preacher 10 Report Share Posted October 10, 2007 It looks like the falcons are going to finish 8-2 and miss the playoffs. That just dont seem right! How can this happen?
ProudBengal 10 Report Share Posted October 10, 2007 It's called the addition of the River Ridge district to our region and the ever popular power points system. There will be quite a few good teams that will not make the Div. 4, Region IV playoffs this year.
Lance 228 Report Share Posted October 10, 2007 there have been many years that there were 9-1 teams that didn't get to go to the show...just the way it is.
BCRAM55 11 Report Share Posted October 10, 2007 They only way to go for sure is to win your district. How many Single A teams has Abingdon played?
preacher 10 Author Report Share Posted October 10, 2007 Three: John Battle, Patrick Henry, & Honaker.
Observer77 12 Report Share Posted October 10, 2007 Â So you've already chalked up wins against Grundy, Virginia High, Graham & Marion? Wow, let me take a hit off that crack pipe!
AbndonFan 10 Report Share Posted October 10, 2007 VA High is Single A also. The loss to Honaker shot us in the foot. We win that game we would have been 5th in points at the time and we controled our own destiny.
Lance 228 Report Share Posted October 10, 2007 you gotta get past Graham to do anything...and I dont see that happening myself.

preacher 10 Author Report Share Posted October 10, 2007 No disrespect to them, but I think we have a better offense and can move the ball on them. If they blitz us, we will burn them with the quick pass. But, we've got to take care of the wave this week.

ehc55 10 Report Share Posted October 10, 2007 I mean this in the most objective way possible... Abingdon will get stroked if they make the playoffs. You get Salem, Blacksburg, or Bassett. You must be able to run off-tackle to win championships and these three can thats why you wouldn't be able to win. Last time Abingdon was able to do this was 92 when they made it to the region championship. They beat blacksburg 28-6 ran for over 400 yards and didn't attempt a pass. Lost to the Blue Tornados in the region finals by the same score.
Cornholio 10 Report Share Posted October 10, 2007 The Buzzards need to Beef up the schedule get rid of all the A schools add some AA
ehc55 10 Report Share Posted October 10, 2007 They will have to hit the road and head up 81 or down 81 either way things are going to get tough for them when all the swd schools make the move to single a.
litltiger 17 Report Share Posted October 10, 2007 id take graham in that one and va high and marion i think could be a tossup.grundy i think u shouldnt have much problem.
mrb 26 Report Share Posted October 10, 2007 Abingdon beating Graham is very possible. I don't see Graham beating Abingdon by more than a couple of points.

Observer77 12 Report Share Posted October 10, 2007 [ QUOTE ] honaker finished 9-1 two or three yrs ago and sit home .yea seems they could make some kinda change to correct this problem . Â [/ QUOTE ] Â Two reasons this may not happen to Honaker (or any other Division 2 Region D school) anytime soon: Â 1 - Beefed up their schedule (Honaker had John Battle, Castlewood, Rye Cove, Twin Springs & St. Paul on their out-of district schedule along with Lebanon & Tazewell) Â 2 - Regional re-aligment & only eight (8) Division 2 teams within the region. GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted October 10, 2007 [ QUOTE ] marion and Graham will be a big task for the falcons. Â [/ QUOTE ] Â And the reason why is... Â Those two teams CAN run the football. Abingdon has MAJOR problems defending the run, especially against teams that are physical...Graham and Marion are the two most physical teams in the SWD this season (sorry Richlands but your #3 on that list). Lance 228 Report Share Posted October 10, 2007 i dont think Grundy will be a walk in the park for Abingdon either. I think it will be a closer game than people think.

swvafball 10 Report Share Posted October 11, 2007 Anybody think a different offense would help them - maybe make them tougher? They haven't been smashmouth since flinchum left in late 90s....what do you think ehc55 - sounds like you know what is going on there???? Guest BB_TWEEDER Report Share Posted October 11, 2007 I see upset. I believe Abingdon will pull this one off against the G-men.
