Couldn’t agree more. Honaker did what they had to do. Jump on Galax early. But that physicality wears on you over time if you’re not accustomed to it and prepared for it. No offense to anyone intended here but you can’t get accustomed to it and prepared for it playing Honaker’s schedule. 

So based on that we can surmise that Ridgeview fans whined about the score, Union fan got mad at Ridgeview fans and threw down....
Although the actions of Union fan can't be excused here, but still.....
*sigh*  Did Clintwood folks always cry this much?  Cause I can guarantee you I never saw Haysi or Ervinton fans act like this, what say you @redtiger?
As I've mentioned recently during basketball season, the few times I've went to Ridgeview sporting events over the last couple of years, the fans bellyache over everything:  referee calls, referee non-calls, Abingdon being in the M7, Central and Union just existing period.  You name it, they're going to gripe about it.

Neither is assault and battery. Two wrongs never make a right!!!

Everyone involved in the fight should face a lifetime ban from attending VHSL activities and be forced to perform many, many hours of community service while handcuffed to each other. 

Lebanon and Honaker's boys soccer teams both advanced via forfeit to the #VHSL Region 1D Finals. They will play Friday at Honaker for the title.

On the boys side, Graham and Lebanon are probably the two best teams with Honaker a tic behind. Lebanon split with Graham and swept Honaker although both games were very close.  Not sure anyone has anything for Galax or Radford, but I would be surprised if anyone other than these three teams won their respective Region Titles. 

Today has been 13 years since my "grandson of the heart" left his earthly journey and embarked on his heavenly one.  He was a bright star while here with his athletic abilities, a warrior beyond measure with his cancer battle.  Found this story and thought for those who knew him and those who loved him would enjoy.

Richlands boys are pretty down this year from what I've heard. The girls will be a threat, though.

Sadly we are done with Football for good 😭, one more Spring Soccer season left for our Senior. I’m hoping this board will get a little more traffic this year !!

    My heads about to explode 🤯 with financial aid applications and trying to figure out recruitment videos and ways to help him navigate this mess. Seems we are way behind the normal timeline for doing all this stuff 😂.
  Hopefully this will help take the focus off the financials and possibility of him moving away from home  😅

Sounds very good all around.  One of my oldest son's LHS teammates played for Emory & Henry a few years ago.  My observation is that they are very forthright in their approach to recruiting.  And if they've said they'll be watching him then that's definitely a solid option for him.
If he wants to broaden his horizons a bit or simply test the waters, then I'd highly recommend attending an ID camp.  The likelihood of landing an offer from the host school may be a long shot, but he will at least get a chance to perform in front of their coaches as well as those from several other "lower level" schools who will be there.  My 16 year old accepted an invitation to attend an ID camp at a Division I school last month.  As a result he received 3 offers from Division II schools and one from a Division III coach who were there.  The host school is actually still communicating with him but ultimately we don't really expect anything to come of that.
The recruiting companies and sites are in business to make money (no surprise there).  But there are sites where he can create a free profile that will garner immediate interest from schools who are looking for players with his particular metrics.  Our high school coach prefers fieldlevel.com.  Both of my sons also got a free profile from ncsa.com in conjunction with their participation in some travel tournaments.  Both generated several hits and immediate invitations from several D-III type schools across the country.  But the Division I schools generally operate on direct scouting of their own or recommendations/tips from their ID camp partners.  
All of this is offered based on my personal observation so far with my two older sons.  My oldest decided pretty early in the process that he cared more about where he wanted to go college for reasons other than soccer, so he never seriously considered any of the offers he received.  My 16 year old is at least looking into it -- but I wouldn't be surprised if things turn out the same way with him.

It looks like SWCC is on his radar and evidently he can get 2 years tuition free there for an associates. I think he’s actually started talking to the school counselor about his options and learning some stuff 😃. 
  He was invited to a camp at E&H last year and had had several invites to FCA tournaments the last few years. He has a friend that’s on the team there, I think that may be some of his reasoning for thinking E&H. Trying to get any info out of him is like pulling teeth at times 😂 but he did say the E&H coaches gave him a some stuff to work on and mentioned they’d be watching him this year.
   His brother and Sister are both King graduates and that’s where that comes in. 
  He mentioned today that he’d enjoy going to one of those camps from the link you posted above at James Madison. I told him if he’s serious we can make it happen and to let me know. So he has some things to think about now.
   We were contacted before Christmas by some sort of recruitment company. Sat through about an hour and a half zoom meeting about how they were willing to help him get a recruitment video straightened out and a contact list. Turns out they were very expensive 😂 
  I think he’s starting to realize that we need to get moving on some of these plans and options if he’s wanting to play soccer at the college level. 
  We also may have military options from my service that he can look into.

 Hopefully they have another stellar year like they did last year. We lost our keeper so that’s going to be a weak point for us but AFAIK most of the seniors came back this year and thankfully our coach decided to give it one more year for his “guys”. His son graduated last year. 

I'm not a soccer parent but am a fan. There are a few parents floating around the board as well as a few other fans like myself. 
I also have a senior. Trying to navigate the sheer volume of forms required for the college application process is daunting. We've found that many of the schools our daughter has applied to have their own forms to be completed above and beyond the standard items found with Common App and FAFSA. College applications have been out since Thanksgiving. FAFSA was completed prior to that. It has been a steady stream of one form or another ever since. I got an email last night asking for additional financial statements for one school in particular. I am in my office early this morning trying to find those to submit. I can only hope, those requests means my daughter is being seriously considered for enrollment.

You have lost your mind if you think he is better than the Horne kid. Not taking anything away from him but Horne is on a different level.  100% the best rb in the region.  He would start on any team.

Think I saw on Facebook Lebanon @ Twin Springs is Saturday. 

My initial prediction of 55 to 7 was almost spot on, the final was 54 to 6 LHS. It was also crazy that Governor Glenn Youngkin was there and Flipped the coin.
 
Finish strong  Pioneers 2 games to go, win them both and finish 7-3 and get a home playoff game. 

That's my feeling as well. They've still got 2 big games coming up after  Castlewood in Holston and Rural Retreat, win both they go 7-3 and may host a playoff game. One game at a time though from here on out. 
I also think Lebanon played one of their worst games against PH during the 2nd game of the season and kept it within 2 tds most if that game. I think they'd play them tougher if they meet again. I think playing Virginia High and Gate City will only help them down the stretch. They played Gate City tough the entire game with a few players out or not full strength. With everyone healthy they might have one that one. Should be an exciting finish to the season. 

Lebanon wins. If there is a 3rd team in 1D that could step into/challenge that Region Title spot with Grundy/PH, I think it's Lebanon because of that offense and ability to score. I write that because yea, Grundy and PH are more physical than Lebanon on the LOS, but you could possibly see a game where Lebanon gets a score, then an early turnover or 2, and very quickly, they are up 14 or 17 points, then all of a sudden, the ball control power stuff is much more neutralized. I'm not saying Lebanon wins the region, but if there's a 3rd team to challenge, it's them. Lebanon is going to beat Castlewood by a lot.

I have to admit I was skeptical at the beginning of the season about the coaching changes but I’ll own that and realize that they have made some positive changes in their play calling. Super excited to see our own senior and our other “part-time” sons having a great year on the field.  
   I think this one is going to be all Lebanon also. These county rivalry games are always some of our favorites, almost as fun as the coal bowl every year. We will be rocking the stands Friday night for sure.
   We’ve got Big JJ back in the game, in a good state of mind, with his heart in the right place (after a well-deserved 3 game suspension).
    Olson and Hertig are healthy and in good spirits, lethal combination for sure.  
   Can’t say enough about Colton Barton, I’ve been watching him play as long as I have watched my own and he’s always been a game changer.  Reece has been really consistent and connecting well with our receivers. Tatum and Street have just been beasts on the field lately. I could go on and on lol  love these boys and this team  
  We were able to play our 2nd string and younger guys last week, keeping our starters healthy and rested and they are even looking pretty good. I may have to keep my season tickets after graduation 😂
  Practices have been going well and looking forward to seeing some of the surprises they have been working on all week.
