Those are the plans (made public) thus far.  Of course, construction schedules and labor shortages being what they are, it leaves some uncertainty.  There are a few other things in the works that I’m not at liberty to discuss beyond telling folks to “stay tuned.”

Be involved. From the players/cheerleaders, parents, coaches, and officers. Everyone has to be involved and on the same page for it to grow. Ego and the HS glory days are left at the door.  If you can show them that the future is bright then they will help see it through.

Bingo! I counted 60-70 on the 3 GC little league teams combined for this year and noticed several others were asking how to sign up. A couple of years ago we had 26 players on varsity and thankfully the interest and desire has seemed to have returned.

Speaking from professional experience, if they are indeed getting a turf field installed beginning in the spring, it would certainly be in the design phase right now. Any construction project, post Covid, will need a minimum of 6-months to get through the necessary regulatory permitting process. Couple that with the time it takes to design, it's very nearly an 18-month process these days to go from deciding to install turf, to hiring a licensed professional to design, get the design permitted for construction and then get to actual construction.

That’s great, these kids need a little something to show off. I’m for it, they deserve it.

You’re correct on Peterstown.  And you’re correct on the effort required to get the youth leagues in order so that the middle/high school teams have good, experienced players to coach onward.  I think the world of Danny, and his work (and the work of others) is certainly is showing dividends in the County seat.

The youth football system was in full-fledged collapse in Mance’s final years here.  We’re seeing the effects of that now.  While not perfect, you can look at youth leagues and extrapolate pretty well what these teams will look like in 7-10 years.  Even now, some places have positioned themselves well, while others should have alarm bells sounding.

It would be a major shock if Dixon ever coaches high school football again.

I don't think this will ever be a viable option. I don't foresee him ever coming out of retirement.

I just hope their program can survive that trip to Jenkins Ky.  Lots of power points for that game.

It certainly helps in the case of Hankins that his dad was high school teammates of Billy Wagner at Tazewell.

This is a no-brainer decision: Hankins should absolutely go to Miller School.  Baseball's its own animal when it comes to seeking opportunity for elite players.  I know that there's been a hullabaloo over his commitment to Tennessee...but let's not kid ourselves.  Hankins is well within the Top 10 rounds of the 2025 MLB Draft, and virtually no player that falls in that range attends college.  The slot contract values are much too high to justify it.  Baseball America (the preeminent baseball publication in America) listed its Top 50 high school draft prospects for 2025, and Hankins came in at #39.  The difference in Hankins staying at Battle and improving his draft stock at Miller School is literally hundreds of thousands of dollars.  Even if he doesn't raise his stock, he'll still have a choice to make between taking a slot value of $150K or going to Tennessee for 3 years.  The floor is exactly the same, and the ceiling is WAY higher.

A good friend of mine coaches baseball at one of the schools in Albemarle County/Charlottesville.  He's had multiple players essentially "poached" from his program by Miller School over the years.  That's neither here nor there, but Miller School does its fair share of 'cruitin'.

Personal choices are unique to every individual. I understand wanting this kid to stay local but is that realistically the best thing for him?
Miller School plays a 40 game schedule all over the eastern seaboard. They will play a dozen (or more) games every year against kids that will be drafted in the opening rounds of the MLB draft. And he will still have time to continue playing travel ball. Miller School isn't limited to the practice requirements of VHSL, which hurt athletes that play one sport year-round. JSB can't compete with that.

Shame on the Bearcats for scheduling this game.

Yes, The Railway Depot.  It's definitely worth your while to try.  I've been there a few times and always left satisfied.

I'll double up on that and say that they'll win it.  Having the very best player in Class 2 doesn't hurt.  Plus, the team Riverheads faces won't be from Region D.

I have to disagree with you here friend.  I would caveat that the approach and execution of SWVA teams in 7v7 may be pointless, but that it mostly due to staff approach.  If executed properly you are providing valuable reps for over 70% of your football team.  It is invaluable for your back four (DBs)...if used properly.  You can't simulate game speed and route running in practice that you get from the other team's WR1 and WR2.  Additionally, every LB and DB in SWVA needs more experience in pass coverage.  That is the defensive perspective which hardly anyone considers.
Now, the offensive side.  You absolutely have to develop that timing.  Football, like every other sport, is about repetitions.  If my kids are getting more reps than yours...they will be more prepared.  Look no further than Greg Mance for how you should approach 7v7's.  The guy repped his passing game hard during the spring and summer so that when fall camp started he was able to focus on the running game.  Mance was pretty good at slinging the ball around.  I've not seen it in any of the 7v7s that I've attended over the past couple of years but...the OC absolutely should be utilizing this time to let the QB read coverages and defenses.  Sadly....the plays are called and the QB throws his #1 route.
Just go to a football hotbed state like FL, TX or GA and watch their 7v7's and ask them if it is pointless.  They'll likely laugh out loud.  : )
