Shoutout to Central for not giving up when it was 18-0 and showing a ton of fight & to both teams for giving us a wild finish in OT
I'm so proud of our guys 

This was an absolute dandy ballgame to watch, hated to see one team lose. It was back and forth all night. The Jones kid from Va. High has a cannon for a arm. and he has 2 speedsters at wide out that can flat out run.  Central had their chances tonight to come away with the win but little mistakes here and there kept them from coming out of Bristol with the W. 

I think people will say we should have been like Northeast Tenn and went ahead and played. Cause Hokie777, I bet you got some SWVA football fans that are traveling over to Tn on Friday nights to watch some high school football. So TN has been playing football for what 2 weeks now and have there been any cases of the COVID19 from any of the players that are playing right now?

I heard Bishop pitched really well.  You definitely have to keep that lineup off balance.  They can hit fastballs.  

He did pitch well, Lebanon left a village on the base paths and ran up his pitch count but he always seemed to buckle down when he needed to and avoid a big inning.

The Ref that was underneath the basket was on the other side., 2nd official was standing infront of Centrals bench and the 3rd was on the opposite side and he was the one that waived the basket off at the end of the game. I've seen 2 different videos one from Twitter and then the angle from which these pictures are taken and Hayes gets the shot off and then u hear the buzzer sound. But I have no doubt that the 3rd official was looking at the lights on the backboard and waived it off. But in High School basketball you go by the horn not the lights cause no high school around has the lights on the backboard.

These pics ought to be sent to higher ups in vhsl officiating! Where were the refs standing! Whole season of work and dreams of players clobbered on one play!

I know I counted atleast 9 they missed in the 1st half.  When Gate City was trying to run the clock out and Central got the steal with 15 seconds why didn't Central call a timeout to set something up.

I was at the this game, and Richlands had a great game plan and came out from the opening tip and out hustled Central the whole first half, Now after the 1st half Central changed up its Defense and gave Richlands different looks. My opinion on when the momentum shifted was in the middle of the 3rd Quarter when Central got it inside to there Big man (Tre Mullins) and he scored 5 straight points, and Simmons got his 4th foul for Richlands and Central went on a run. Now Central bounced from a 2-3 zone to a 3-2 zone. which kept the Berry Kid in check in the 2nd half. I don't think he took a shot the whole 2nd half. Also when the Simmons kid posted up he was met my several players from Central, He saw Jordan Bishop, Brody Allison or Elijah Hayes when he went to make a post move. And if I'm correct I don't think he scored in the 2nd half either.  Now I've watched a lot of high school basketball over the years and I have to say that Richlands has one of the Classiest basketball staffs around, not sure of the head coach's name but he is a Class act.
 
 
 

Why you think Central is the most talented? What kind of numbers are there 3-7 guys putting up?  I say if you took the top two players off each team and made 3-7 go at it. GC, Abingdon, Union, and Lee would all beat Wise. 

Their is talent around him, but hard to see it when they never get the opportunity to show it!!! Most are scared to shoot it, or make any mistake because they will get pulled to the bench!!! 

I've watched Isaiah play ball ever since he was little and he's always been a good basketball player. There are times that I've seen him play this year and hes been what u call a ball hog. I've always said if he would play team basketball and run the offense and get others involved in the post that it would open up the perimeter for the outside game that he has. and it would make him a more well rounded player like Hayes. Hayes can score when he wants but when he's on a fast break he's gonna get to the open man for the best shot.  But for the talent and height that Central has this year, they don't have a inside post game what so ever. they have 3 kids over '6'4 (Mullins, Collie, Bishop) that have post moves but are not used at all. I just think if Central would get back to playing Fundamental Team basketball like they did back in the summer they could make a run. But i'm afraid some egos are gonna get in the way of how far this Central team can go and sadly they both have the same last name.

Was told the scrimmage is gonna be played at Va High on Monday March 11th

Such an amazing run. All of SWVA should be mighty proud of these ladies and their class act leader.

Scrimmage between Central and Floyd Co. was a long and cold one. But Coach Salyers used it to see what talent he has and where he can play kids. He moved kids around all day playing them at different positions.
As far as the Pitchers for Central they came out and threw the ball well.
Collins seen a inning of work and had a couple of strikeouts. Brickey also seen a inning of work and 1-2 strikeouts but showed good control
Bishop pitched 2 innings and had good control and velocity and ended up with 4 strikeouts. 
Now for Central at the plate they put the ball in play at times but also looked at a lot of pitches too, but it’s early though. When Central had runners on base they were moving and it looks like they will have a ton of speed and will look to use that as a way to produce runs this year.
 
Now as for Floyd County, Va. They looked like they are a young team this year. But they  have  a couple of guys that can swing the bat very well and they play solid defense as well.  Like to wish them well on their Season.

No not many programs could do what they have done, but its shows how well of a coach Damron is at Eastside. I've seen a few of their games this year and he rarely says anything to the officals but also at the same time fights for his players when he thinks it was a wrong call. I can tell the players respect that and that's why they play so hard for their head coach.

I know Central and Va High are set to scrimmage this Saturday if the weather will cooperate....but doesn’t look promising 

I agree with you Gridiron60, and I guess i’m used to that way cause that’s how it was when I played. But the VHSL is worried more about getting the money from these games.
