nrv_football 77 Report Share Posted September 11 This should be a good game. I'm taking Narrows by 7. Could go either way though. 1Wingit23
SWVAgridiron 1,398 Report Share Posted September 11 Chilhowie had a good game plan against Narz on Friday. They doubled up on Pruett and shut him down. However, another one of the Waves’ receivers stepped up and took over. I can see Giles doing something similar on defense. One thing that helped us last year is we started putting a lot of pressure on the QB so we will need to replicate that on Friday. Our secondary isn’t great and Narrows’ run defense doesn’t seem to be as good this year as years past so it could come down to a shoot out. I’m gonna say Giles 31-28. wdr31 4 Report Share Posted September 11 Narrows has a solid team. Was glad to see they trusted other players to produce. Don't know anything about Giles.
BandanaVTDavis4321 1,618 Report Share Posted September 11 If you take the uniforms off and ensure neither teams players, fans, coaches knows nothing about the history, Narrows wins this game 5, maybe 6 out of 10 times in my opinion for this year, 2023. But, there is history and there are the uniforms. I think the BandanaBunch steps up and wins a close one. I'm going low scoring though. First team to 21 wins. Just my opinion. Yea I figured he would probably go for bball but he could be a stand out athlete in football as well at the next level.
nrv_football 77 Author Report Share Posted September 11 The reason I think Narrows wins is the Giles secondary won't be able to cover the receivers. Narrows won't be able to run the ball very well if at all. Now if Giles gets pressure on the QB different story. I believe Giles will run the ball pretty well and the score will be in the 20s. More of shootout. I favor a passing game in a shootout.
SWVAgridiron 1,398 Report Share Posted September 12 Just heard some sad news that the Spartans may be without a key offensive and defensive player(not gonna disclose who it is). If this is the case I may change my prediction to 28-17 in favor of the Waves.

May be the last year Narrows has a good shot for awhile. Giles JV seems to be on point.
BandanaVTDavis4321 1,618 Report Share Posted September 12 It's a shame. That's the way the ball bounces in Class 1. So little depth with Class 1 schools and 1 or 2 injuries can cripple a team, if they are the right injuries to key players.
SWVAgridiron 1,398 Report Share Posted September 13 Giles JV improves to 4-0 on the season after beating the Waves 36-0. They have outscored their opponents 156-34. Starters have not played in the 4th quarter yet this season Hokiebird7

Being from Appy I miss 1A ball and would love to see teams like Bath Co. and Parry Mc. being elite programs again especially since they’re not 2A competing with Union nrv_football
BandanaVTDavis4321 1,618 Report Share Posted September 14 If we get pressure up front on defense, we can win. The best way for us to limit the effectiveness of their receivers is pressure by the DL which we had some success with that last year. We've got to win those 1 on 1 battles on the line. I don't think Narrows OL is as good as last year. It's very close, but I think their OL is slightly a notch down from last year, so that gives me some hope. They will still have some big plays offensively and we must also have enough of our very own big plays offensively. nrv_football

It really does come down to who makes fewer mistakes and the defensive line for Giles getting pressure on the QB. According to them, "we got 3 guys better than that bum." I just grabbed my biscuit, put my head down, smiled and headed out. I then thought to myself as to whether we need to tighten up voter laws and driving laws, because there is no way some of these people can make a reasonable decision, and God knows for sure, they can't be safe behind heavy machinery.
