I'm just happy there is a good buzz around Richlands basketball again. Before this group it had been some time since we'd had some hope in the pre-season.
 
Now if only baseball can get on board.

I understand that some ppl. just don't get it.
Had a sportswriter tell me that my ratings were misleading. I asked why. He said "because you have Grundy ranked so high".
Some ppl. just "zone" on the whole average thing - it's like they can't see the forest for the trees.
I just keep saying "it doesn't matter what the avg. is today, what matters is where you are after the last game", and my stuff gets you there faster.
I've been doing this for nearly 30 years, and have yet see anyone else even try something like it.
Shoot, haven't even seen someone try my method in other Regions.

Nothing confusing about it to me...

Either A: they see Richlands on top and automatically assume it's wrong. B: they don't take the time to read your method of using the numbers, since that is what actually matters. Or C: All of the above.

I went with Lloyd to a Reg. D baseball tourney game at Ewing years back - set up under one of those funeral home tents near where the on-deck circle would be. Don't think THAT would've been there but the forecast was 50% showers.
Ron's done a bunch of games on GTH from the bleachers - most HS press boxes just weren't built for 2 visiting radio stations.

Absolutely. I have done football games from the stands, in a building on the hill behind the stadium (a little bit like the Waveland Avenue effect for Cubs games...or what used to be), outside of the press box with the bullhorns blasting the PA noise in our ears (and consequently over the air), basketball games from in, behind and caddy-cornered with bleachers, equipment rooms and of course on the floor, and baseball games from a press box which is even with the bag at 1st, a locker room window, and from outside the 3rd base dugout.

You'll have that more times than not early in your broadcasting career. I for one realized how well we had it in Southwest Virginia facility wise once I left the area. 
 
I've done games from places such as tool sheds sitting on top of a John Deere to the back of a school bus. 

I didn't pack warm because we were going to be in the press box (just one layer of pants and two layers up top), but the way they built that press box (right on top of the metal bleachers on the home side), there was no insulation whatsoever, and the cold permeated your body from every surface you touched (including the metal bleachers underneath). We were seeing our breath in the box and chattering our teeth on air. Honestly, we had a guy from outside come in to get warm and then turn around and say, "I think it's warmer out here, the only difference is the wind." We couldn't feel our feet again in the car until Blacksburg, even with the heat pumped. That's just how cold it was. Also, I learned my lesson. Freezing or not in the press box, I pack warm and work backwards. You can always take layers off.

This is why allowing too many teams into the playoffs is a bad thing.  If you aren't .500 you don't even belong, and IMO if you fail to win your district, you shouldn't have a gripe.

I myself born and raised in Tazewell County, graduated from Richlands in 2011. Left for college,came home afterwards searching for jobs for a year and found nothing but fast food and etc. I moved to Columbus, Ohio abiut 2 months ago for a job I could of only dreamed for in SWVA.

Finish what you start. You're blessed enough to have an 11th game, give it everything you've got, even if the outcome is certain. There'll come a day when you wish you could lace up those cleats again.

Richlands has no excuse for not having a running game. They have had multiple games to develop a running game (Gate City, Virginia High, Bluefield,  Tazewell, Grundy) They have a a few guys who could play running back. Dylan Elswick for example, which has always played RB until the past year. Sure Codie Howie will make a good running back, but it will be obvious to what Richlands will be running when he goes from WR to RB. Well they are moving Howie to running back must be planning to throw it deep. I mean come on.
