Definitely the game of the week in SWVA in my opinion.. Being a home game will help Lee but I think VA High may have a little to much speed on offense and Lee is a little one dimensional so I'm taking VA High in a close one, maybe a high scoring close one. From the way it looks it could very well be "win or go home".

If Union can slow down the QB it's gonna be a long night for Central. Also can anyone tell me about the parking at Central, I was told you have to park at wal mart and catch a shuttle up the hill but that has to be a joke right.

So Twin Springs takes Burton into OT, Burton loses to Chilhowie by one , 33-32. Chilhowie has proven to be a pretty good team by beating Tazwell and VA High and crushes Twin Springs. I know its all about matchups and how a team plays in certain weeks but just getting some thoughts and throwing a few things out there. Castlewood plays TS this friday for TS home coming, whats the thoughts on this matchup and the Cumberland? Right now Burton looks like the top dog but if Cwood was to blow out the team that took Burton to OT it could make this district pretty interesting. And please I understand these teams are not Union or Gatecity just talking football for what these teams are.

Here comes the week when Lee runs into a talented team and gets knocked off their high horse.

It is definitely gonna be a good one. As always a measuring stick kinda game for both teams. Its been true for 30 years and its gonna be true this Friday. the winner of this game is gonna have a good season.
 
I went down and watched our brothers from West DC take on the Eagles of Rye Cove, saw some of the Ole Head Waves tricks; I dig the Wild Willie formation(smart move), saw some Jet Sweep, and most of all saw a team that came to play. 
 
Its easy to say Haysi has more talent(and they do) but those Clintwood boys get after it, execute the Wave offense very well and are not to be overlooked.
 
Haysi has had a week off to prepare and im sure they smoothed out any issues they had against Castlewood, might have even put in something special. Its been almost a decade since Clintwood played the underdog role in this matchup and im sure they would like nothing better than to upset The Tigers in the final regular season match up of these two storied programs.
 
You are definitely right about 1 thing, Haysi would love to put a hurtin' on Clintwood in this matchup(after the beatings of the past 6 or so years I think we deserve to get our licks in).
 
Three things are for certain; im gonna be decked out in my RED, if you want a seat you better get there EARLY, and its gonna be a HEAD KNOCKER!

Looks like tomorrows nights game will have some white stuff. Possibly some significant accumulations too. Maybe those playing tonight were on to something. 

I played with coach Palmer in high school and he was just as intense as a player as he is a coach,  and was a hard worker !  He has done a great job with the D and the move down to the field was a big part of that I believe also.  I think he also get's a better feel for the game down there than upstairs !

I think its all Union in this one. Central will put up a fight but Union will be too much.

I'd like to Congratulate Appomattox on beating Richlands for the State Championship last week. It's a shame the VHSL is making them play these 2 exhibition games after that.

now my friend may think, i miss lead him a bit,,,, but i'm sitckin buy my post....haysi is coming to ralphs house, lookin to put a hurtin...on the wave , they return a load of  starters  8 and 8 if i'm not mistaken,,  clintwood  has a few returning...course #5 is there, but he cannot do it alll...it could go either way....blow out.... or close  one.... its hard  to,  compete, against someone you are gonna PLAY with, next year....just my thinking of course.... when the whistle blows... for kick off.... all consolidation is not even a thought......... going to be a head knocker..... ...

it will get you fired up for high school football

They are having a great boys tournament next week (Dec 10 - Dec 12) at VA High School in Bristol VA. I attached a file with the bracket showing the teams & times. This tournament will feature Oak Hill Academy (Grayson Co VA), Evelyn Mack Academy (Charlotte NC), Hamilton Heights Academy (Chattanooga TN), Covenant Christian Academy (Marietta GA), & Faith Assembly Academy (Durham NC). There will also be 3 local schools playing. They are Abingdon, Lebanon, & VA High. This should be a very good tournament with 8 Division 1 commits & 5 kids in the ESPN top 100. Tickets are only $8 per day. It might be your only chance this year to see this much High School talent in one gym. Scan2.pdf

Mance was really after the boys today. The boys had a good one and look so much better. Farris is getting closer and is working very hard. Cant wait for the young man to get back on the field. Still a week or two away probably.
 
Has any Richlands posters noticed that every since Mance brought Coach Palmer down out of the booth and onto the sideline how much better the defense has played? It even seems like the boys play even harder for him. Palmer is such an intense Coach I believe the boys are feeding off that emotion on Friday Nights and channeling that on the field. Just my thoughts

Richlands has the best coaching staff this side of Roanoke and I mean the entire this side of Roanoke this time. They also have kids who put in the time and work to be the best they can be. Much repsect for this program that is really the dynasty program of SWVA. Richlands 35 Abingdon Cheese Eaters 10.

Huge game this week in Ben Hur (or is it still technically Jonesville?) with a almost-certain win-or-go-home factor for both teams' playoff hopes. Should be a fairly even game, any thoughts?

Thoughts? This has become a pretty good rivalry recently in all sports. Hatred from both sides. Union has more overall team talent but it's at Central and the Warriors always seem to play the Bears tougher than many think. Central gave the game away last year at Union, so don't be shocked if the district trophy ends up at Central High.

I know this is the football forum but since most people are on hear during football I thought I would post it here. Derrick Murphy who played baseball for honaker and was one of the starting pitchers on honakers 2011 state championship team and a senior on Union Colleges baseball team is very sick and in Bristol hospital needing a lot of prayers. Thanks in advance guys.
