So now, 8 teams or however many were left on the schedule are left scrambling and all of those fans, kids, coaches just got screwed when the CORRECT thing to do was to tap out in early August when they KNEW the circumstances would not allow a full season. When teams make these decisions to "give it the ole college try," it's noble and we give them credit and I respect that, but these teams need to consider not just THEMSELVES, but the remaining opponents on their schedules when they make these decisions in early August.
The best argument for 8 man football is not just Team A having limited numbers/roster. The argument that is equally valid is the teams left on Team A's schedule that are left scrambling after Team A cancels the season 2 or 3 or 4 weeks in.
For the record, it is best to take assumptions out of the equation. With all due respect, we had every reason to think that we would be able to complete the current season. With a roster of 18 players, we have played with this many in the past, we expected to take our share of knocks this season but we also expected to finish the season. This wasn't the "good old college try," I assure you of that. Nonetheless, circumstances, which I cannot discuss, put the team in a very awkward predicament that the administration could not, in good conscience, allow the team to continue. Player safety became our number one priority and our hand was forced. Barring unforeseen circumstances, we would have never been in this situation and would not have been forced to make this decision and in all likelihood have finished the season.
No dog in the fight, but the Blaze didn't do the study. The Bluefield Daily or Bristol Herald could have "reported" it. That has zero to do with who did the study or what journal is was published in and who did the peer reviewing. The study was performed in Brazil and published in Cureus Medical Journal. This study is pretty powerful; however, it still doesn't do enough to describe data collection methods which are suspect in parts of Brazil. Ivermectin appears to have great benefit in reducing mortality rate in severe Covid cases. Ivermectin appears to have zero benefit in reducing mortality rate in mild to moderate Covid cases. The answer that everyone was debating fell....as usual, somewhere in the middle. Here is the original Ivermectin Cureus Link
Below is a link to a Summary of the Duke Study that found no benefit in early-mild to mod Covid. All studies have some kind of flaw. The knock on this one could be a suspect sample size, but overall, a powerful study.
