13. Does Grundy have a lot returning from last year?
  14. Does anyone know if there is a rule in WV re whether or not a dad can umpire his sons high school game. The situation is a home plate umpire calling the game while his son is pitching.
  15. I really think Graham's new coach is doing the right things. He mixes things up in practice...there isn't any standing around....lot's of different drills. I do agree that they need to establish a weight room program for baseball but there may be issues getting use of the weight room. There is a really good group of young players coming up at Graham...I'm curious to see if in a few years they are really competitive.
  16. I don't know that baseball in Blfd, VA will ever get back to the way it used to be prior to the 90's. Baseball is barely a 3 month sport here. There are no summer leagues or fall ball to play. Plus, the baseball program may be the least funded sport at GHS. But hopefully with a few more wins each season things will change.
  17. I agree G-Man....hopefully this year they can keep it to baseball scores rather than the huge blowouts.
  18. Graham scrimmaged Fort Chiswell last week and looked very good against them...not sure what the score was but it was very even. I'm not saying Graham is back, but they are looking better. IF, they can get their pitching going they will be competitive this year. Graham has much better team chemistry this year...good attitudes...and good senior leadership. Also, they had a bunch of kids come out to play ball this year which is a good sign. Coach Dixon is working very hard to get the baseball program going in the right direction.

  21. Saw the SWD all distrtict teams in the paper this am and about crapped myself...what a joke!! For Graham's honorable mention they left out Jacob Bowling, a SR defensive end and had another player who played maybe 3-4 games at d-end and was awful at that position (good kid, goood athlete, just not a de). How does Marrs leave out a senior who played with a ton of heart, played injured at times, and made some huge stops for Graham this year??? Pathetic....it's getting hard to continue to support GHS football. And no...I don't even know the Bowling kid personally...just follow GHS football closely.
