No idea about this game I have to see a team to predict a winner and I have never seen Lee.  This I do know, I am so glad the meaningless regional tournament is over.   I am here to say what everyone knows but is too politically correct to say, Gate City is the TRUE 2 seed and region runner up out of the West.  What a flawed system of meaningless tournaments and misleading facts.

After watching all 4 teams left, IMO there is no clear favorite. I feel like any one of the 4 can beat the others on any given night.
 
Any one else got an opinion on the teams left in the west?

Amelia was able to upset East Rock. They are a very scrappy team (the ones you gotta watch out for). Anything can happen, but until Richlands finds an offense that consists of something other than 3's at the top of the key and a Ball spin move down low to the hoop, it will be hard for them to win vs quality opponents. The 3's stopped dropping after the 1st qtr for Richlands, and you could slowly see the mojo shifting. Once DR weathered the storm they then took the game over by forcing turnovers and Richlands could never recover. Richlands should have slowed the pace but they played right into Dan River's hands by running and trying gun. I think this may be the end of the road for Richlands.

Flawed or not, it is what it is. To win state you must beat the best teams regardless. I've seen a few clips of RE Lee, and from the highlights of their game last night with Madison they gave up a lot of baskets at the rim. If they do that with Mac and Zac, I like our chances. The key will be making outside shots fall. Dean has 5 days to find his shot, he or Collier will be the difference. One of them needs double digits for GC to advance to the state semis, period. Mac and Zac can't do it all, we'll be going home Friday if we expect those 2 to do everything.

Damn....lose 2 straight and still alive to win a state title...wow what a great system this is....SMDH

Richlands plays Chatham this evening.  Any thoughts on this game?  I tried finding info on Chatham but all I could find was that their record at 15&9.  Anybody have some info on them?  Thanks

What's everyone's take on this West Regional Semifinal game?
 
I hope the Devils can continue on what they done Tuesday and come out with a victory. It would be a huge to keep from playing a top seed from the East. I think GC gets it done. But close.

I think it is safe to say Scottie Ball owned this game.  I was a little off of the 23 point victory Richlands only won by 16.  I was a little sharper on the gate city game, predicting a score of 77 to 62 and it was 78 to 63.  Richlands was up by 18 at one point.  Congratulations to Richlands on their first Region Win.  Good luck from here on out.

Milo may be the smartest guy on this board! Lol.. Plain and simple, Richlands took it to us. We were out coached and out hustled. Richlands exposed our weakness staying in a zone D, Union has a tendancy to stand around on offense and they knew it. On D, we had no answer. Good game by Richlands and good luck moving forward.

There was only one JV call up that played last night and that was for about 1 minute of playing time.  The other 2 JV call ups did not see the floor at all.  The 3 players you mention are part of their normal rotation.  Last few games, Richlands has not subbed 5 in 5 out like they had most of the season.  Seems that they are playing an 8 man rotation for the playoffs.

Must've been an awesome consolation prize for Richlands to throw the game.
 
I bet Virginia High just flat out whipped em. They didn't really beat them convincingly in the regular season anyways. Richlands only won by 12 and 16. Pitiful to lose to a 7 loss team this time of year.

GC is healthy and playing at home along with the psychological block of Union not being able to beat Gate City. GC won by 13 at home with Ervin and Dean not 100% (ya ya I know Union had some guys hurt but where were they at UVAW?) GC took the win at a neutral site by 14 with Dean playing with the flu. I think GC being healthy this time around at home blows the game wide open. This game "might not matter" but I guarantee Scotty and the team want to win it and will play to win. If Union does or not, that's on them. But GC does have something to play for, an undefeated season vs Virginia schools and tomorrow they play for the Conference 40 Tournament Championship. Another trophy we'll gladly add to our huge collection.

Probably might end up with same teams with current format but who knows this time of year. I thought it would be very interesting to see some of the matchups if the West did their tournament like the East.

This is why I think you won't see very many SWVA folks make the trip up to James River next week for the regionals.  If you win next Tuesday/Wednesday, you're going to Harrisonburg regardless the next week.  The games at James River are for state tournament seeding only more or less.
