  1. My favorite uniform look for the Blues is the white helmet,Blue jersey, and white pants. Don't like the all white for the reasons given, and the all blue I am just not as crazy about. I believe the white ,blue , white is what they wore last night, but you know, I sat there and watched the game and was so into the game and talking to my friends sitting around me that i didn't really pay much attention to what they wore, but i think I'm right on the white, blue, white. Really do like the white helmet though !
  2. I think this game comes down to how well the Blues are able to limit J.Cousin in the run game, and limit the big plays in the passing game. If JC is able to run at will then the Gmen win this game, but if the Blues front 7 are able to slow him down then the blues have a chance. I know that Graham can throw the ball pretty effectively, but if the Gmen are able to run the ball with JC then they can control the game and the amount of possessions the blues will have. Also the blues must be able to run the ball enough to keep the Gmen D at least a little off balance, whether that means JLA runs it like he did in the 2nd half in the 1st game or the run game that the Blues have had in the last couple of games, or in my opinion a combination of both show up, they cannot be one dimensional and beat this Graham team. I also think that Howie has to be the Howie we saw earlier in the year, hopefully he is close to 100% by Friday, the blues are going to need his speed and big play capability ! It was great to see S.Ball back to 100% again, the first time in a while with him fighting that ankle injury most of the year. By the way, D Booker had just a fantastic game last night and we will need another game like this from him this week. Going to be a great game no matter who wins with what should be one of the best game atmosphere's around here in a looong time !
  3. We couldn't have recruited him anyways, we used up our recruiting fund for the year on this and last weeks pre-game fireworks !
  4. Way to go Bears, was keeping up with your game while at the Blues game, was so glad to see you guys pull off that win ! Now go give em hell next week !
  5. Congrats to both Graham and Union on their wins tonight, hated to see that Hurley lost though, but congrats on a good season !
  6. Good to hear, can always use another big body. Should give us good size on the D-line next year with him and Bull !
  7. Wanted to like your post Starcity but I am already out of likes, so good luck to you all tonight also ! Hope for an all Tazewell County game next week !
  8. All you Union fans please have a safe trip out there and back and bring back a win tonight ! Go Bears !
  9. I want to 2nd the wish for everyone to have a safe trip to and from their respective games ! Good luck to all the far Southwest Virginia teams !
  10. Gmen in this one. Martinsville is a good team and might keep it close for a half, but in the end it will be just too much Cousine, Cook and the rest for Graham.
  11. Congrats Hurley on the win, good luck next week !
  12. Congrats to Gate City on a their season ! Faced a lot of adversity with the injuries and new coach and kept working and getting better !
  13. Union can play with & possibly beat any of the top 3 or 4 teams in the west, as they proved when they played at Richlands earlier in the year, but, the only thing for me as far as Unions chance to make it to Salem is the fact of them having to travel to DR in the 2nd round and then having to possibly turn right around and travel again in the 3rd to face Appo, man, that is a gauntlet right there. If they can pull off beating those 2 in back to back road games, that would be championship worthy..........at least IMHO ! That is assuming of course that the higher seeds all win, and you know what they say about assuming anything........
  14. I totally forgot about the 703, told ya I had a bad case of gray hair syndrome !
  15. I wish Abingdon the best and hope and I think they will beat Northside, would like to see them make another run like last year only a little further along !
  16. I know here in Richlands, we were 540 for as long as I can remember until the switch to 276, but because of my gray hair syndrome, I can't remember when the switch happened.
  17. I didn't always agree with everything you said, but I'm sure there are a lot on here that can say the same about me, but I hate to see anyone lose their job and have to make a move. Good luck on your move and hope it all works out for ya !
  18. As of right now my guess would be either Appo or Graham. They seem to be playing the best as of now, but things can change because of injury and other issues. I think Richlands could be right there if they at least get enough of a running threat to keep teams from dropping 7 or 8 into coverage. Mance knows this and may have something up his sleeve for the playoffs, but if not , then it will be hard for them in the later rounds against teams that are well coached & with the athletes to cover the blues receivers and /or has a good enough pass rush to hurry JLA with his decisions and throws. Union is also good enough to be be there at the end. There are at least 4 to 5 teams capable of making it to Salem.
  19. I love my blues, but I believe that as of right now, it will either be Appo or Graham to win the 2A championship. Goochland may be every bit as good as any of the top 5 in the west, but I just don't know enough about them to add them in, I'll let somebody that may have seen them play comment on them. I'm just strictly talking about the teams from the west that i think will be on top at the end. If we get a little better O-line play and find at least a little better running game then we have had then we have a chance, but I think that Appo and Graham are playing the best at this moment. But injuries and other factors that we may not see right now can change all of that. Good luck to all the teams in the far western part of our state in the playoffs !
  20. I sure wish this young man the best ! I hope he goes where he wants and has a fantastic career. Nothing I love more than seeing a kid from our part of Virginia get to continue playing football, getting his education and seeing his dreams come true ! I will be watching for him on Saturdays............after he is done at Union !
  21. I didn't know that Ryan, so glad to hear it though..........been needing that for a while, good for them !
  22. I'm with you redtiger ! Of course most everybody on here knows I am a Richlands fan, but my wife graduated from Honaker and still teaches at an elementary school there so we always go to at least a couple of Honaker games every season. The one game we always went to was the battle of the Tigers. I always enjoyed the trip to Haysi to watch a game there. Always a great atmosphere and a good place to watch that game. I hate that we are losing that small school/town feeling and atmosphere with all the consolidations. I know it's just the way it is at most places now because of the economic issues, but still sad.
  23. Can anybody give me a heads up on Richlands JV & 8th grade team? I haven't been able to get out and watch them at all this year because of different reasons so I would like to know how they looked.
  24. Me and my family will keep him in our thoughts and prayers and wish him the best !
