EH31 Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 What kind of stats did the kid from PH have to beat out Harris from Galax for POY? Quote
Account Deleted Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 These teams are always subjective. Its hard to take them seriously. Its an absolute joke that Daniel Edwards and Daniel Harrison were left out completely. Both anchored the best offensive line I have ever seen. SW_VA_boy and RCITYHOO 2 Quote
Beamerball Posted December 17, 2015 Author Report Posted December 17, 2015 What kind of stats did the kid from PH have to beat out Harris from Galax for POY? Per tweet by Tim Hayes, he finished with 2,983 yards rushing (11 game total). Seen elsewhere that he had 35 TD's. Harris had 3,228 yards, 45 TD's (15 games). Quote
big ugly vol Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 These things are sometimes ridiculous, always at least a few questionable picks. Not to take anything from Harris but the kid from PH is good. He at least belongs in the conversation. I have seen much worse picks. hope the 2a comes out soon. Quote
Account Deleted Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 Galax probably doesn't even make the playoffs without that OL and for none of them to even get an honorable mention is ludicrous. SW_VA_boy and RCITYHOO 2 Quote
West12aaa Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 Anyone feel like this list was made before the finals with all the JIB players on it? Not saying they are deserving but for a state champion run heavy team not to have more than one o line man its odd Quote
1inStripes Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 Galax probably doesn't even make the playoffs without that OL and for none of them to even get an honorable mention is ludicrous. Have you seen the all MED team? That may be where your beef shall lie. I dont know how they do it now, but in the past if you didnt make 1st team for your district your name didnt go forward for the all region teams to even vote on. Quote
redtiger Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 All 5 of Galaxs OL should be either 1st or 2nd imo. They were EVERYTHING to that team. Idk that ive ever seen a offense more dependent on the OL. Their Offensive game plan wasnt for the backs to make plays, it was for the OL to get the RBs 4-5 yards a carry. wave316 and Account Deleted 2 Quote

That's correct about the district, or so i've been told. But that was the best O line i've seen in along time. And if for any reason they didn't make all conference it's a shame. After Galax played Radford I said that their left tackle was the best Offensive lineman i'd seen in high school, EVER. Account Deleted 1 Quote

It's all a horse trade anyway. You vote for my guy and I will vote for yours! Dixon doesn't participate in that garbage from what I understand. 1inStripes 1 Quote
OLINE77 Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 The Galax Oline should be the player of the year in the 1A West and the state. redtiger, Account Deleted and wave316 3 Quote
swvafbrespect Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 To be considered for all region you must be first team all conference. and to make all state 1st team all region. It all starts with conferences and each coach gets a vote but can't vote for their player. There are always questionable decisions plus a coach has to nominate his players. Quote
Account Deleted Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 I understand how the process works, I just don't understand how a kid getting serious D1 attention isn't even honorable mention. I know Dixon doesn't "horse trade" like other coaches but still, if anyone has seen a better 1A OL than Daniel Edwards #63, I would love to see them. wave316 1 Quote
Account Deleted Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 This list must have been decided early on, Zamir Echeagaray hasn't played on the OL since the GIles game. Quote

honestjohn Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 Dixon should have been Coach of the Year. Some teams got snubbed and some I think the Water Boy made honorable mention. RCITYHOO and wave316 2 Quote
1inStripes Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 MED has not picked team in 3 years.....teams go straight to Conference selections Thats actually a good point. I keep thinking old days of districts. Now I assume it should be whichever Conference team may be selected first before region meetings. Quote
mriguy74 Posted December 19, 2015 Report Posted December 19, 2015 I watched Humpfrey a couple times, he was very impressive. If he turned the corner he was usually in for the score. Quote
