For reference, we are still referring to a kid who has to raise his hand to use the restroom... He is a high school student. Maybe you weren't every a high school kid, who knows, but most high school kids tend to make dumb mistakes. A lot goes into the "dumb mistakes" but upbringing and social circles play a large part into this. I do not know the kid personally, matter of fact would have a tough time picking him out of a crowd unless he was wearing a richlands #11 jersey, but you are burning this kid at the stake for a bonehead decision. He was caught up in the heat of the moment and got caught. I am sure he is aware how much he cost his team but Richlands is not only reliant on #11. They are loaded offensively. #11 is nice to be able to throw jumpballs to but they will miss him most at safety. 
 
Maybe cool your jets on saying this kid should stay at home, etc., because frankly, as stated in a previous post/thread, Richlands referred to their teammates as brothers. Last time I checked, some family members make dumb decision and you still love them dont you? 
 
My take on it... let the kid come to the game and stand on the side lines in dress clothes. Give him some type of "meaningful" job on the sideline to keep him engaged and feel like he is taking part in the game. What you do not want is him on the sideline pounding or bringing anyone down. I say we leave the kid alone now.  He's paying a high price for what he did/didn't do so that's it.  No need to keep talking about it.  he is a high school kid,  granted not for much longer ,  but for now he is.  Richlands will play with what they have and no excuses for whatever outcome happens.

You make a good point. But if you look at the fan video on the blue tornado facebook page, Booker is wide open in the middle of the field and also wouldve been a TD.

I wouldn't consider it ill advised with only 8 seconds left on the clock.

Don't know if you've read any of the articles written this week about the team...but the Richlands players refer to each other as 'brothers'.
This is not about the fans, the bleacher coaches or the naysayers. I would say with most certainty, ALL, the other Blues players (brothers) would want their HC to appeal the ejection. (Whether, it's overturned is another story).
Gee, when a kid in a family does something stupid or dumb there are usually consequences, however, I don't think a parent or guardian would say pack your bags, you're not a part of this family anymore and you're on your own.  First of all, other members of the family would be devastated one of their brothers was being abandoned.
Everything is NOT about sports in life...hopefully, this will be a teaching moment and maturing experience for the young man.  To 'kick someone to the curb' because they displayed a lack of maturity on a football field ( if the ejection is upheld, so be it) is just not acceptable.
BTW, I'm sure Coach Mance appreciates the props and two cents for the call... he seemingly hasn't done much too garner your approval in previous posts.  

That wasn't on purpose. The last thing Richlands does in warmups is the punter will put the ball to the return man, and the team will run down to him and huddle around wherever he catches the ball at. That was a product of a shanked punt that just happened to go to the right side instead of the left. Yesterday, he hit a good punt and it was on the Richlands hash. That's not an intentional thing, it just happens where the freshman punter puts the ball. 

One last thought, I don't know how many games on all different levels I've seen over the years where one team "didn't have a chance" and won the game...it happens. Just this past year, Cubs down 3-1 and took the World Series, Cavs down 3-1 and took the NBA Championship...Ronda Rousey is all but retired now after being "unbeatable"....Phoebus just went down in flames...Mike Tyson got knocked out by Buster Douglas once upon a time....The heavily favored(-14)  Rams "Greatest Show On Turff" lost Super Bowl 36 to the Patriots...all I'm saying is, it happens.

When trailing by 50, I'm sure you are right.

... of course we realize the coach selection process is rigged, with career insiders at the school board yielding all the power. But OSB, in a moment of sheer brilliance, came up with the idea that is guaranteed to win us that appointment ...

Yes, it's true. ODB and I ... oops, I mean OSB and I ... have joined forces. While meeting for our scheduled duel to the death, 7 pm at the Tazewell football field on November 20th ...he was late btw ...something really strange and wonderful occurred. We put aside our differences in the spirit of community service. Looking back now, it seems as though fate had plans for us all along. As we stood there, back to back, preparing to count off 20 paces; him, making his peace with God, and me, planning my next week's appointments ...something occurred to us as we glanced around the empty bleachers. Together we could make a difference ... and fill those bleachers with fannies . All we need is an appointment to the vacant Tazewell coaching job.

Good Luck to Blacksburg, GW, Galax, and Richlands. Represent SWVA well! Win or lose, be proud of the season you've had. We're rooting for all of you in Union Land.
