  1. Getting ready to head down to the smokies,  so will not be able to be at the game today.  Promised my wife weeks ago to take her down for a couple of days to do some Christmas shopping.  I would raither take a nail to an eye as to do any kind of shopping,  but a promise is a promise........I guess.  But at least I will get a good steak dinner at the Alamo........love that place !  Will be keeping an eye on the game on my phone at least.

Good luck to both teams !  Wish I was there to see the game and check out the Ridgeview facilities.  Hope everyone that goes to the game has a safe trip to and from the game and the players all have a safe & injury free game !

    Go Big Blue !!

  2. I love playoff games on Saturdays,  but was hoping for a Friday gametime for this one.  I will be going out of town on Saturday morning and was really wanting to see this game.  Would love to see the Ridgeview facilities and their team !

Good luck to Ridgeview although I do hope for the upset !

    Go Big Blue !

  3. Good lord,  they were in the Southwest district for years with AA schools and thoses schools were competative with them and beat them a lot of the time.

They have no AAA schools within reasonable driving distance.  The travel would be very exspensive and tough on the fans and teams if they had to make that drive everyweek they had an away game and that's not counting the other sports were they play more than 1 game a week.  If there were other 3A schools that were not 2 to 3 hr drives then I am sure there would be another solution,  but there isn't, so play em and quit crying about it !

I'm glad to see them back on our schedule again next year,  it was usually a good game and great banter between the 2 fan bases on here...........where oh where did Falconboy and his sidekick go ?  Those were fun days !

  4. Congrats to Graham on the big win !  Better team right now with more speed and your coaches did a great job of having them prepared.  Games like this happens once in a while and Richlands needs to let this one go (easier said than done ) and get ready for the next one up !  We've had many games like this go in our favor and we've had some ( not many ) go against us and you just have to tip your hat to the better team and go back to work !

Good luck to Graham in the future (  unless we meet in the playoffs )  and wish you guys the best !  The Blues still have one of the best coaches in AA and I'm sure they will learn from this. They should still make the playoffs and that's why it's important for them to let this one go and get back to work.  Like I said before,  sometimes you just have games like this against a team that is better.  The Blues just need to keep working hard and moving forward.

  5. Stu,  that's a good question !  I know that I was bullied once and my way was to fight back and make it not worth the trouble to bullie,  but my friend that I talked about in my earlier post was not a very big guy and felt that he could not go that route.  He was very frightened and he felt ashamed and could not go to his parents ( which is a whole other issue ).  He went to his teachers at the time but nothing was done and the bullying actually got worse after school (  the reason myself and my friend got involved ).

I think he just got to the point were he just didn't know what else to do, and at that age ( some are more mature than others ) and felt it would just go on forever.  He confided finally to me and our other friend because he felt he had no other option and thank god he decided not to take the suicide way.

I think some just get to the point were they feel they have no other way out and feel ashammed and helpless.  Just a guess on my part by the conversations I had with him.

Prayers for this young mans family, friends, and RHS. Similar situation happened when I was in high school and it literally affects everyone associated with the school. I would love to see Graham and RIchlands come together before the game Thursday night and honor this young man with prayer.

Wonderful thought and idea...........hope they do !!

  7. I hadn't heard about that yet Ryan,  so so sad !  Prayers for his family and friends.  I hate bullying so much !

It happened to a good friend of mine when I was in school and he had similar thoughts about taking his own life.  Thank the good lord that he made it through that and now has a wonderful life and family,  but he came close to not being here because of bullying.  Me and another of his good friends stepped in and confronted the bullies and played a small part in helping,  but he found his own inner strength to fight through it.

I've hated bullies so much since then.

I cannot imagine what this kids parents and family & friends are going through right now.  Much love and prayers to all of them !

  8. I think coaching made a difference and also the strength of schedule,  and I'm not looking down on Tazewells schedule as much as I am talking about the tough one the Blues have played.  They were use to the speed Tazewell had,  and knew how to contain it becuase of playing teams like Blacksburg, W Byrd and Bluefield and the U.Bears.

Tazewell is coming,  I think there is no doubt about it,  but they were up against a team that has been tested by one of the toughtest schedules around and I do think that and coaching made a difference.

Good luck to Tazewell the rest of your season !
