Plywood_King got a reaction from Deleted Account in Scrims & Benefit games : Aug 18-21
The finals of benefit games are very deceiving, but if you're a Lee fan, you've got to be somewhat optimistic about that.

Dickenson County wasn't prepared for a Tazewell parade.

Council Cobras need a reboot just to improve the 0-40 all-time record. To guarantee success, their entire schedule could be teams from Eastern KY. FEAR THE SNAKE, BETSY LAYNE!

Not looking good for the Rich Valley Steers, Atkins Bulldogs, or Sugar Grove Maple Leafs being able to field a team this year.

A few other notable programs on hold at the moment -
Garden Green Dragons
Whitewood Indians
Ervinton Rebels
Haysi Tigers
Clintwood Green Wave
Pocahontas Indians
Raven Crimson Tide
Let's hope these teams get back on the gridiron soon!

Plywood_King got a reaction from Jags52 in Holston job
I think he's referring to the town/county itself rather than the football program. Smyth County saw it's manufacturing base slowly crumble from the closing of Olin in Saltville in the mid-70s, through the introduction of NAFTA in the 90s. The powers that be did little to nothing to stop it, and as a result, Washington and Wythe Counties picked up the pieces. While Marion is certainly a nicer place to be than when it hit rock bottom 20 years ago, having a more exciting night life hasn't given people a reason to stay when there's very little opportunity for unskilled laborers, and it's reflected in Marion and Northwood's enrollments that are less than half of what it once was.
I know that most of SWVA can relate to that, but it's incredibly frustrating looking at how much better your neighbors handled things when their backs were to the wall.

Plywood_King got a reaction from cityofRaven in MTN. MAYHEM SCRIMMAGES - CANCELLED
Some of those schools will have good teams, some will not. Overall, a friendly showing of talent before the season gets a 4 (fluorite) on the Mohs Hardness Scale from me.

Remember when everybody said that Marion was dodging Richlands by joining the Hogo? That was such a simpler time.

Despite Grundy having some really good teams in the late 90's and early 00's, Richlands has had their number winning the last 17, including the one mentioned above.
It's like the Golden Wave sold their golden soul (and clock keeping abilities 😉) to get that 1995 playoff victory...

Abingdon won outright in 2014. They went 8-2 with their only losses coming from Gate City and Marion, both of which were out of district.

FFS, nobody gives a damn about y'all fluffing yourselves over politics. Take it to the soapbox.
