I will say this, from my time on this board it’s apparent that most SWD fans really don’t know much about any M7 team other than Union.  I’m an old SWD guy (when they had 11 teams in the district)and follow the M7 more now due to relatives that play on some of the M7 teams.  I watch a lot of football from both sides and there is a lot of stereotypes or hot takes that are a bit off.  That’s why I loved the first round playoff format where the two districts played each other.  There is a lot of homerism on here and that’s to be expected.  It’s good to stand for your team but sometimes the truth is the truth and it will usually play out.  I was blasted for saying Central’s D was the best in the M7 and they had the best LB core….both were true and on display when they played Union.  I was blasted for saying the RV QB is the best or seconD best QB in the region right now.  Was told he’s 3rd best in M7 alone. That’s proving itself out.  Just be open minded and freely debate….it’s what keep the board interesting..or else we go back to Graham and Union ping pong topics.  Lol.

Only thing painful to watch is Tazewell football.  Where every next year is their year.  Tazewell football not relevant since 87.  

Richlands almost ended Ridgeview’s season 1 round too early (as is tradition) and Graham blew Ridgeview off the field in the final 3 quarters.  
 
It’s also much harder to bracket a WR when the base offensive set is 4 WR.  You bracket Harris in a 4 WR set, Creasy’s either running for 20+ yards or you’re leaving Mullins, Mills (who got all-state votes at TE), or McDonald wide open.  You clearly don’t have a grasp on what you’re saying.

I agree that SWD was loaded with WR talent, along with BEAVERS!  Stats do play into it, but also how far your team goes does as well, which shows in the voting!

I agree. It seems they go off stats and how deep you go in the playoffs. Lomax 2nd Team RB? Maybe I have him on a pedestal he shouldn't be on but the kid had crazy numbers only playing 2 quarters for most of the season. He was a beast. I thought for sure Harris would be 1st team.
I have come to the conclusion when the season is over don't look at the awards because you are only going to get frustrated. 

I don’t think people get too worked up about it.  As a process oriented guy, I’m just curious if there is a method to the madness….especially when most of the voters have never seen the kids play personally.  I’ve also been around this world long enough to know…most processes are ill defined, rarely audited/updated and due diligence is often not paid.  Trust me I have much more pressing issues to get worked up about.  

ain't none of them know how to get a good elbow in during the flow of the game anymore,   back in the day you took care of that without getting ejected.  

NO....they should be released next week after the state game.

We hear that a lot of the South Abingtonites already have the Baby Buzzards playing in Salem next Saturday.  They must not know much about those Galax Fiddlers. Typical Abington arrogance. Arrogance equates to a Loser, even if you win.

I think the adults are the only ones making a big deal about this.  Congrats to the young man, that's all that needs to be said. I hope Mr. Blevins is healed up and ready to go on Saturday.  That kid is all heart and as tough as nails.    

I graduated from Graham, and if Tazewell can’t win it, I hope Graham does.  All I’m saying, I’d be hesitant to parade those trophies on social media like deer heads when a few of my teammates might take a little umbrage with the voting results.

That’s a pretty big breach of historical etiquette.  Though the voting happened a while ago, teams and accolades customarily are not released until the final district team is eliminated from the playoffs or wins the state championship.  Given that a couple of other worthy candidates are on Graham’s team, I’m a bit disappointed in the timing.

Union fans signing a petition to get him out too because he didn't beat Graham? 🙄

Union has two assistant coaches from Haysi.... Dickenson County is totally sabotaging the Union program from within.  Only reasoning as to why Union got spanked by Graham.  It can't be the fact that Graham is actually, I don't know... maybe good or something?

There are more important things for graham than who wins player of the year....or at least I hope there is

Ok, I understand that, but do you know there weren’t any adjustments or did you just observe that it looked the same. There are a lot of factors go into a game plan I am sure, like personnel. If they had switched to a 40 or 50 front, but had small guys in because they didn’t have size to do it, would that have been better? If your best players are more suited for a 3-3 or 3-5, is it better to leave them or put them in something they can’t play in just for The sake of saying you adjusted something. 
I am truly not trying to sound like a prick, if I do I apologize, just having a conversation about what I saw on NFHS. I wasn’t there, but I can only imagine what goes into a game plan at these size schools for these big games. And in game adjustments when you are getting beat 48-13. Does 42-13 or 34-13 change anything. 
As a fan, and a follower of Union from a distance, I try not to question what coaches do because we as fans don’t know what goes on at their practice. And to say let’s start a petition to get rid of someone on a chatroom to me is crazy. 
 
 

Aye 🤣, now there’s a classic and so far the #1 post on this laughable topic thread.

Bluefield Reseacher, will all due respect, Uncle Percy says you are wrong.  There’s more than 33 expert coaches on here.  Also, Cousins Claude and Delbert have came up with the solution to solve the so called problems at Union.  Fire all the coaches and make Union’s Hammer the head and only Union Coach.  

You may get what you wish for, but just look forward to what you are going to get.  Travis Turner is courted for every big job in the area, and he always stays loyal.  What’s funny is how fans react, and how “SPOILED” some in BSG/APPY are.  The 80s-90s were two of the best runs in Southwest Virginia ever by PV/APPY!  Whether you want to believe it of not, that kind of talent isnt over there currently.  Graham has had a great run of talent, and it shows.  There is a lot of “FUTURE TALENT” on its way at UNION.  Style of play is one thing, but having the “JIMMYS and JOES” is different.  

If Tony Palmer hadn't proved how much he loves Graham and these kids before, he definitely did this week. The example he set this week is first rate. Good coach even better person.

You get no argument from me on Coach Turner. I agree he’s one of the best & well respected. I believe Union will have their day and go on to win a state championship. Union is a contender every year in the playoffs.  I just think a lot of PV/Appy got spoiled by winning so many 1A titles & expected Union to do the same right off the bat. That’s just my take on it.
