Graham was out coached by Richlands.  Richlands also wore Graham down at the line of scrimmage.  They were bigger and they kept the ball out of Graham's hands and kept Graham's defense on the field, which wore on Graham's smaller defensive line.   Graham was without a key linemen on both sides of the ball in that game, not sure if it would've affected the outcome, but he was missed.  As far as overall team speed, Graham will have more "team" speed than anybody they play, including Bluefield.  Bluefield has a couple of speedsters.  Graham has 5 or 6 kids that run a 4.5 or better.  Cooke ran a 4.4 at a camp that put him on the radar of some big schools.  Meade, Ballard, Cooke, Cousin, Cooper, Allen, Chinault can all get down the field in a hurry.  They have some young guys in key positions and guys that are playing new positions.  They should be hard for anybody to deal with at the end of the season.  My immediate concern after the Richlands game has shifted to the line play against teams with bigger, more physical lines.  They are young on the line and are a little undersized, but they play with a ton of heart.  It will be interesting to see how they progress going forward.  ONe thing in Graham's favor is the last few games should be easy "w" s for Graham and an opportunity to rest and heal up some guys and possibly try some new thing with their line rotations, etc....to get them ready for a playoff run.  
 
Giles, Abingdon and Galax will be a tough stretch to get through to get to that point.... If Graham wins 2 of 3 in that stretch, it will be an accomplishment.  Galax may be the toughest task of all 3 after the whipping they put on George Wythe.....that was impressive.
 
As for Giles, Graham had better come to play and come to make a statement, that this team is not the team that folks have seen for the last 15 years or so, but they are more like the Graham teams of old that will come after you....  I'm looking for the boys to show up to play on friday.
 
Cousin needs to get the ball more.....I repeat...Cousin needs the ball more.... Meade had success against Bluefield and Tazewell when he kept the ball on the qb option.  Richlands was more physical up front, the way Giles will probably be....and he didn't have nearly as much success. Also, Richlands clogged up the middle and Graham should've tried to get to the edge more with their speed.  I think it will be similar against Giles.   Can't wait to see what develops.

I would pick Richlands over the Cavaliers at this point.

Chilhowie has milked the clock with a 12 play drive, first and goal on the 4..... late in 4th.  Still 60-48.  When will folks around here start kicking off? instead of these pooch kicks.  Chilhowie started at midfield all night, returned one of those pooches for a td.....  It bugs me.  Graham last week, Tazewell this week...  If I see one more pooch kick, I'm running out there and kicking the darn thing myself.

VHSL was never good with numbers or anything west of Roanoke.

My senior year at Tazewell the most points we allowed in the regular season was 20 & 21. Defense used to be fun.

I didn't realize that Tazewell changed its name to Thomas Walker, and Chilhowie changed its name to Rye Cove.
 
This one won't be close. Rye Cove is very possibly the worst team in Virginia, and Thomas Walker has shown a sign or two of life.

So.... Who's on first?

Heather and Casey are great people.  I've talked with both in person on several occasions.  Heather is very knowledgeable about the Tennessee side but isn't as informed about the Virginia side.  When Sacco was on the Thursday night picks, he was the star of the show hands down and really was informative on the Virginia side of things.  Also, Jordan Conigliaro who is now in Pittsburgh also had begun to develop an understanding and huge knowledge of the Virginia side before he left.

Kids these days don't know anything good. 

I said that to a coworker at my internship with the Salem Sox and he answered with "Moncada." I repeatedly did this to him for weeks until he figured out that he wasn't getting the point and he went and looked it up haha.

Questionable move. Practice wise, I don't think will be an issue but planning and preparing is. Coaching one sport is a full time job with overtime... imagine adding 100% more work to an already busy day. One program will suffer I will like.

I really liked when the BHC released a single edition football preview instead of spreading it out over two weeks of papers.  Oh well, guess subscriptions declining and papers bought at newsstand declining/higher website traffic increasing will cause you to do that.

This is exactly correct. Nevermind that the real reason most of the bottom end of Tazewell County turned into WCYB was that a Tazewell County product was on its newscasts, not due to actual coverage.
 
Congrats, WVVA. You not only have no one from Richlands watching your broadcasts, you've turned them away from NBC entirely. Bravo.

You're out of line big guy, you need to take a step back... You're the one that came into this thread looking for trouble.

Continuing dialogue is key to bridging the gap between this part of Virginia and the rest of the state.  That conversation goes infinitely deeper than high school football, however.
