Cannot remember if it was a semi or state championship game way back in '92 (and I know someone will bring up cleat gate), but I think it was Orange County who protested using the Richlands field, (it was still grass).  I believe Orange county had received information from Salem about the condition of the field in the form that it wasn't fit for a tractor pull let alone a football game, and VHSL sent a delegation to inspect the filed.  They determined the game would not be moved and the game was played at the Ernie.  I believe up to the semi finals, the region has to make a decision on the condition of the field, and to me, the host team has won the right to host the game and should be the total decision of the school they represent.  In other words, if it's good enough for our team to play on, it's good enough for your team to play on.
I remember Richlands and Tazewell playing a regional championship game at the dog pound, and the field was horrible, but it was one heck of a game and perhaps one of the best old fashion slip and slid games I've witnessed.

One questionable? The kick was one. And it cost us a 7 point halftime lead with us having ALL of the momentum and getting the ball back. If that happens and Richlands scores again to go up 14, is that game still the same? Not saying we win, because Bluefield is good in their own right. 
But what about when Richlands has a stop on 3rd and long and a facemask call where the defender was wrapped around his waist? Or the missed offensive pass interference in the 2nd half? 
There were several calls where Richlands had big plays to change momentum, and a set of 7 old guys decided it wasn’t to be. 
Let the kids play ball and stay out of being the star of the show. 

I suppose Graham will lose again in the regular season!  That’s the thriller of the year so far along with Gate City-Richlands.

Hokiebird7 I have been involved with blues football before mance was there and I'm telling you brown is better but mance is not going to bench a Sr qb. Brown is in better timing with the wr. He does not lock in on one player. He is better it will show next year

I think we have the better qb on thw bench than what's starting. People will see that next year. If brown was in now blues by 21. Somthing is going on in the huddle Cody begged for the ball all night last week. I'm just saying our Sr leader makes me scratch my head alot.

If you look at records they are 12-1 but out of the 10 regular season games they only two have winning records. If you watch any of their games they play a lot of man on d I think river picks that apart. Its easy to have great looking secondary when everyone in the county knows when the pass is coming. A lot of their games this year the game plan was the same for both teams run run run pass only when need be. Don't forget they average 4 passes a game bluefield threw 4 passes in our game and three went for a pick two for pick six. So let them praise their d and keep sleeping on ours go big blue. I think the experience helps the blues pull away in this one

This sounds very stupid but I have family in the uva area and both school agreed to play on Friday because vhsl said that the high school game from week three on would be on sat so they where doing the entire state a favor by playing a day earlier and this would be an on going Friday game for the two colleges so that is pretty cool if so that two schools as big as that would do that for that reason is just really cool and very classy I think

Bluerazor I agree but like you said if Giles comes out throwing it helps the blues because that is not their style. Sometimes you can over think things and coach yourself out of the game. A couple of years ago that happened to us I think at cave ran the power I once and scored easy never went back to it. Enough rambling think the blues win by 3.

How can you say cats by 10 the blues are finally healthy the best they have been all year health wise it will be like round 1 close first half then the blues pull away va just dose not have the size to play four quarters with the blues my opinion blues by 14+
