  1. Listen guys, no need to get offensive. Coach Tate has higher aspirations and chasing them. As I posted earlier, the explanation is not mine or anyone else’s to elaborate on at this moment. <O:p</O:p Most rational thinking individuals will readily agree that here had been a history of “hands on” parents here. It is my belief that most of those parents have moved on with their children graduating. Bottom line is that a coach has to found that will be given the reigns to the football team, has a structured program and a vision that the team school and community can buy into. <O:p</O:p
  2. Guys before you begin the bashing of Tazewell fans you should know that Coach Tates success or lack of on the football field was not the reason behind this. I, like many others, liked and respected what he was doing for the program. I will not take the liberty of explaining the information that was passed on to me for it is not my place to do so. Lets just hope that they find a coach willing to stand his ground and lay the ground work for a successful program.

  4. Had the oppurtunity to watch Covington a couple times. I'm there once a month for military manuvers. They had some special athletes this year but are poorly coached and have very few players. Can't take anything away from what they were able to accomplish but wouldn't take anything from this game. All of the teams from the west would have beaten Covington with the running game. Won't sell Sussex short but believe that Clintwood can control the pace of the game. How clintwood handles they trip will be the major factor here.
  5. 1togo2: would have responded to your post earlier but have been off grid all weekend. I am a realist and do not expect the g-men to be world beaters or even compete in the MED this year. But I do know that they have improved. Much like my beloved Bulldogs thet are still looking for an identity. They have found some success on offense in certain areas and can build on that. They are still looking for something on defense. Your negativity and comments demonstrate a degree of ignorance. I would be happy to discuss with you any aspect of the game if you need enlightenment. Otherwise I would suggest that you simply observe the games and be thankful for the effort that the kids have put forth this year.
  6. I'd like to see Graham pick off one of these games but it will be tough. Best bet would be to keep the "I' in a tight formation and attempt to control the clock. If they cant limit the touches of these opposing offenses it may get ugly. The G-Men have found some things that work offensivly but the defense still has some holes. I have to agree with some others on this board in that you have to find a way to get Spencer the ball in open space. Kids got some quick feet. Add that to what they've been doing successfully and you would see a surge in "O" production. Wish them the best.
  7. Salem has no reason to schedule Richlands. Most teams to the East of us have no reason play teams in our area. Richlands (if the success continues and no reason to believe it will not) will struggle to schedule quality games. Its simply difficult for most teams to provide a balanced level of competition every year. With the exception of the district schedule(which will continue to be weak for a few more years) they do a fair job of finding teams that provide different and unique challenges. I would also like to see them reach out to some of the TN teams. The miles may be long but easily traveled and could produce some great matchups. I do think that you would face the same challenges there as well.

Before you go hacking on the assistants that Coach Tate fielded you need to be informed. He attempted to get "qualified" coaches and was turned down by nearly all. Those guys that are out there volunteered to help the kids. If you have issue with that drag your ass out there.

  12. They have been doing this to the troops for a while now. Most of the major airlines charge for what they consider "excess baggage". I had 2 duffel's(and needed them to transport the issued gear). Had to pay for 1 to get it in the plane.
  13. Wouldn't bet that. Wisconsin may put a wrinkle in that plan. As a Penn State and Big 10/11/etc fan I am excited about the Huskers joining. Should make for some classic games and instant rivalries.
  14. If using Wolfpack then they should have referenced the Eastern Red Wolf (indigenous species to the Eastern United States and our region) in the color scheme or mascot selection.
  15. My source has informed me that it is a closed deal. We'll have to wait and see but it makes sense. No teachig positions available and other factors dictated the choice.
  16. Not really harder on the engine in most cases. However you may see a drastic decrease in fuel mileage. Read somewhere that it may be around a 20-30% decrease. Most all of the "flex fuel cars" manufactured recently should have markings or a "yellow" cap. There is a sight to check your vin # but cant remeber what it is, A google search may get you there.
  17. Poquoson is a run oriented team. No one has or will run the ball effectively against the blues this year. Going into the Brookeville game I had some conversations with people that suggested the Blues change the game plan. I replied and still believe that the Blues simply need to play the game that they know and make the opposition change the plan. I have had a few talks where people much more informed than I have made the satements that people have given to much credit to Richlands' opponents(I agree 100%). This defense is the best I have watched all year. Maybe one of the best I have ever watched on this end of the state. Poquoson wont be able to open holes in the middle and I think we all agree that there is enough speed to keep the corners contained. The offense has been physical when needed and explosive on any given play. I predict a 15 pnt plus lead at the half with the defense forcing turnovers in the second half. Richlands wins by 20 pnts plus with the subs getting plenty of action late in the game.
  18. "but you internet badasses would never talk so freely in my physical presence... that sir is not a quote from wikipedia... solid truth." PhatBeaver, If you would like an oppurtunity to discover if this might be a "reality" then come my way for lunch one afternoon. I'll gladly let you know what I think of your recent post. You have attacked without knowledge of intent and thrown around some strong language. If you are throwing out challenges as well be mindful of those that might rise to such.
  19. Hate to hear of the possibility of something like this happening. But basically, if it’s not on film it didn't happen. If you can find it on the game film and it appears to happen intentionally and with malicious intent then I say make a run at it. Otherwise it’s simply a part of a violent game.
  20. Whydo I love it? Because my wife hates football.
  21. Eugene, Have not read anything informative yet but as stated earlier coal isn't going away anytime soon. However with cap and trade and the projected restrictions placed on the coal industry by the EPA what you could see here are power rate increases that are not affordable. Boucher did in fact vote for C&T and while he worked to water it down for the coal industry it will in time cripple it. I've found some things on Griffith that may provide some insight. http://www.richmondsunlight.com/legislator/hmgriffith/ shows a few of the things that he has worked on. http://dela.state.va.us/dela/MemBios.nsf/cd9a628e9659025d85256c2900524ab1/776e98aea7644ee5852570d2005e9e6a?OpenDocument His bio that again lists things that he has worked on or with. Dig more when you have time and make your own decisions. My hope is that you are still in college working toward greater goals.
  22. Its my understanding that Matt had some medical issues that prohibited him from passing the physical.
