  1. With WV going to 4 classes next year Princeton has a legitimate shot to win a state title. They won’t have to deal with Martinsburg anymore.

  2. He's an absolute stud. I'm guessing he thinks he'll get more attention and/or rings with Princeton?? Huge gap to fill for sure. He was dominant.

  3. It's easy to sit in the seats at the Siegel Center and be an armchair coach and say a coach is a sore loser. Dig deeper. It's easy for JM fans to sit in their seats and say that Class 2 isn't worth their time because they play so much better basketball than what is played in the rest of the state. Dig deeper. They don't want to but they don't care. It's all about winning. You develop your players from your youth league. Develop your players from your middle school program. Develop your players from your JV program. Shoot even add a good player or two from a nearby town. Put together the perfect season. Then go to Richmond and play a team thats been built from Team Loaded AAU. Division 1 players all around. Total mismatch. Beating teams by an average of 60 points. You play them for a state championship and get your behind handed to you. Four months worth of work for the season. Years of watching your seniors grow up from little kids to the amazing players they are now. To watch them get destroyed by a built super team. No chance to win a state championship. Hard work for years gone. Beat by 58 points. And you are going to just say... "Just a better team. We just aren't good enough to win a state championship." If that's your reply..... YOU ARE A BETTER MAN THAN ME.

It's happening in SWVA too. Softball player leaves a school to play for her travel ball coach, other local teams have transfers on them as well. Russell County has had swaps in various sports for a few years now too. If the family decides to move their kid that's their business. Loyalty in sports is gone in all levels.

  5. Brother Lance. Uncle Percy says it’s about time to shutdown these topic and lock it away. The critics have expounded their thoughts and concerns. The “experts” have voiced their “expert” opinions. The head coach has been discussed, asst coaches’ names have been tossed around along with discussions on “recruiting” and other topics. As always, when it comes to Richlands, The Mayor of the Trailer Park has made the most sense. However, after 25 pages, 614 comments and 51k views Uncle Percy just laughs. He said “Out of this commenting there’s no Paul Harveys that know the rest of the story”. Mayor, Uncle Percy says you’re probably the closest. See folks, Uncle Percy knows something the rest of us don’t and he’s not talking. He won’t even tell Cousin Claude and they both belong to one of those secret societies with about 13 - 15 handshakes and upteem pass words. So Bother Lance, Uncle Percy says if these people haven’t figured it out yet, they probably never will, except maybe the Mayor. So lock her down and turn out the lights as Dandy Don used to sing.

  6. There is a homeschool girls basketball program locally called State Line Rush. They have sent a girl or two to college to play basketball every single year for over a decade. Not hard to see why Galax and Grayson County High Schools have seen a sharp decline in girls basketball talent in that timeframe. They fundraise like crazy and play all over the eastern seaboard. Probably play 50 games a year. Of the former SLR players that I know, one starts at George Washington currently, one starts at UT Chattanooga currently, and one started 77 games at Liberty between 2019-2023. https://www.maxpreps.com/va/galax/state-line-homeschool-rush-rush/basketball/girls/schedule/ https://www.facebook.com/statelinerush/ That is where I see youth athletics in the future. What State Line Rush is doing will be the rule rather than the exception. Edit to add: That 2018 NACA National Championship SLR won (on Facebook link) was with an extraordinary team. All three D1 players mentioned above plus three girls that played D2 basketball in South Carolina and another that played D2 basketball at Lee University. One of the D2 girls was an All-America selection.

  7. VHSL can make a rule. If you are the local AAU coach, you can't be on the coaching staff. That's rule one. They could argue conflict of interest and unfair competition and it would likely hold up in court and it would hold up to the point that a school like JM likely couldn't overturn that ruling. That fixes a good chunk of it right there. Lastly, all open enrollment schools that are within a city of over 200K have to play up in classification in athletics at the level in which the VHSL decides based on competitiveness. It's really that simple. Now, maybe only one or none of these rules holds up in court. Maybe they both do. But.......what you do is......TRY. You TRY to do something. So far....I've seen no trying.

  8. Everything is a cycle. It’ll all come back around. There’s a group of young kids that are successful that in the next decade will be in high school and the pendulum hopefully swings back the other way.

  9. What if VA High protested playing JM and didn't go the Richmond?
