Major congratulations to Graham High Coach Tim Woodward, a great performance in the states.  One state champion...  Really brought the program up from nothing.

Graham most likely has Tazewell on 9/2 right? If so, with Richlands playing Union that day then Graham should benefit greatly from that short week.

That is the Saturday of VT/UT in Bristol. Smart move playing on Thursday lol.

To beat Richlands, you're gonna have to outscore Richlands, IMO. And that may take 42+ to beat the RHS offense. Only losing RB and one WR, and adding in the Graham transfer, the only real question for the Richlands offense is RB. The defense is the unit that lost the most. So it may take a few games for that unit to gel. I could be wrong, but I think it's gonna take 42 or more to beat Richlands this year unless a team has a special defense (ala Appo last season).

VT released a press release today regarding updating the Merriman Center and all of the wording in th renderings have a new look font. What do you guys think of it? I like it.

Just my opinion but the Bears will have their hands full with GC this year.. Hunter Collier back with McClung and others. Bears barely scraped their way back last game to beat GC.. I'm not from Union or GC..The schedule GC plays in early season is that which a few teams only face in playoffs. Bears will be a good team...will they be as good as last year is yet to be seen. Richlands lost a ton of great seniors too.. Don't know if they will be as good as last years team.. Time will tell. Teams may have guys who will step up and amaze their fan base.  

And they took the 3B from Lebanon too.  

Why the Thursday night game? I assume Beaver will have Mitchell on Friday but I would think that the Graham game is still good enough to have on a Saturday night.

Congrats Marion girls!  Great job,  My great neice is on that team.

Better candidate? Absolutely.
Better leader? Definitely not.

....and she is still a better candidate than Donald Trump!

Congrats to both Grundy and Rural Retreat!!! Both programs are doing really well and representing SWVA.  We had several individual state champs and state placers from our area.  A great weekend for a sport that gets very little recognition.

Regardless of tomorrow nights outcome, GMan has won this years bracket challenge!! Congrats to him and thanks to all who played this year.

Bridgeport's only loss was to AAA #8-Wheeling Park, 14-10, in the second game of the season. They beat AAA #9 Lewis Co., 14-7, in the third game of the season.  The beat #8 AA R.C.Byrd (31-7), #9 AA Keyser (31-6), and #12 AA Fairmont (42-7).  Sounds like they are pretty solid again.
 
For comparison, #2-Frankfort beat R.C. Byrd (27-21 2OT) and Keyser (28-27 OT)

Point Pleasant only had nine games this season.

Capital and Beckley were scheduled to play several weeks ago, but from what I understand the conference (MSAC) forgot to schedule any officials. So the teams arrived to play, but the officials did not and the game was not rescheduled.

Interesting in AAA, that I see three teams that finished with 9 games.  Capital (9-0), Point Pleasant (9-0), and Woodrow Wilson (6-3).  That was the problem that Bluefield used to have, having a hard time getting 10 games.
 
So, #3 Bluefield will play #14 Ravenswood at home.  What I am curious about is how good Bridgeport and Frankfort are...
