Kudos to the Va High kids for not backing down.  Listening to these announcers try to validate what JM is doing is sickening.  They, and the VHSL, should be ashamed of themselves for doing what they're doing.  That wasn't a true 2A championship game that was just played.

Well on the bright side.... at least it's not in Wheeling and a much closer drive for Bluefield and Princeton and James Monroe.

Same thing I've said about football having too many teams making playoffs...it's a joke.
But the "give everyone a trophy" crowd goes crazy everytime it's said....so you have 2-8 or worse teams making playoffs

More evidence the state set-up with 6 classifications is watered down as hell. Region 1C is hot garbage outside of Auburn and GW.  Parry McCluer and Narrows are decent and deserving of a playoff berth but Bath, Galax, Grayson and Eastern Montgomery are awful basketball teams and wholly undeserving of postseason play. 

As you well know by now, we're on the same page here.  But what do ya do? 
Although, I will concede, the perk of host district tournament in your barn when you win the regular season is nice.
Still yet, hopefully we get out of it when the contract runs out since it's starting to become appearent neither side is particularly happy with the arrangement.

No.  Narrows was wanting to play at East Mont.  East Mont voted with Narrows for them to host.  The rest of the district, whether it be principals or AD's, voted that down and voted for PM's proposal.  Travel time would've been the same for both and East Mont already had a game scheduled there already anyway.  Instead PM gets to travel 20 mins down the road to a gym they've played in twice already this year. So, it screws Narrows on travel, and screws a fellow member school out of potential revenue.  Dirtbag move by the other schools IMO but I know, if I was a Narrows coach going foward in any sport, I'd remember it.

Agreed with all points in this conversation.  At the end of the day, 1C is GW and Auburn on one step, Narrows and PM on the next one.  The margin for error for a team like Narrows against that top step is virtually nil and they've got to bring their best. Anything less and it can get away from them quickly.   We've seen it twice this year.  Onward to a home game with PM on Friday. Looking forward to see how they respond.  Especially given the opponent and where it's being played.

That game is part of the Adam Ward Classic at Salem HS. It's not getting moved.  The only game on the schedule that's still up in the air as of right now that I know of is Roanoke Catholic.  There hasn't been a make up date announced for it yet.  The JCA game from last week got moved to this coming Tuesday after originally being announced as cancelled. The Parry McCluer home game got moved to 2/8.

That confused me as well. Then a friend told me the bracket was on the Grayson County Athletics and Activities facebook page so I found it there. No idea why they schedule the games out of order like that.

Listening to the Dorman broadcast was entertaining. George WY-th. Smoky Mountains. Also them saying “this isn’t the typical team Dorman would lose to.  We are bigger and more athletic on each position on the floor. I can’t believe it. We would normally blow a team out like this one.” 

Well I was wrong. Waaaaaaaay wrong. 
Congratulations G-Dub. Easily one of the biggest upsets in the history of the Arby's. Unbelievable. I'd say anyone playing the Arby's bracket pool has a busted bracket now. 

Floyd is similar in many ways to Fort Chiswell. They always seem to have an abundance of size and athleticism. Coach Beale was/is an all-time human being but I'm not sure how great a football coach he had been in recent years. Floyd certainly has a football coach now. If the Carroll News is to be believed, I'm not sure how Cromer could have been their second choice, but here we are.
One thing is for sure, Floyd set the rest of the Three Rivers on notice. The Buffalos comin.......

Yes, they did.  Lost 30-6 in the semi's. Appy scored once per quarter.  Their passing was what killed Narrows that day.  Travis Turner was a freshman and threw for over 200 and 3 of their 4 scores were from pass plays.  Had drives stall inside their red zone twice late to keep Narrows from getting back in it.  Gave 'em a game.  At least a better game than they got the next week.  Including the write up from the Roanoke TImes.

Riverheads fans on the other board whining about having to play schools bigger than them. My how the tables have turned. One guy even tried to convince everyone Radford had 900 students because he “did a Google search.”
Augusta County is going to be redrawing boundary lines for sure now.
