Falcon Mania 235 Report Share Posted August 29, 2016 Anyone want to weigh in on this one? Or will this be a repeat of last year?
Ryan4VT 4,554 Report Share Posted August 29, 2016 If Collier is still out, it will be much like last year. Their D is a good little unit, but it can't carry the team. Once Collier gets back, GC will surprise some people.
falconfan1 125 Report Share Posted August 29, 2016 AHS has a great defensive line. I agree with Collier out, it will be a tall order for the Devils.
Bigrhsfan 884 Report Share Posted August 29, 2016 Totally agree with Ryan on this game. GC's defense is a good unit, but they will get worn down as long as their offense is unable to move the ball. Abingdon's offense is just too good. GC may hang in there for a short time, but in the end the game will end up a lot like last year. But when GC gets Collier back in a couple of games, they will be a better team. As always in GC, they play hard, but just were not able to move the ball with any consistency without Collier at QB, and having all the 3 & outs just wears a defense down, and against a offense like the Falcons have, that's a bad recipe. Union_Fan 2,155 Report Share Posted August 29, 2016 It did sound like GC gave Asbury fits in the first half. I have a feeling that won't be enough against Abingdon. I like the Falcons. I'm just worried that these difficult early games will have GC nice and mad when they get Collier back in time for Union.
Falcon Mania 235 Author Report Share Posted August 29, 2016 I was a little surprised when getting game updates this past Friday of the GC vs Richlands game but then just chalked it up to first game jitters. I will say this. Don't sleep on John Battle they competed to the last snap and if they can fix a couple of things they could be very competitive. Union, you could be right. If Collier is back by the time yall play them GC could be chomping at the bits. I still say GC has a murders row the first 6 weeks of their schedule but I have no doubt GC will be back competing in the near future. I figured they would spank us to be honest. But we came out with the W. :) Union_Fan

BigO 316 Report Share Posted September 1, 2016 I'm not involved as much as I used to be so I can't say for sure either way. But, IF it is true, the only explanation that I can think of would be to let Reed get a feel for doing it. Post game the 2 of them sit down and go through the play calling. Maybe Reed's just doing it for games that AHS is heavily favored and a bad play call doesn't cost them the game. That's all just pure speculation on my part. Leatherhead Larry 530 Report Share Posted September 1, 2016 Abingdon by a big margin. Gate City has zero pass coverage. Richlands dropped multiple wide open touchdown passes. No pass coverage? GC had 3 picks with one going for a TD. EH31 and Jason
local_insight 146 Report Share Posted September 1, 2016 No pass coverage? GC had 3 picks with one going for a TD. I'll give ya credit there. 3 picks the first half. JLA did play a horrible game with some terrible reads but, give credit where credit is do. I stand corrected
Ryan4VT 4,554 Report Share Posted September 1, 2016 No pass coverage? GC had 3 picks with one going for a TD. Two of those were balls that hit Howie dead in the hands and were tipped up and intercepted by GC. The one to the LB was straight up JLA making a bad throw, but the first two were no fault of his own. local_insight
Falcon Mania 235 Author Report Share Posted September 3, 2016 I can't believe GC played Collier tonight. Poor guy looked like he couldn't move around well in the pocket. That being said, Abingdon jumped out to a quick start and never looked back.
Jason 299 Report Share Posted September 3, 2016 Abingdon named the score tonight. Could have easily scored 100. That offense is unlimited to its weapons.
