Gfan, everything you wrote sounds spot on to me regarding my limited times watching Graham last season, but I will write this...and I wrote about it every time I watched Graham last year regarding how solid Graham looked, but with one concern and that is.......Graham needs to design some shallow crosses.  In order for the Meadows kid to work the middle of the field more than the QB you all had last year, Graham's offense needs to send a WR or RB 5-7 yds off the ball across the middle of field on a pass route.  Graham is very solid and has been solid for many years under Palmer who's work as Head Coach needs no debating.  He's solid as is their coaching staff, but the only thing (literally only 1 thing) that has perplexed me in watching you guys is very few to sometimes none (not 1 the whole game) short passing routes in the middle of the field.
It could very well be preference on purpose, as many coaches in High School are not big fans of middle of the field stuff because of the turnover risk and when you have the athletes to simply run 3 or 4 flag routes and still complete a pass for a long gain or touchdown, but it can be a big plus against athletic teams.  Just my opinion.  With all the above written, common sense also tells me we are talking about a team that has made deep runs in the playoffs and playing for state titles, so very, very, very little critique needs given.  I'm just doing it because I like talking about football and love the discussion.  For the 1 concern I listed above, I could list 10 other overwhelmingly positives that most other teams wished they had.

This is one of many reasons I never root for Bluefield in any sports, ever. All this "Bluefield's stick together except one game a year"  is pure crap. I wouldn't care if they lost every game they ever play. I have many family members and friends who I love that are Beavers but I still won't cheer for them to win unless they were to play the Taliban or Isis.

You are reaching. Graham moved the ball better than Appo in this game. If they don't kick to him, Graham would start possessions near mid field, and that would further limit Appos possessions

There are many options along I-81 or 460 to practice besides doing a behind the scenes deal to practice at the home team’s field without even running it by the home team’s head coach, Graham pays to use that facility. Princeton is a 10-15 minute drive from Comfort Inn.  I’m not 100% sure how much in the know the city employee that I spoke with is but he said Appo paid nothing. If that’s the case it’s even more of a bad look for the town of Bluefield, WV. Does Appo have the right to practice on Friday, absolutely! Should they have been afforded the opportunity to practice at Mitchell without Graham even being asked, my answer is a resounding no! But like I said, I’m petty. Lol! Appo took advantage of a situation out of Graham’s hands, kudos to them! Ultimately, won’t affect the outcome today, it’s just unheard of in my opinion. This needs to propel Bluefield, VA to build our own stadium & quit giving Bluefield, WV tens of thousands of dollars every year to use Mitchell.

If Graham didn't know about it, it's because Bluefield, WV, doesn't respect you.  All the togetherness of Bluefield's I've read about over the years up there seems one sided.  Bluefield, WV, is a gigantic sesspool of economic failure.  Bluefield, VA, should have built its own stadium years ago, but you guys just don't learn.  Bluefield, WV's economic failures were due to Bluefield, VA, outsmarting them, and dumb dumbs don't deserve a leg up.  They deserve to be isolated in their dumbness.

Tony is the heart & soul of that program and turned it around. He has surrounded himself with a great staff and the kids love playing for him. They most definitely would run through a brick wall for him, figuratively speaking.  I hope,  like you, the momentum carries on for years. Tony is a class act on & off the field.

If Tony Palmer hadn't proved how much he loves Graham and these kids before, he definitely did this week. The example he set this week is first rate. Good coach even better person.

Look who Union is losing to each year.  They are losing in the playoffs mostly to state champions, be it Graham or Appo.  One could make a valid argument,,,,again, arguable that Union has been the 2nd or 3rd best Class 2 program in the state of Virginia since 2011.  Think about it.  Who's been better?  Appo is one, then you have teams like Graham, Richlands (up until 2016), but Graham didn't really come out of their funk until 2015ish, Draft, Poquoson, Clarke County, Giles, Glenvar, Radford.  Give the nod to Graham for a state title, (maybe) and Union is likely the 3rd best, maybe the 2nd best Class 2 program in the state of Virginia over the last 10 years.
Union should make offensive adjustments.  Needs to get a modern run oriented offensive system, but that doesn't require a coaching change.  Union is well coached.  They lost to a team that is clearly better and Union has been in the West where they were unfortunate enough to meet Appo in the semi's.  Replace Union and Draft, swap them out and put Union in the East and Draft in the West, and Union is playing for perhaps 4 state title games the past 10 years.

Tony Palmer is the difference. Prior to him becoming the head coach the weight room was an option. Not a lot of kids wanted to play football prior to TP being the head coach. From what I hear they would run through a brick wall for TP. This coaching staff seems to be able to adjust schemes and make changes on the fly. Hope this Graham momentum carries on for many years!

I think Tony Palmer is an excellent head coach and had quality personnel in place prior to the addition to Dennis Palmer. I do think he brought a new dynamic to Graham’s defense and helped mold it into the powerhouse it seems to evolved into but that couldn’t have happened without Tony & other coaches buying into it. It’s long been said by many, Dennis Palmer is a defensive mastermind. Of course, having talent that’s coachable is always a plus. I have always believed Mance getting rid of Palmer lead to the downward spiral of the Blue Tornado. I dare say a lot of Richlands people feel the same way. I think the coaching staff in conjunction with talent has helped propel Graham into a solid winning program. Kids love Tony & the other coaches. They have fun & play hard for them, That’s what it’s all about…memories for a lifetime. Football is so much more than a game.

I agree.  Michael Horton, the strength coach is outstanding as well.  Graham has a lot of football knowledge on the sidelines.  Rex Bradshaw deserves a lot of credit.  Yubrenal Isabelle has NFL experience.  Ahmad Bradshaw is always giving advice and helping out. He was trying to get the crowd on their feet Saturday on the sideline early in the game.  But the main reason is Tony Palmer and his love for those kids and Graham High School footbal.  He emphasizes "family" but he doesnt just say it, like many coaches, he lives it.
