No problem. Grundy wrestling has helped many other local teams as well. Lending wrestling mats, offering a free wrestling camp every summer, attending youth tournaments to help local schools fundraisers are just a few examples of their generosity. Love em or hate em, they have helped a lot of people through the years.

Thanks for the background. That was a great article.

Late 80s through to late 90s. They brought in another Iowa alum Travis Fiser when he left. Having resources to pull those two off is awesome. But they were pretty good before Dresser too. Dresser without a doubt rose then to National prominence.

Move should have quotation marks around it.

BigO, you yourself have been saying for years that Abingdon had the talent but not the coaching. Now a good coach has come and gone and youre saying its the talent. Pick an argument and stick with it.
Sturgill was a great QB but so was the kid they had before. The Falcons did nothing until Colobro was on staff, he was without a doubt integral to their recent success.

Thought some of you Tazewell fans would like to see this quote:
"If we ever stop pushing you, stop pointing out your mistakes, stop telling you what you can do to make this or that better, one of two things has happened. 1. You've gotten so good that you do nothing wrong. There is nothing more we can fix or correct. 2. We've given up on you. Let me assure you that neither of those two things are ever going to happen." ~ Nick Colobro

He will stick to that, or leave. He will not put up with parents interfering, and will not play politics.
Like someone else said..........give him the authority and get out of the way.

It will until the smarter coaches in SWVA get in the ear of their little league coaches and get them to develop 5-6 arms in every group of kids. Then it will improve.

Off season conditioning started the week after Thanksgiving last year. The weight room is open already now, with coaches in there supervising.

THS offers the options and opportunities, getting the kids to come out is the issue. I understand with other sports going on some may concentrate on that area but there are always opportunities to extend conditioning and lifting. It's not just seasonal, I know coaches that will stay behind and supervise and make sure they complete sessions. Again, this is one of the areas what parents don't see.

They haven't done any interviews yet. Nobody has been hired yet, told they were going to be hired or anything of the sort. Deadline to apply is December 19th. Interviews will be conducted after Christmas break.
Colobro would be great for Tazewell and it would be nice for him, if he were able to move close to his dad. It would be hard to imagine a more qualified person or better fit for the Bulldogs, but you never know.....
As far as moving to Tazewell.... Tazewell is an awesome place, full of awesome people, no matter what some of the folks from the outside think. The High School is awesome and it is full of awesome kids and they deserve nothing but the best in all areas, not just sports.
We have some special kids in this area folks, not sure how much you guys realize it, but after living in different areas..... it's not even close.

Watching and listening to Richlands fans defend transfers is like going to an AA meeting where everybody just fell off of the wagon.

I've often wondered why there isn't much talk of dual qb situations, fumbles, botched special teams play, ejections, and other costly mistakes by all the transfers since 2009 that have cost Richlands dearly in key situations. Not to mention the injuries that have occurred to some of the players that have made the switch.

Geez. I didn't know that people would take so much offense to opinions on that issue. I mean, it's not like it was the first time in his high school career that he had let down his teammates.

I'm afraid I will have to pass! The last opinion I shared on a Richlands topic, Cody Howie, an overly sensitive Richlands follower called my employer to complain.
Sensitive lot, those Richlands followers!
Good times!
