GC girls over Johnson Co., TN 62-45

No head coaching experience but I'm ok with the hire. I still think Reed deserved it but some on here have said he didn't want it. I don't know why he's apply though if he didn't want it. I do hope he stays on the staff though. JH should be able to get some interest back in football at GC and make them relevant again in the near future.

What happened to the GC coach thread?

Does anyone think it will snow this Christmas? I don't think that's been discussed yet. It's already cold and had some flurries and it's early December.

I hope Graham comes out like they did against Radford. You got to believe that Goochland has been playing very inspired ball since the playoffs started, seeing that they weren't picked to be where they are. That type of outside noise can really bring a team together to play some really good football and it looks like it has for them. I would expect it to be a good, solid, 4 quarter game. I'll be pulling for Graham.

If I'm not mistaken, that game was moved up a day because of the weather. That probably hurt the attendance a little. I also believe the volleyball team was playing that same night in the district tournament maybe.

When you were watching the game was MAC actually guarding Clemons? I saw a guy post something on a Georgetown message board with his points broken down by who was guarding him. He scored 25 while Akinjo was on him. He scored 13 when Jagan was guarding him and 7 points in transition. None of his 45 points came while MAC was guarding him according to that poster. I didn't watch the game so I don't know. Looking at your posts, you insinuate that MAC was the primary defender and poking at the 6 points not being a good trade off to giving up 45 points.

The main defender on Clemons was Akinjo. I'm sure at times MAC guarded him but not most of the game. A lot of his points seemed late in the game when he was jacking up 3's and making them. If MAC was from Graham then the doubters would give him the time that's needed but since he's from GC they're already trying to say he can't hack it.

Gate City drew Wenonah out of Birmingham, Alabama. I looked them up and they've already played some games winning by 20+ in each of them it seems. I believe they returned everybody from last years team. Union drew one of the play in games vs the Bahamas team. If they win that they'll face Bearden, TN.

And for GC's opponents regular season record, 61-39.

Most of it isn't GC folks posting, it's others who are desperate to keep GC football relevant.

I agree with them being in the M7 based on geography. What they need to do is try and schedule bigger schools for all of their OOC games, which they may have done this year I'm not for sure.

A lot of these "bad calls" are just part of the human element of the game. High school doesn't have replay so you aren't going to get the correct call 100% of the time. The article is obviously biased when it comes to the team that wasn't getting the good end of the calls but it was nice that he mentioned it wasn't the only reason that team lost the game. The chain guys, however, shouldn't be allowed on the field anymore. You don't want guys who may not have anything to do with a program destroying all credibility that it may have.

LB wins 34-14!!! This is the type of game where Abingdon's schedule does them no favors. They haven't faced a team of this quality since Pulaski.

I saw the highlights on wcyb and the field looked muuuuudddyy! I don't know what kind of field LB has but if it's natural grass, Abingdon should pray for rain. They seem to play pretty well in the bad conditions.

This was fun to do. Thanks for running it and this season. It's hard to believe another regular season is already over. Time goes by way too fast!

If there is any slither of truth to that, I don't think anybody would mind.

Maybe they can make a run like they did a few years ago when LB knocked them out in the 3rd round I believe.

Chilhowie should roll through the region. IMHO, they just need to get through injury free because there isn't anybody in Region D that can match up to them.

Why would they play at Boone? That's messed up for them to play a huge rival at their place in the playoffs when they've beaten them already.

I know Abingdon is the only team in 3A so do they have a chance at winning a game? Hidden Valley beat them earlier in the season and they are only (3-7). Abingdon has played some good ball lately but it's against 2A teams. Does anyone feel like they've improved enough since that game to pull out the W?
