Thank you for your contribution to this website.  There are some people who do give a crap about Salem, unfortunately, you won't find them here.
 
As has been documented before on this site, many times over, the "SWVA" in the title of this site ends at Radford.  It does not cover any schools that play "down in the Valley".
 
If you would like to contribute to and/or talk about "SWVA" sports, please do, as your opinion would be welcome.  However, as the money man and hammer wielder of this site, I must give you this piece of advice...WE DON'T CARE ABOUT SALEM, PLEASE DO NOT POST ABOUT SALEM.

Also, make sure you have a legit West Virginia address. Would hate to see Bluefield penalized because of an ineligible player...one time, a family of six had to live in a cramp, garage apartment for a year so their child could participate in WV...

I had been hearing App St. was very high on Spurlin for a long time.  I think it's a good fit for him.  
 
On a side note, he went 2-4 with a run scored and an RBI Friday in baseball and his batting average dropped 21 points.  He is 34-47 on the season for a .723 average.  
 
Edit to add; he has played every position in the field, including pitcher and catcher and has committed 3 errors.  That's almost more impressive than the batting average.

Mance's first year, he was 3-7 and his third year was 2-8.  However, in his second year he was 9-3 (8-2 regular season, 1-1 in playoffs). In his fourth season, he was 5-5.  (Mance has only the two referenced losing seasons in his HC career since 1997 at RHS.)
 
I think what he did in his second season was a huge block builder and a motivator for what he wanted to accomplish at Richlands. 
However, as the Mayor said it takes time to develop a program...

I do think you have to give some time to coaches coming in to let them not only grow their system but grow as coaches as well.

I know Union's talent can't and won't last forever. My point is that given what all Turner has at Union, like support and a stable program, it doesn't make sense that he would leave at the moment. Everyone is aware of how bad off our end of the state is. Gate City's proximity to Kingsport helps them out. 
 
I just doubt that Turner has applied. If your source said he did then perhaps he did. I, along with others, doubt that's the case.
