I've said this all year.  Region 2D is down this year but I've not followed the other regions enough to say 2D can't win it all.  Union has been the best team in 2D this year and I feel like they would have been the third best team last year. The individual talent is down, especially in the class of '24.  The class of '25 and '26 are shaping up to be good classes. 

With the talent next year, I’d like to see him go under center some.  Go to a single back or I formation.  I don’t think they’ll have the game breaking receivers but a good play action passing game being run dependent will give them their best shot,  

Agree.  He will not leave although he may regret it in a couple of years.  They have most of their talent coming back next year but they have to overcome some systemic issues.  They have to diversify their offense and stop being so tendency driven and they have to get back to being a physical, down hill blocking line like they were several years ago during the Adkins years.  They have the kids and size but they rarely dominate the LOS,   
 Also, please calls plays for your talent.  You have a good slot and a potential All-Region TE if you will use him.  
 

Hate to hear that,  look like they have union a tough time for a half anyway.  Hope they recover and make a good showing. Good luck to both. 

taz by 10-14. ridgeview has progressively gotten worse since union game, note injuries have destroyed their game going thru the year as well. dont know how don’t know why. if QB is out Id say lace up the basketball shoes for the pack but backup was impressive at moments. hope game is close, also kind of a trend that taz falls apart against good teams but ridgeview hasn’t been a good team since about uhhh mid season. game liable to go both ways but im going with taz. 

They had a two year run with basically zero key injuries and it looks like it caught up with them this year.  They will have to out-scheme the Bulldogs to win.   We will see if they can do that.  I'm not big on Tazewell defensively and I'm not big on RV's offensive scheme.  Maybe this will be the game they decide to try to get all the playmakers involved.  After watching this team last couple of seasons, I can't figure out the reasoning behind their usage rates for certain kids.  It seems like once a defense adjusts to stop a play, they stop using that kid as much.  They don't counter.  Hell, maybe the staff just like certain kids better and play favorites.  That would explain some of the decision making last two seasons. 

Agreed. Just to many playmakers out or playing at 50% for RV. Never seen a team so decimated by injuries and I have been around sports for long time. Good thing they are all sophomores and juniors so they  can mostly get another run next year. 

A healthy RV squad I'd ride with in this one,but Tazewell wins a 21-20 one with starters for RV out.

RV can game plan a win here but I’ve yet to see them out scheme an equal team.  RV wins IF: Honaker is healthy, Q’Quin is healthy and they scheme short to intermediate routes for their slot #10 and they decide that this is the week to use Scanlon as a Gronklike TE.  

At least sickness didn’t happen in playoffs still time to recover.  Happened at Appalachia in early 90s probably wasn’t 50 kids in school that week and Parry McCluer destroyed us 

Not making excuses for RV’s performance at all. #17 is playing on a bad ankle (occurred in the Union game). Flu/COVID has taken a huge toll since the Union game with multiple kids being out almost the entire week of practice. Play calling has been suspect under this coaching staff and injuries have taken a lot of production off the field since the first game of the season. Bye week couldn’t have came at a better time for RV. Also physically Union took a lot out of them. Abingdon is very physical and huge. I don’t know what to make of them though. Are they the team that lost to Battle or are they a 3A school that over powered a good RV team? I think Union wins but it will be an old fashioned slobber knocker. Probably will remind some of the old LPD glory days of 3 yards and a cloud of dust. I’ll say Union 34 Abingdon 28. 

Ryan is very faithful, loyal, and is determined. Almost all the kids playing on the field for RV are juniors and sophomores. He’s very proud to be winning with the team he’s known for a very long time, and someone mentioned academics earlier in the chat, Ryan is a student first, reads constantly, loves to learn and he high education aspirations. There is so much more to Ryan O’Quinn than the elite QB he is. He believes in his friends and teammates and he knows they believe in him.

Union can dream can’t they? Somebody should snatch up that Lebanon QB, I was very impressed by him against Graham. Honaker doesn’t need him but Richlands is just up 460 and they could definitely use him. If Richlands had him last year with the Brown kid, they’d had a much better season.

This game is super interesting to me. If RV wins going away, I feel much better about Union going to Abingdon. If this is a dog fight or Falcons wins, I’m gonna be real worried when Union goes to the Nest. 

Well, the offensive creativity is now at Castlewood and Honaker.  You are seeing how much three college level WRs/ playmakers covered up some pretty uninspired play calling last year.
Best thing they can do to help the QB is to turn Scanlon into Gronk via play action fakes.  Develop a more creative screen game and, I’ve been screaming this for four years now…..throw the damn comeback!!
 

Just watched Bears and Ridge this morning. Damn good football played out there. Wolfpack surprised me. A great argument of course for Chandler being best overall player on field, but you ain't wrong if argue for Ridgeview's damn monster on the field that dressed in a uniform. That Honaker kid is a freakin stud 

I have the same exact read. Union thought it would be easy after going up 6-0 so quick but RV came to play and gave them a helluva fight. Clown show officiating aside, RV has to feel good even in a loss if Honaker isn’t badly injured. They ran the ball well on Union, stopped the run and played extremely well until the Union talent kinda took over after the half. Only RV turnover was the INT which in my mind was wholly on the receiver. No chance O’Quinn makes that massive of a misread. Had to be a wrong route. 

One thing I've noticed is that when it is done by an opponent's fanbase they are whiny and ridiculous.  When it is down by their own fanbase, they are passionate and devoted.  Lol.  I would surmise there is a thin line between the two.  

Ridgeview played a great game. They were ready. I felt that the Bears thought they had this in the bag after stuffing RV on their 1st possession and then scoring immediately when they got the ball after the punt.
The 'Pack didn't let that get them down at all and smacked Union in the mouth several times. Very physical game by both teams.
RV D came prepared to stop Chandler and they did for the most part. Lowery had a good game and Anderson took over for Chandler.
I think the turning point in the game was Union finally pressuring O'Quinn in the 2nd half. They sat back too much in the 1st.
Would be an interesting game if Graham and Ridgeview meet in the playoffs this year.
