" Last night as we played Wythe, I suffered a concussion, I don't remember the play it happened on. I remember waking up sitting on the bench beside coach Fuller, and I had already finished the concussion test. I told him that the test didn't mean anything, because I have it memorized from previous concussions. I told him thay I have one, because I didn't remember anything. To this moment, I only remember one play of the game. The doctors have told me I can't play anymore. I'd like to thank my coaches for everything they've done, for Honaker fans for making the game fun, and my teammates for giving me someone to fight for, and for being my brothers. Lastly, give every play everything you have, because you don't know which is your last. I don't get to remember my last play, and I hope I gave it my all, so I didn't disappoint my team, community, and coaches."

Questioning Stripes or any other official's integrity is not something Hurley or any other fan base needs to do. It just goes to show how ignorant some people really are. 

Hurley has a solid program and does very well for a school of their size. Do they stay away from 2A schools? Of course and for good reason. This Rebel team is very good but if they graduate 7 starters then the next two teams might not be very good. Its literally year to year for these schools. Appy and JIB were brought up, remember both of those had enrollments well above 300 students in their glory days(JIB was  up around 325-350 in the 2000s) and Appy was just a powerhouse, no doubt about it. But those are 2 programs with dozens of examples of others of similar size that couldn't do that.  Does Hurleys schedule need to toughen up, obviously, part of that is their fault and part isint.
 
Failing to see how larger schools have a decided advantage over smaller schools is idiotic. The VHSL realizes this, as does every other state. If it was a non issues we wouldn't have classifications. Saying "you can only play 11 at a time" is ignorant at best. If you don't understand that then you don't understand high school football. That's not saying a 2A will always beat a 1a, its saying that chances are the larger school will come out on top.
 
Now on to the Rebel fans. Some are good people and understand football, some are hyper defensive of their school/team/community. Ive had my run ins with them on here before. Some of you need to cool it, youre doing the same thing you do almost every year(and ive said this before), you blow them up to be world beaters(on here and in real life) and then when they slip everyone talks trash about them.
 
 
And questioning Stripes integrity is bullshit, plain and simple. Hes a good dude.

Two or three stops on defense and you never know, I didn't say "would have" I said "could have" listen and read before you type, and as with most Union fans you all are suppose to win every game against anybody, including Alabama if they wouldn't be scared to play you.

Patrick Henry still plays football, they have been irrelevant about a long as Notre Dame has been in NCAA football. 

In my deep explorations of the Southwest U.S. ( Arizona in particular ) the Apache had a sacred place that was roughly translated "the finger of God" it was a mesa with one large straight rock pointing to the heavens, anyway, legend goes, that to even think about lying or being disrespectful meant being killed on the spot and  the elders or the Chief just had to think you were being disrespectful for them to order your punishment, so think before you type and remember G-Man is watching.

Mount View did ok in football until the last ten years.  They actually had good baseball teams.  The exodus of almost all working class families is the real struggle in McDowell County. There actually are some jobs there but most who work there live in Bluefield, Princeton, Beckley and Tazewell. 
 
As a historian consolidations present a challenge. For football if 2 or more football schools consolidate then the football history for me starts anew. Ridgeview is a new school and they may pull on the fine histories of the schools in Dickenson County but no one is going to call them champions until the new school wins one or more. Clintwood's football championships were/are Clintwood's and not Ridgeview's.  Just as Appalachia and Powell Valley's championship do not belong to Union. Now that doesn't mean that the new school shouldn't look to the great history of the area and promote if they want to but no one is giving Union credit for any championships until they win one.

I would love have all Coach Smith's notes and records to compile and complete. I would be more than Happy to add all those stats up. Mr. Smith was my favorite teacher of all time and do finish that work would be an honor.

Coach Jones believes in discipline and the babied kids at Volunteer don't like it and hence the parents don't like it. That is why Volunteer has never won and never will.

Does it really matter, they will play three or four backs a game anyway, with the offensive production they should have I wouldn't stress myself over who the starter would be.

Kids transfer from schools every year , that is a fact of life you must learn to except or be pissed off all the time. With the demographics of Virginia changing a State champion from our end of Virginia is going to become as rare as it is from Northeast Tn. I'm not expecting a champion this year from S.W. Va. ( I hope some schools can prove me wrong and I'll gladly eat that crow) this season and to transfer just for a shot at a title is a little selfish, but you are dealing with 16 & 17 year old kids and parents that give them anything they want. With that being said if they transfer within the rules the adults have to make the decision to act like an adult or behave worse that the kid that left. Be a adult and just realize times are different now.

The rest is in danger of just going away. And our coal industry isn't the only one suffering now The Powder River Basin mines are shipping about 50% less coal than they were a year ago. We in our lifetimes, unless a miracle occurs will see the complete banishment of an entire industry. Along with the railroad jobs, the support jobs, the power plant jobs and the stores and families that they support.

I am not on a high horse; that's that fake general from Lee's job. I'm a GC fan but also delve in what some people know as reality, and reality is that until you kill the giant, he still lives. Union lives in your head plain and simple. Beat them on the field and then everyone will shut up. I wouldn't worry about GC getting Sullivan North, I would worry about the couple of dozen kids we get from Sullivan South, but by the time they get in the system in 2019 the VHSL will have already have changed the classifications again and maybe Lee will be in 1A and maybe they can compete then.

Lee still will never win the Mountain District. 2014 was one year what about the other years. When Union is down Gate City will win it and Ridgeview will have something to say after the growing pains phase they are going through. As far as the refs go, the NCAA, NFL, and MLB have replay and they still sometimes get it wrong, get over it.
