RVs run game is very good. The line does a great job opening up holes for the studs they have in the back field. They really only need to successfully throw the ball 5 times a game to keep the D Honest. I don’t know know much about JI but if they have anything less than a great front 7 they got no chance.

GW has a lot of talent at the skill positions as always but if any team that can control the line of scrimmage will give them a run for their money

I agree it’s a no but the talent they have is at the skill positions they are very weak in the trenches and Richlands is very well coached in the trenches might be close but games are won up front and until Tazewell improves there it will be the same old story

I have seen that happen too and that is a just sad for the kids honestly. I think is good to have a summer job in high school but a 14-17 year old kid shouldn’t have to quit a sport to put food on the table. As far as fumes go those vape pens and juuls are probably the worst thing to happen to high school kids. You can’t keep them away from it

Also I wouldn’t worry about numbers until August 1st unfortunately a lot of kids have lost the value of hard work in this day and age so off-season numbers are going to be lower

8 man football in this area would pretty much eliminate the 1a classification on this side of the state but at the same time might give smaller schools a better chance to have some success. Coaches would have to adapt in a big way if we went to 8 man and would probably keep assistant coach from getting paid and force them out of the area.

They have had some monsters up front the last few year (big in height and weight but didn’t look like they bought into the weight room that much) and the Scarborough kid was a beast 2 years ago but the mountain 7 has been brutal the last few years. It’s got to be hard to win when you don’t have the support like Union Ridgeview and Abingdon have.

I hate to see him leave battle. Stone is a good coach and his kids were always respectful and had great sportsmanship which says a lot about the guy in charge. I wish him the best of luck at the new job. As far as who will take over it has to be slim pickings with Marion, Fort Chiswell, Northwood, and Gate City all opening up. I’m sure the same group of guys have been applying hopefully one of those guys get a shot.
