I am so impressed with Tazewell's grit and resolve this year.  I had this team pegged as an 0-10 team for sure, but that team isn't quitting.  They may not make the playoffs but you have to come away with respect.

And contrary to the bizarre ramblings of this board, Bluefield can hit as hard as anyone and has respectable size to boot.

Dook, for you I recommend parking at the high school and walking...

Gotta give Tazewell credit.  Those kids play hard every single week, and the scores are showing it.  There's just a huge disparity of experience and talent, but they don't quit.  Give them 2-3 years, and they'll be tough to beat.

It's got to be something bad to hold me back from a game, or the family schedules a vacation trip during one...I get tired of people bringing down on the team or town for that matter.  Transfers really get at me when they transferred because they want the ring. I hate decals or magnets on cars but come football season I have my T dog displayed proudly on the car everywhere I go.  I have my Dawgs shirt on every game day to work.  I am Tazewell pride and proud and always will be.  I instill it in my kids even though they are home schooled because it is still their team.  I've been to miserable weather conditions to watch what I knew would be a beat down.  I've been to the games when the team has quit and given up.  The players need support no matter what so they can feel that the community is behind them.  So far I have been pleased by traveling fans from Tazewell staying behind the Dogs no matter what.  I'm not saying I am #1 biggest fan but of more than half the people out there I have a right to complain or comment on what I see unlike the ones that just show up for good weather and wins.  I'm sure there are other fans that are the same way and every school needs as many as these as possible.
I'll get off my pedestal now and quit preaching but as the saying goes from back in my high school days ONCE A BULLDOG ALWAYS A BULLDOG!
 

There seems to be one fanbase per year that exposes itself for being knuckleheads.  Hurley was the program last year.  Gate City is on the verge of asking Hurley to hold its beer.

Your dawgs are gonna be good in a couple years if they stay together. The QB and the WR Jordan are talented kids. Keep your head up things will get better 

Everytime y'all mention the Bearded Moose, I start missing my ex mother-in-law for some reason.

Being a former Bulldog player myself, I don't know about Marion being such a big rivalry game either. I do know things got pretty heated at the end of a playoff game over there in '87. If it was going to turn into a big rivalry, it would have definitely been after that. 

And that's the damn problem with this world, trying to please everybody.  You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time...put that in your lesson plan and teach it...

I also seen this in case any Tazewell fans going to the game want to participate.

My two cents...
Gate City and Powell Valley stand out as the top two in terms of an "all-time" perspective.  I give particular weight to the two state titles that they each won in the 1970-1985 time period.  Appalachia was consistently good throughout its existence as well, so it's easy for me to identify the Bulldogs as a not-distant #3.
I'm oddly ambivalent about including Richlands in this discussion.  The current era of high performance (roughly 2000-present) has certainly been a source of pride and joy.  But before 2000, the program overall had a W/L record hovering right around .500 (and the 1970's and 1980's were actually very bad in that regard).
And I think Graham might be extremely underappreciated in this discussion.  With rare exceptions, the G-Men have fielded a competitive product on the gridiron consistently since they started playing back in the 1920's.  Graham was the only SW Virginia school to win a state title in football prior to the 1970 reclassification .  And if they had actually been participating in Group A (and the subsequent Divisions 1 and 2) instead of playing up for as many years as they did after 1970, it's not hard to imagine that they would have acquired even more state and regional hardware than they already possess.
Those are my immediate thoughts with regard to the "all time" discussion.  If we want to limit it to the era that began in 1970, I can think of several schools that belong in the discussion.  But it wouldn't change my observations in this post very much.
 

Really gonna start find new coaches already? Get the **** Out her with that bull****! Freshman and Sophomore's playing both ways with a hand full of Sr's on the team. 

Fundamentals first, work on execution and be consistent. Just because we had explosive offense last year you can't expect the same this year. Yes the dogs were lethargic on offense in the 1st half but they started clicking and doing better in the second. The coaches will be fine. Talk about mixing it up, how about that fake punt?  It didn't work but almost. These guys should be proud of their effort. The season is going to get much harder. Yes the officials were absolutely terrible. Don't know how they missed several things that happened right in front of them but they missed it both ways. Did it affect the outcome, no. Guys stick with it and more will see the dedication and hard work and we can build back. Be proud that you held their offense to 21 and they got 14 of those on short fields. I'm proud of what the dogs did last night. Just keep your heads high and continue to give it your all.

Without looking it up in detail here is my understanding of the transfer rule. As a student enters the ninth grade he can go to any school he wants and would be eligible to play no matter where he lives.   After he enters the ninth grade and decides to transfer, he must make a complete move to be eligible immediately. If he doesn't move he has to wait 365 days after  the transfer.   A complete move means the family must move out of their house and move into a house in the new jurisdiction.   The complete move has to be verified by both principles. Meaning the school he left verifies the complete move OUT of their residence and the new school principle verifies new residency. It looks like the VSHL has left this up to the principles of the schools so they don't have to deal with it. 

The way I see it no matter how the season goes, the seniors are winners on this team.  They stuck it out and stayed committed to the team.  I'll take that anyday over a transfer glory seeker or a quitter.  The players that step out on the field Friday night are already winners no matter what the end score is!

Granted it was Montcalm but like Bulldogs52 said it doesn't matter who it is. I'm a GW fan but all of us have to respect Tazewell this year. Those 24 young men came out to play. In the mist of numerous coaching changes. So those kids are showing pride in their school and a respect for their program by coming out. Even if they don't win a game oh well they are still busting ass to play the game they love. Best of luck to the Bulldogs this season.

At this time it don't matter who it is! It gave these young kids a lot of confidence that they need right now! We know it's gonna be a long tough season for the Dogs... The youth will show but the future looks bright!

Silver was actually the primary color for Richlands in 1995. The history behind the all silver uniforms began in the '94 playoffs against Lee. The Blues warmed up in their standard home blue jerseys then came back out for the game in the new silver jerseys. Ended up putting a then school record 66 points up for the win.
The next year they brought in silver helmets for the all metallic look.
 
I agree, that is by far the worst Tazewell logo. I have always appreciated the big T with the bulldog logo.

It was overtime. It's heartbreaking to think about, much less watch again so I'm glad YouTube deactivated you lol 
on a side note, with playing graham the week before and with the snow that came the night before that might've been the worst field conditions I ever played on...and I played 3 years at Pocahontas lol I remember the first time I hit the ground that day I broke an ice puddle with my elbow and it only got worse after that 

Cannot say enough about that wonderful man.  Following him for the last 6 years, just a privilege and a blessing.
