I think Grayson will be ok. McPherson does a good job. Had a assistant coach to leave, makes a big difference at schools where it’s so hard to have full time teachers as coaches

I take 3-4 every morning to weight lifting, one of the kids said I don’t want to go but I want to play but this s to much work. I said get in the car and you will appreciate your hard work when you get your first job. You will have the nerve to tell a fellow employee who is lazy and just stealing a check to push yourself.

Mark wants the coaches to keep the kids interested by playing them all. That also is some of the problem at lower levels that you touched on, some coaches want to pick the best players and not teach let’s say your worst 10. You have to teach all the kids and let them have fun along the way.

It’s not the same, your missing skill positions. If you have 18 players come out and you have 14 that are flag football players than you shouldn’t field a 8 man team either.Some schools are having trouble fielding girls basketball teams. Would you watch 3on 3 in b-ball

I have watched and coached 8 man. I will not attend 8 man football. If it comes down to it, my Friday nights will be free.

My wife was youth director at Charles city county 16-18 years ago. A lot of these same issues are there, poor county, dysfunction, a lot of work to play football. Lack of discipline

Can tell more about GW this weekend

There are so many reasons outside of concussion talk. Football is time consuming along with hard play which all of you know. A lot of kids don’t want to put in the time and you have some parents say it’s ok because it’s one less travel to worry about. A commitment to football also has to come from the parents as with other sports.This isn’t the case for all but part of it. Add video games and entitlement attitude and the teaching of non-competition( I have actually heard a parent say that scoring should not be kept in jv ball. I asked this parent if I was interviewing your son/daughter for a job opening that I shouldn’t look at their gpa- she said of course you should-so it was sports in general.) The coaching I have done I have not seen one concussion in 3rd-7th grade during a 5 year span not saying there hasn’t been one. I also think there is no sense of pride in playing for your school like there used to be even if you don’t start.

Steele had the second touchdown catch. I think it was Ingram that had a 40 yd run. Speaking for fort-coach Josh Wingate had a pretty good first scrimmage - kept it simple real basic plays on offense, hopefully will add more this week-he has some players that didn’t play because of not enough practice time. Second week of season when jib plays chilhowie will show how much improvement has been made for them. Fort has a chance to be better than last year.

Was at fort/jib scrimmage. On first series jib scored on 10th from about 60 yards on deep fade from Houston Thacker. Fort able was sacked once on their first possession but they scored on about 7-8 play rushing for 85 yards on series. Second 10 play series mostly alternates ended after about 40yds for jib and 70yds for Fort. Next 10 play series for jib ended after 40 yds and fort rushed about yards for score. At end of 10 play part of scrimmage fort 2-1. On to regular play. First series Thacker hit receiver on 3rd and 7 on what looked like skinny post for about 20-25yd td. Fort drove and fumbled about 25yd line on their series. Next series jib drove to about 50 and punted. Jib held fort on next series. Jib defense adjusted and played much better in regular play. On last series substitutes jib punted and fort strode with scrimmaging ending fort 3-2. Jib has gotten much bigger along the lines. I had watched them play twice last year. I think Thacker is the best division 1 QB in west followed by Cale. Also stopped and watched chilhowie/honaker

Most counties have $13-14,000 stipend. So if you have 3 schools like Wythe. Around 4,200 a each. If you are head coach in Pulaski or Carroll after a little time you will get close to the whole amount.

in 2019 Carroll will drop to div 3 - Turner will have them competing-also heard yesterday in 2019 RR will move back to hogoheegee and compete in region 1D.

Yes know him and family, hope he does well, a lot of issues and a few of the kids didn’t come out that has a lot to do with one of the assistants being there.
