Did you vote for Bush? Because you should have one that says "blame me, I voted for Bush!". The country is in the worst shape it's ever been in, after having record surpluses and very low unemployment when he took over. This administration has driven the country on the verge of an economic nightmare.

THE WORST SHAPE IT'S EVER BEEN IN!!!!! That's just ignorant. Do me a favor. Go get a history book and take a look at the politics before the Civil War. I would assume America was in a little worse shape then. I say that because states were so pissed off, they wanted to make their own country. Do you understand the magnitude of that action? Go take a look at the politics during Vietnam. Go pick up some economic facts about the Great Depression. I promise. It's been a lot worse than it is now. Whatever happens with this election, I can promise you one thing. America is bigger than it. We are an incredibly resilient nation and will remain that way, regardless of one leader.

Obama is nothing but a great orator with a bunch of rhetoric. He says a lot, but will do nothing! I have heard the same speech given from Dems and Repubs for the past 20 years, I will admit that his was more praise worthy and well delivered however. Nonetheless, I too agree with Lance, I once was a staunch Conservative Republican, I too have left my allegiance open. I know for a fact that I am not a liberal Democrat, but something must change in politics in America. Now is a great time for a sound third party candidate to run, unfortunately there aren't any running unless you count Barr as a legitimate contender, which I do not!

I am leaning toward Libertarianism, but I can't handle some of their positions either, but at least they support small government, low taxes and freedom of the individual. Whatever happened to hard work, keep your word, pay your taxes and try to pursue happiness?

Obama said that he was going to push for clean coal technology, when he can't find enough technology to satisfy his tree hugging liberals, he will attempt to eliminate coal, which should go over well here in the COALFIELDS, he said so himself a few weeks ago. "Remove our dependence on coal and foreign oil in 10 years." I like how he set the timeline for 10 years, knowing that he can only serve 8 YEARS, he would then be able to blame HIS failure on the next president!

Obama said that he he would CUT TAXES by 95% to the working class or middle class Americans. So how does he expect to bring about all of this change? You have to have money to do this, if he expects to LEACH (TAX) it from the evil big business that are built on the American dream of Capitalism and the free market he is only going to run them out of America and force them to an overseas market. Which will in turn lead to more unemployment.

I will admit the guy stirs me up when he talks, but I require some substance, I don't need my ears tickled, I need some hard evidence and so far he has NOT told how HE is going to bring about this change. But, I will keep listening and hopefully, he can start to give hard numbers for how this is going to happen.

later..................

GREAT post. But I feel he won't be able to give hard numbers for how this is going to happen. Obama is all fluff and no substance, and that's incredibly dangerous, considering the precarious position this great nation's in now.

Yes the price of gas has went up but THANK GOD, the number of abortions has went down, which is more important to you? The price of fuel or the life of an innocent child?

You can argue that it is the Republican party that DRIVES people to the welfare lines if you wish, but you cannot ignore the fact that it is the DEMOCRATIC party that encourages them to stay there!

Great post--well written and with lots of wisdom.

To be perfectly honest I am not excited about McCain or Obama. We have gotten to the point in our country where we are basically voting for the less of two evils. On that note I would encourage anyone who has any respect for God or the Bible to take a look at this video. I understand that there are many important issues to be discussed during the election process. But if we don't have the favor of God in our country then I don't care how good our economy is or how strong our military is. Every great power falls from within. Just study the history of the Roman Empire. We say God bless America and then we live like the Devil. Take a look at this video and in spite of what you may already think of the candidates this should make you think long and hard about voting for this man.

Did anyone watch the RNC tonight? Fred Thompson delivered what I thought to be an excellent speech... Thompson was my choice from the very beginning but tonight he really made me a believer of McCain. In the recent past it has been me choosing the lesser of two evils, but I am starting to warm up to McCain and I think by the time November rolls around I will support him.

I am also really starting to believe that his choice of Sarah Palin could really pay off. She is a true conservative and a working mother of 5 children who I believe could really sway both the far right and the women also. Not to mention she is looking better and better every time I see her! Stiffler's mom in the White House???

I am pro God, pro life, pro coal, pro country, pro gun rights, I am going with the ticket who espouses these positions. If not may as well as live in China.:)

You DO live in China, remember, we gave them this land in trade for cheap made goods. If you're against abortion.....don't have one! There have been several democrat Presidents and congress was controled over 40 years by democrats........how many guns have you had taken from you? You might want to read your bible a bit closer. Matthew 25:31-46 would be a good place to start.

This country has been drove off a cliff by this inept administration. Sure, they blame Clinton for it ALL as they always blame someone else. Gas was $1.46 a gallon when Bush and Dick took office. We suffered the worst terrorist attack in our county's history. The attacks were carried out by 16 Saudis out of 19 terrorist, a Saudi was the mastermind.......so we attack IRAQ! Real wages are down, inflation is up, the national debt is unpayable, people are losing their homes at an alarming rate. The oil companies, credit card companies, drug companies etc. have been more than taken care of. The GOP goal is to rid the money people of that pesky middle class, this administration has almost accomplished that, McCain should be able to finish us off. WAKE UP!

I am pro life and it sounds as if you are not. What gives you the position to tell me to read the Bible. You take an opposing position to that of pro lifers just as Obama does, who says he is a Christian yet cannot even tell when a child has rights.

You should wake up and realize that numerous times Obama has voted against the middle class. Secondly, he is a socialist, so that doesnt help the middle class either, just the lower class for people who do not work.

And what does matthew 25 have to do with abortion? Or anything in that matter unless you are trying to judge us, which there is only one that can do that. Dont cast stones buddy...

Barack Obama is a Socialist. How? well let me begin...

How about we start with Healthcare. According to Obama, everyone should have it, but who is gonna pay for it? The people making money and paying taxes. Everyone should have fair means of getting healthcare, aka equal oppurtunity. That is socialist thinking.

Obama wants to tax the high tax bracket, such as my good friends Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly, to give up 50% of their earnings to taxes, which in turn gives everyone a equal chance. Socialist. (note: Barack Obama has voted to increase, or not to decrease middle class taxes twice)

Obama wants to give jobs to everyone through the goverment and OUR taxes. Socialist.

In a world where most people are moderates leaning right and capitalists, it makes you wonder if Obamas recent move to the middle of the political spectrum means anything from being considered the farthest left presidential candidate to date.

It does.

It shows that Barack Obama is not the "audacity of hope" but he is just a politician who tells people what they want to hear and is trying to win an election. And this summer, Obama sure is wearing his flip-flops.

I will even add that Obama is a giant supporter of labor Unions, which is also the mark of a socialist.

He accepts the World Poverty act, a world tax, and taking down the Bush tax cuts. But i mean he is great for the middle class... LOL.

For what it's worth....earlier today I stopped at a Steak n Shake to get a...... shake. There were no cars behind me when I got to the drive thru window. I asked the kid at the window if he was in HS....(he looked it) but said he was 23. I asked him if he was voting and he said yes....and then to my surprise....he said he was voting for McCain. The reason for my surprise????? All I've heard is how the young are leaning toward Obama. Then he surprises me even more by stating why he wouldn't vote for Obama. I mean this young man was very informed and didn't mind telling me the reasons.

Now, does this mean anything .....nope.....but that's one more vote for McCain that I wasn't expecting.

I love the new republican catch phrase "socialist", have you heard of fascism? You should have, you've lived under such rule for 8 years.

It's unbelieveable to me that people are too lazy to actually do ANY research but will believe anything they hear from the right wing cronies.

I am a christian also, did I say anywhere that I approve of abortion? I don't, at all. I'm pro-choice not pro-abortion. I believe in the constitution and law, something that has been lost the past 8 years. If the law changes (which it won't, the republicans won't let it, they need the issue too bad) I will be 100% for what the law says.

I do have enough sense to know when I am being used by a political party, apparently you do not. The republicans come up with these wedge issues every election and the simple minded fall for it. How else could they get you to vote against your best interest? What have the republicans done about abortion? NOTHING, and they won't, they need the issue every election to reel in the simple minded.

matthew 25 has nothing to do with abortion, I did'nt say it did. It just shows the difference in the party of greed and the party of common people.

Anyhow, if the past 8 years hasn't convinced you, nothing I say will make a difference. You've went to the kool-aid and drank your fill. It's unbelieveable to me that we've had the worst President ever for 8 years and people are still willing to vote for his clone. How gullible can you be?

Last time I checked more people DIED under SOCIALISM/COMMUNISM THAN DID Fascism. Ol' man Hitler couldn't hold a light to Stalin and his socialist cronies. By the way both sucked, just for the record. What Hitler did was wrong and so was Stalin, two wrongs don't make a right.

To say that we have lived under Fascism for the past 8 years is a little out there, but then again after 8 years of Communism under the Clintons I guess that we needed some balance!

The KEY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A LIBERAL VOTING CHRISTIAN AND A CONSERVATIVE VOTING CHRISTIAN GOES LIKE THIS....

1. Christian number 1 is opposed to abortion, is opposed to same sex marriages, supports traditional families and family values. This Christian finds a candidate with like minded philosophy and votes for that person.

2. "Christian" number 2 says they are opposed to abortion, is opposed to same sex marriages, supports traditional families and family values. This Christian loves their political party too much and votes for a candidate that does not endorse those beliefs. This person is best known as a HIPOCRIT!

* Christian number 2 loves his political party more than he does the mandates, ordinances and instructions of God almighty and makes lame excuses like "they'll never do anything about abortion anyway...." just to justify his hipocrisy! Christian number 1 will not vote for his political party if the candidate stands in opposition to those things that he holds most dear to him........God, family and country!

That is the difference! Own it and wear it proud, but do not deny the truth!!

By the way, I make more money now than I did during COMRADE CLINTONS REIGN, I pay less taxes and I have more expendable income and oh yeah.......fewer babies have died as a result of KILL 'EM ALL WHENEVER YOU WANT TO HOWEVER YOU WANT TO LIBERAL LEFT WING ABORTION POLICIES!

Question: If Liberals are so PRO-CHOICE why are they opposed to my CHOICE to own a gun?

Actually you must not, because you've been told by the media how bad it is under evil bush and how he is responsible for everything wrong with the world for the last 4 years and you're believing it. Is he the best president, not at all, he isn't reagan for certain, is bush the worst, not at all.

My best interest is not more government and more rule in my life.

You people who would vote for this "change' are well beyond the 1st steps to surrendering to government, a government of the people, not for them, and well on your way to being controlled by those seeking power.

Ok, reading the more govt, less govt debate leads me to an honest question. When was the last time that the Federal government actually got smaller?

I know that under some administrations it's growth has been slown a bit, but honestly aren't we just talking about a matter of degree here?

Let's face it, there are massive problems with both of these candidates, just like there have been with every candidate since the first election I could vote in (1992).

Bush has been a horrible president, I really don't see how you can say otherwise, and hey, I'm at least partly to blame, I voted for the guy.

I would have happily voted for McCain 8 years ago, and I may eventually come around to that this time, but honestly with the changes in his rhetoric and his seemingly blind obediance to the party line of late, he just comes across as a typical politician, not a reformer.

As far as Obama goes. The man gives a great speech. But for those who try to portray him as pure as the driven snow, I've got news for you. The man came up through what is probably the most corrupt political system in the country in Chicago. I seriously doubt the man came through that unscathed.

Sorry about the rant, I guess for now you'll just have to put me down as undecided....better make that disgusted.

I know more about the issues than most any other voter around. You can sit there and talk about the right wing media, but you should look at the left wing media.

I DONT RESEARCH? Trust me, I have been challenged many times on this board and every time I prove that what I say does have meaning to it.

I called Obama a socialist, not for the first time, and I proved I knew what I was saying. Your facism claim was left unwarranted.

Moving on, I dont really care about abortion. Yes, of course I am pro-life, but there are many more other things I want to see happen that need to be done in this country. These issues, such as gas prices, the war on terror, illegal immigration, healthcare, the tax system, and overall how our next president will act in times of distress.

Now, not only do I disagree with Obama on almost every issue, I dont believe in the man. For various reasons obviously. If you want to know ask, ill dig up some former posts for you.

The thing that drives me crazy, is democrats are always give me this, give me that. GO OUT AND EARN IT. No one deserves anything for being born, especially in America where the oppurtunities are endless.

Trust me, im informed.
