I honestly must say Lloyd combs, he suffered a stroke a short while back and has been in/out of nursing home. But yet in his wheelchair he has been hand carried into press boxes to announce games for 100.7 while also contributing to the herald carrier, bluefield daily, and Virginia mountaineer.

I think most people understand that every team that Hurley plays is bigger than they are. I don't have a complaint about them playing the schedule they do and going undefeated, they've earned that. They haven't, however, earned the right for everyone to agree that they're going to be playing in mid December.... & when a few Hurley fans want to arrogantly force their "facts" down everyone's throats it just turns most people off.
 
Western Michigan is undefeated but they're not getting any top 10 votes in the college football playoff because people look at their body of work. They still have a lot to be proud of and they make a great story but people can't take them serious yet. The same goes for Hurley but at least they get a chance to be in the playoffs and prove theirselves right or everyone wrong.

Tazewell doesn't...especially the parents, they just want little Johnny to be the star when he has trouble carrying the water bottles...

What sound logic. "Our schedule is a 15-pound bag of manure, but their schedule is a 20-pound bag of manure, so therefore our schedule isn't manure at all and I need a safe space and a trigger warning whenever you say something bad about dear old Hurley."

The best thing about this (or worst thing) is that the Northside coaches were right next to our box and screaming and celebrating all night long so loud that it went out over our air. Most unprofessional staff we've had up in the box, where you're not supposed to root (and I know coaches will scream on bad plays or throw stuff or clap and say "all right" when something good happens, but these guys went fan boy to a level I've never heard).
 
From the time Northside got outside on this play, and keep in mind the guy was still about 10-yards from scoring, one of the coaches starting screaming "STRIKE UP THE BAND BABY! THAT'S IT! STRIKE UP THE BAND!" incessantly until the PAT was kicked. This kind of thing happened on several occasions, and we apologize that this kind of stuff went out over our air all night long. Nothing but respect for the way Northside played and coached. Their gameplan was excellent and Abingdon didn't respond. But sometime sooner than later (assuming it's not been addressed already) they're going to be told they can't act that way in a press box. It's beyond unprofessional.

Seeing as the LPD and BDD Championships have been posted, I'm curious to see how far back we can go with the SWD records.

Appomattox, with out a doubt, should be considered the favorite. They won it all last year, have won every game this year, and have the best wins on their resumé.
 
The 2007 New England Patriots were considered 13 point favorites to win the Super Bowl after a 16-0 regular season. But that's what makes sports great. Anything can happen. The giants beat the patriots and Nevada sports books lost 250+ million dollars. Somebody out there has to be confident in the underdogs.

i think this post may be premature.  Theres a lot of football to be played before Dec.  Strange things happen.  Someone gets upset or goes into a game looking ahead and doesn't take care of business can throw the dynamic off.
 
I will go with the lets see who all is still standing in a couple of weeks before talking about who wins state

Come on now....at least half of those recruits are in county.. Can still probably count on the Mercer and McDowell recruits too.

ppl. really shouldn't mess with me on ratings night - caffeine nicotine & leftover Twizzlers tend to bring out the typist in me - don't get to type much when working with numbers.

The kids playing today were in 1st-4th grade when that game happened, so I'm not sure of the bearing it has on today's matchup.
 
I hate the transitive property as much as anyone, but Dan River played Appomattox to a virtual draw, and Appomattox ran Altavista off the field. Absent some contagion or mass injury that we don't know about, Dan River should be very heavily favored.

No Richlands basketball team has ever made it past the first game of regionals.

Neither team has achieved anything in the post season yet. These two teams nay not even match up again in the playoffs. One game at a time folks.
