When will Richlands have interviews for the football job summer is almost here.

Heard there were interviews Friday. Any word on the applicants? I figured Patterson at Holston would be first one on their radar.

Maybe too little too late. They are interviewing next week for the Richlands job.

Now that a principal has been hired when will we know who the next coach is? I'm hearing Coach Jeff Tarter's name!

Change in school board done him in. They need to change their policy on all 5 chairs coming up for election at same time. What you get is 5 new people who have "new" ideas and they change the landscape. That makes no sense, all 5 seats should never be up for election at one time. Then you have coaches jockeying the board members who are running so when they get on they push their agenda and the school suffers.

Grundy was filled same night Compton was removed. 2012 Grundy Graduate Hannah Stiltner is new coach.

Where is the former D-Coordinator Tim Burke at he was at PH forever as an assistant. Seth Padgett helped call the offense there. Chase Nunley at Abingdon has done a good job in their weight room is he interested?? What about Ronnie Davis at Richlands? Mance is gone and Wells will call his offense and is bringing his own defensive coordinator. Maybe Davis is looking to leave.

If he was on JV as an 8th grader then he was on the Master Eligibility List. If he holds back he can’t play JV sports next year because he can’t be in the MEL

I thought he contacted them via zoom to tell them so they heard it from him?? So who gets the job next? Names front runners??

They pick the teams after end of regular season for All District, the Monday after the region Championship for all region, and then the week after state championship for all state. When they pick conference team usually conference tournament games have not played. When region is selected no state quarter final, semifinal, or final has been played. Usually the way they are ranked from the conference teams is how they must be selected in region. So if Tommy Jones is the mountain 7 player of the year no one in the mountain 7 can be nominated until he has been voted on the region team. I have seen some coaches vote for kids so they can get to their players on the list.

My understanding is Adams had a majority school board vote for years. He got whatever he wanted all he had to do was call whoever chairman of school board was at time and could run off whoever he wanted superintendents, principals, basketball coaches etc. He has had this power and this past November a new board who ran on a platform for change was elected. Looks like the change is starting.

Something that is a turn off is the board. Everytime it changes head football coach changes. Can't build anything like that. Martin was doing a decent job..board changes he is out. You will never build anything doing that. Boys basketball job has been same way here lately.

Isn't the Principal's brother the basketball and baseball coach? What better way to help your brother out than to hire a less adequate so that basketball and baseball do well!

Evolve or die. We live in the 21st Century. We have video Hudl on the field and turf fields. They exist today use them. Its Dec. 1 we have had rain and snow and the fields are trashed. Play on the best field PERIOD!! Emory is 15 min from Chilhowie they were the home host going 15 minutes to a field that is in Perfect Shape isnt too much to ask. Evolve, don't talk about 90s football 80s football BS. There weren't turf fields so teams had to play on them. If turf fields had been at Wise, Emory, Salem, Bluefield etc games would have been played on them. But they didn't exist. Evolve or die.

He was interim. They have to advertise it and then interview, but I would guess he will get it back. Washington County does everything by the BOOK!!

When was Reed's best year at Abingdon?? The year they played Lord Botetourt. Who called his offense that year?? Who came with him when he first got the Abingdon job? What was the difference in Reed at Wise Central and Reed at Abingdon....NICK COLOBRO!!! People who know, know why Abingdon was successful and they know why Reed started his decline at Abingdon, they also know why Luke Owens went 6-4 the year after Reed left at Central.... think about it!

You could go on and on with that list of multi-sport athletes. Ahmad Bradshaw was a heck of a basketball defender. Heath Miller was a great basketball player and baseball player think he only struck out 1 time his senior year. Both Jones Brother's played basketball and ran track. Josh Warren was a heck of basketball player. Calvin Talford was a great football player, baseball player, and broke records in track.

Mance most definitely does not teach math.
