    Union @ Battle

Looks like everyone was reluctant to start this thread, so here goes. The Bears come in licking their wounds from their first regular season home loss since 2012. Did that wake them up or push them further into hibernation? If Union wins(and Grayson loses) they get to do again next week at home with these same Trojans. Lose and they'll have the Richlands/Va High winner. I think Union wins a hard fought contest 24-10. Of course, there is a slight chance of rain in the forecast for Bristol Friday evening. If that happens, I'm setting the Over/Under on Bear fumbles at 5. Who ya got?

  3. Tim Hayes‏ @Hayes_BHCSports #VHSL Volleyball, Region 1D Tournament Quarterfinals: Chilhowie def. Honaker 25-15, 25-18, 25-16. The defending Region 1D champs are still kicking. Cody Elliott‏ @Cody_DNRSports It’s been a while, but I’m back in Elkton for the regular-season finale between @ERHSeagles (9-0, 7-0 Shenandoah) and @LurayHighSchool (7-2, 5-2 Shenandoah). Austin Holloway breaks through the middle of the East Rock defense for a 50-yard TD run. Luray now trail the Eagles 7-6 after missed extra point. 1Q 6:29. ABC13 Sports Retweeted E.C. 4. I should say yes, mostly. The 2 inside linebackers just play defense and the offensive linemen doesn't start on defense, but comes in.

  6. Radford hasn't received much attention this season. After getting whooped by Galax in week 2, they seem like a different team now, and a young team at that. P.J Prioleau has been the difference maker on offense and defense, but from what I'm hearing he may not play Friday due to an injury that he sustained a few weeks ago. Glenvar is as good as advertised. On offense they do nothing flashy. They will keep pounding it up the middle. Bradey Loader is a LOAD! Not the fastest back but usually one man can't tackle him. They've also started giving Street some carries. He's not as strong as loader but he has more speed. The Highlander defense is the best I've seen all season. Maxx Philpott leads the Timesland in tackles for loss. He had 8 tackles in the backfield against Giles. With Prioleau, I think Glenvar wins 28-14. Without Prioleau, I think itll be 35-7 if not worse.

With the way Union played last week, not out of the realm of possibility.

    Grundy @ Central

I agree Central and Tazwell are both young teams that are looking to the future and getting into the playoffs after a few years sitting on the outside looking in is a big step in getting where there programs want to be

  9. Its that time of year. Last games of the season and being #8 in the rankings pretty important to teams just on the outside looking in. Central has a lot to play for in this one. Grundy is safely in the 1A playoffs. If your not in, you want in and #8 is good enough regardless if you have to play the #1 Seed. At least you are in.

  12. Like I said before, there is a lot of different ways it can go. Who Union will play? But at the end of the day I believe we match up with a lot of teams. Talking about the under dog roll, I know a couple of years ago nobody give us a chance at Dan River. But we pulled it out, we will just have to see how the chips fall. I still feel Union can still go a couple good rounds and more. But Good Luck to all SWVA Teams this year in Play Offs .

  13. I think the student's tragic death last week had a major effect on the teams overall attitude in the Graham game. Not to take away from Graham, as stated before, I have family on both teams, but Richlands was not into the game all night long. You could see that they were down, and even the coaches were affected. At their best, not sure they would have beat Graham, but I think it would have been closer than the largest margin of victory for either team in 40 years. Having stated all that; I think this will be a good game and I see Richlands using ball control (or clock control) and coming out with a slim victory. Both teams have had good games and bad games. Hopefully both will do well, and play injury free. Good luck to both in the playoffs and well wishes to either if they play Graham in the first round.

  14. The autumn leaves are less colorful this year. Experts say it was from a warmer than usual September; however, a few people are blaming Chris Akers. Who should I believe?
